Inconsistent affiliate experience is so true. I left on box because they didn’t have a whiteboard or even promote tracking your workout score. They said scores discouraged people. I stink but I want to see how well I did vs others in order to push myself to get better. I think you’re supposed to push yourself, work on weaknesses and be motivated by the people better than you but some boxes are more about just being social and not focusing at all on growth.

This isn’t really MetFix versus CrossFit, rather it’s about a brand new company now trying to compete all the groups that have popped up like F45, and the thousands of other weight loss, health, whatever groups. The noncompete isn’t really a worry, because Greg used to own a company that was “cutting edge”, but really was just a new bully in the fitness space. The landscape is completely different and while they might get some people to move forward, it will be a much harder sell, given some of the baggage Greg Glassman has. Doesn’t mean that they can’t make some money and make some change, but again, the landscape is way different today than it was even three years ago

Seems to be getting back to the roots. I think this is what Greg wanted back when he started firing staff and pushing for less focus on the games and sport of CrossFit. I love the sport and being competitive but I agree it has caused a glossing over of the foundation and why we should be doing this. It's unfortunate but I think it's because the sport direction is fun and exciting vs prioritizing nutrition first and focusing on the core methodology.

@@brooklynwillis1604 but does that mean high level (I.e. Elite) crossfitters are unhealthy?
What's missing in the anti-carb zealot rhetoric is that carbs are just a fuel source for the body. What matters, more precisely, is what one does with the carbs they consume.
Being anti-carb is the same as promoting the Mediterranean diet or the low-fat diet in the 80s and 90s.
It's just another blanket approach to a nuanced topic.

    • @brooklynwillis1604

Greg isn’t speaking to high level athletes, he’s speaking to ppl that over eat carbs and are metabolically unhealthy. It’s “off the carbs off the couch”.
Some high level athletes could be metabolically unhealthy, there are some t2 Ironman and triathletes.
we should be able to agree, most ppl under exercise, under eat protein and eat high calorie high fat and high carb junk food. That is who Greg is trying to help. 89 million pre diabetes, 39 million t2, cardiovascular disease is the worldwide #1 killer.

And, again I feel like without ordinary everyday people being involved with change, the target market where they should be pinpointing this is just another fitness craze.
