    One thing that changed is games don't give opportunities for game communities to build anything anymore. When was the last major FPS release that had something like the custom game modes in Halo or custom servers like in valve games. Everything has to be sweaty and focused on officially run servers.

    13:34 Valid to the core. A problem that caters to fighting games for many years now. I really had to cut out some fighting game franchises because they related on Season Passes too much. Like hiding characters within them so you buy the season pass because you buy the characters instead of just getting the characters. And that seems to justify a price tag of 30 to 40 bucks for a set of four characters. For four new characters because a seaon thing is attached to it. Street Fighter 6, looking at you. Since I bought SF6 i have never taken part in any of those seasoned events. The hell was I even paying for. This means I start to realize I can only "main" one fighting game and keep building on its roster while ignoring the rest? Or I wait for some years until they drop the complete package with all DLCs down to 25 bucks like I did with Tekken 7. I say I gonna do it like with Tekken 7 for fighting games and shooters people play online for a while until the price drops because people dropped out. I prefer single player anyway. It is kinda sad we have to wait for the multiplayer online crowds to drop a game before it gets reasonable for single players to buy them.

    1:52 See? That is the trap I never fell for. I am also picky about who is gonna be my friends and who can go kiss my backside. And specifically online with all those random bastards just waiting for lonely people to bring their fake friendship offers as long as you follow their rules. No thanks. I think single players like me have aged the best in regards to gaming overall. Our expectations are not depending on shared social media opinion pieces. We do not rely on other people's top ten tier list bullshit. We can like games many people online would never mention once because they are all like hive minded insects when ti comes to down it. This goes so far that wrong historical facts about video games can create opinions that will ruin the idea to like a game for many people for no real existing reason. Stay offline. Enjoy games alone or with actual friends. Even in the arcades we only played with our best pals and never with or against random folks.

    Even like two decades ago I had no reason to dive into multiplayer LAN parties. And years later I still refused to let go off my inner sanctuary. All this mass multiplayer online nonsense has gone too far. People are literally addicts. They get depressed when their friends are no longer there and they blame gaming for their depression, not the fact they are missing the good times with their former friends online. Online gaming has crafted many false ideas about gaming itself and we have to deal with it or to get rid of it one way or another. The fighting game community thrives on online bullshit. And online alone except for those moments the guys are going for real in these competitions. Shooter fanatics sweating it out like gym bros. As a single player I never had to deal with this. But seeing it becoming more and more of a problem with every years passing because gamers losing their focus makes me glad to be a single player games enthusiast. It is all about streaming,making money online while streaming others playing games or just talking about games or talking about others talking about games. Like what the heck? Classic single player and classic couch co-op rules.

    Only multiplayer game I appreciate is warframe. There's literally no fomo and a ton of content that is not hidden behind a paywall. It also encourages socialisation since you need to manually interact with players on market

    LAMO, I completely agree. I spent months on my first and only battle royale getting good because I enjoyed the game, but now I’ve fought to the point where I can solo top players, and I get spam reported whenever I play, even though matchmaking puts me in the lobbies I belong in. So I can’t even play more than a few games on my main account anymore. I wish I wasn’t punished for pushing past every barrier, from being Solo to being paired up against the sweatiest players imaginable, all in an attempt to chase the fun I felt when I was bad at it.

    I think the last time I had the same level of fun in a modern multiplayer game like I did as a young lad was probably the first week MW2 (reboot) came out and everyone got on mics and acted like it was 2011. For that week I felt like a 12 year old again.

    There was a time when people were happier playing games even without online multiplayer features or friends and family to join them. Nowadays, games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros, which were originally meant to be casual and fun, have become increasingly technical and challenging to master. Additionally, the highly competitive online multiplayer community often introduces an element of toxicity. Streamers and gaming UA-camrs also encourage players to adopt a highly competitive mindset, often sharing all the answers and tricks. Back in the day, players would simply enjoy the process of figuring things out on their own through trial and practice. Nowadays, many beginners feel left out because they are often matched with players of varying skill levels. Opponents could range from similarly inexperienced players to highly skilled pros, and there’s no option to choose opponents based on skill level. Instead, matchmaking is random, which can make the experience frustrating for newcomers.

    Jesus man watching the Titanfall 2 gameplay in this video makes me sad because I miss the first few years of this game and it was some of the most fun I ever had playing a fps. No other game has been able to scratch that itch for me. It's sad because games like call of duty could be that great but they just use psychology to trick you into playing over and over again and trying to trick you into buying useless crap and using FOMO to get your money. I'm done man. I'm cashed out. I went back to 90% single player games now and I'm not going back

Even though you don't upload anymore, it was a pleasure watching what was uploaded already and I hope you have a good life strange unknown person on the internet I agree with. And thank you for spreading awareness on Nestle too, that company is getting away with so much that it's quite ridiculous.

    Before i watch this video i think 2 main things ruined multiplayer games. SBM and not leaving you with the lobby you just played with. Its taken out the casual experience of being linked with people that have decent ping and destroyed the social experience by not staying with people for more than one game.

I've never felt any of that in my near Hundred hours messing around with the sandbox. Any game I play I use bots if I can, if I have to play with other people I won't do it. Things that ruined it: - Poor countries getting internet access (yeah I said it) - Skill Based Match Making ( turning EVERY game into a sweat fest ) - Cheating ( When you rise in de SBMM you get matched against cheaters, noobs on reddit playing bronze/iron will say "i never see cheaters you just suck", cheaters are in the higher skill brackets doh ) - Big studios going public on the stockmarket, turning the gamers into the milking cows for the profit of the shareholders - Naieve gamers keep pre-odering games based on some hype trailer or social media b.s, taking away every incentive for a studio to deliver a good product - And maybe most of all, studios getting forced by big shareholders from big finance to ADD (Lefty) POLITICS INTO GAMES.

  • @JasonNZ42
    @JasonNZ42 4 місяці тому

    It's a shame where multiplayer gaming has ended up. So many games have lost of a lot of players, or gained a lot of cheaters or used an anticheat that can crash PCs, or just lost the integrity that made the game fun in the first place. Multiplayer games still have potential, but they've become so much about money that single player games generally are offering a fresh experience, not just in quantity, but quality as well

    This. This in its entirety. One of the worst things to happen to games was when it went mainstream. The second worst thing to happen to it was when MOBA's made competitive gaming the STANDARD rather than an extra. I come from Fighting Games, and Fighting Games have always had a competitive scene. They are competitive in nature, Mono y Mono. But the difference is that having exclusively yourself to rely on makes a lot of people far more considerate of their own actions before hyperfocusing on others. MOBA's did the exact opposite. And when competitive shooters became more common, that mentality just transferred over because shooters have always been a general market rather than a niche one. Suddenly you couldn't hop on ANY game without your skill in it being an immediate issue to everyone around you. It didn't matter if the games had a ranked mode, you saw the same vitriol and criticism seeping into casual game modes too. Games stopped being about fun. They were about supporting metas now. And that includes the moneymaking meta where devs needed to maximize their profits through microtransactions. And once politics got introduced to the mix it was all over because now you have microtransactions everywhere while the game itself was trying to introduce you to the same cringe crap we just saw at the Olympics this year. Thought you'd be safe going back to old games? Well, old games are progressively becoming harder to acquire these days. In fact, 70-something-% of all games ever created are now considered lost media. I cannot play Warhawk on PS3 anymore. I cannot play Killzone 2. Whacked on Xbox OG is hard to come by. Don't even get me started on what it's like being a Silent Hill fan trying to get their hands on older titles for the PS1 & 2. And this is all on purpose, because as far as game companies are concerned, they AREN'T concerned. They don't care about what you want. They care about what you're willing to pay them for. And the problem there is that we've given them the impression that we'll pay for a BAD TIME playing toxic multiplayer titles and the cope of maybe enjoying them more with a fancy skin.
