    Discus ( tank bred/ hybrids ) and planted tank is a challenging task to maintain since discus ( tank breds ) prefers higher temperatures and plants requires lower temperatures to thrive. Tank bred discus requires higer temperatures as these hybrids are bred at high temperatures to accelerate their metabolism for faster growth to metabolize high protein diet foods which are given to them. Wild discus does not require as much of higher temperatures like the hybrids since in their wild habitat they do not get to feed very high protein diet foods which are fed ( GHM ) to the hybrids. Wild discus can be significantly be kept at lower temperatures. Regular Siphoning is also an issue with discus keeping/tank as it is not possible in a planted tank to remove uneaten foods on constant basis as discus are messy eaters. Planted tanks will also restrict the foods which ( heart mix ) are generally fed to the discus as it can create issues with water parameters. Planted tank and discus will be challenge also during the winter months as higher temperatures are required as their metabolism decreases substantially. Congratulations for your friend discus tank setup. Beautifully executed. Looking forward for part two of this video presentation.

    Very beautiful, thanks to entire Ripples team, want to know the light used as lighting requirements for ferns are not too intense, 2nd have you used aqua soil to maintain ph,3rd apart from bacteria what additive you have used to strike that balance, I mean salty shrimp type product and fertiliser schedule, 4th have you used RO water or normal tap water because water change of 750 litre tank is tiring ,automatic water change does not work really without you dirty your hand ( British call it husbandry😂)

    • @ripplesnatureinspiredaquar6870
      @ripplesnatureinspiredaquar6870 3 місяці тому

      Sorry for the late response. First please stop dozing liquid CO2, they have lots of harmful chemicals which are not good for any aquarium ecosystem. Best time to doze fertilizer, in our opinion, is after an optimum CO2 level has builtup in the water. We normally start our CO2 dozing 1/2 hours before aquarium lights are turned on. That gives time for good CO2 levels in water, so that when lights are turned on the plants are in the best position to absorb supplied nutrients

      To be frank we have not done DIY setups for quite sometime so it will be unfair of us to remark. To our little knowledge, soil and vermicompost are best used for terrestrial plants. Underwater over time they may not work well. You can consider using any aquarium soil at least and use other DIY stuff, that way your chances of success will be more
