Watch the Transformation: Removing Offsets & Trimming Roots on a Stunning Haworthia 'Dai Miryuu'
This stunning Haworthia maughanii has produced an abundance of offsets, leaving no room for further growth. By removing the offsets, we allow the mother plant to thrive while giving the offsets space to develop. Once the offsets are well-established, we offer them for sale in our webstore.
As part of my standard repotting routine, I carefully trim back the roots, inspect the stem for any signs of disease, excess underground stem, or rot, and prepare the plant for its new home. All my Haworthias are potted in akadama with added slow-release fertilizer, Magamp-K, for optimal growth. Visit my webstore for the tools I use, akadama, pots, and more!

Plant on display: Haworthia cv ‘Heavenly Flower’ variegated This plant has very nice recurving leaf and is a large growing hybrid. It has just finished flowering and produced some seeds which I harvested. I did not want to disturbed the plant when it was with seedpods so I left the yellow offsets attached. It is time to repot the plant and discard the yellow offsets.

Everything was fine one day; the next day, the groundhogs and deer destroyed my cabbage, kale, and collards. I had a lot of them also. I had a similar experience this year, also. I've had squirrel problems this year too - the regular squirrels and also ground squirrels. They like to "taste test" a bunch of my cacti and succulents and really messed up several. But the scale of your damage is insane especially when I know all those plants are for commercial purposes. It will take some real inner strength to deal with all of that damage. Sending good vibes from New Mexico!

@rennyshaworthia I have seen EdibleAcres (UA-cam channel focusing on sustainable agriculture) protecting their tree seedlings with wooden frames with hardware cloth (which is a metal mesh sheet) stapled on. The mesh is wide enough for watering and sunlight, but narrow and rigid enough to prevent most rodents.
