I JUST RAN MY FASTEST HALF MARATHON | Hobart Marathon 2024
Broken physically, but not mentally! 💪
These videos are simply a delight to watch every week
You should talk about your diet. You’re clearly expending less energy, so how has your appetite been? Have you made different food choices? Have you gained body weight?
These videos are always such a delight! 😊 I've implemented most of these tips in my return from injury, and still continue to do. Although one of the biggest motivators in my return has had to be watching awesome well made running content like yours. Just kept me sane, pushing to get back, doing all the little things, and staying patient. Currently having a setback with my knee, so this video was much needed 😁👏
thanks heaps!! we gotta stay patient and just keep going!
Nice video. As someone who got an injury (calf strain) whilst returning to running from a lengthier injury (bone stress), trying to remember you'll be healthy again is crazy tough. Cliche but the mental battle is so much harder than anything physical.
that’s very tough! you back to fitness now or still working through it?
@AverageDomSlim unfortunately still working through it. And now pretty much terrified to go back into any walk/runs, even though I'm 90% sure I'm ready. Just so scared of reinjury and can't even remember how it feels to run pain/issue free anymore 🫠
Dom looking like a girl named Sarah in the thumbnail lol
literally feel like my life coach at this point and im so inspired every thursday
champion 😇
Very relateable...love the transparency! Ran an all out BQ qualifier in March and then ramped up mileage/intensity too quickly while not sleeping great. Got ITBS that took 8wks to rehab and then plantar fasciatis that's taken another 8wks to improve. I'm now strength training & easy running building to 30mpw by strictly only increasing mileage 10% per wk and trying to improve sleep/listening to body.
thanks heaps for sharing! looks like I’ll be on a similar path very soon ❤️🩹
Great video Dom ! You are an inspiration mate !
appreciate it! 😌
Oh my Dom this video came at the best time! I had a bad fall a few days ago and there’s a possibility (waiting on X-ray results) I may have fractured my tailbone 😭 I never thought I’d miss running so much but I’m devastated at the thought of not being able to. Your videos will comfort and guide me through my own rebuild/recovery phase. Please create a beginner/back to running program 😂🤗🇨🇦
noooo Sherry I’m sorry to hear!! hope your recovery can start soon, and don’t worry we’ll do it together!
@ Thanks to you my rebuild will be epic! 😁🇨🇦
Hey Dom. What are you going to do differently this time round to ensure you don't get another injury? Is it mainly a focus on nutrition and your new footwear? 😊😊 I'm super scared to get another injury once I start running again. For me, I think the big change will be a big cut in volume and more cross training.
absolutely! better shoe rotation, greater focus on nutrition, lower mileage, more cross-training, more rest periods throughout the year 🫡
I’ve been in hospital on bed rest for a month and really anxious about how to go about my journey to fitness again. I ran a 10k just 5 days before admission but now I struggle to walk through the hospital. Definitely following these
hope you’re doing okay! we’re in it together! slow and steady 😌
Maybe not an elite runner, but definitely an elite average dom slim. :)
I’ll take it 😁
I want to watch montages of what you get up to every day!!
Super nice just to see a chill and peaceful day in the life. So awesome being able to relate this much to something. It was only 2 weeks ago that I even had my first non run/walk run after injury, and I even still have them on some days. Remember that first 5K I got to do non stop, it was such a blessing 😊 Keep going! 🔥 Love following along your journey while doing the same myself 😁
we’re very close in our journeys!! I have my first non-stop 20min run very soon. keep it up legend!
@@AverageDomSlim let’s GO, you too! 😁 I have my first workout Wednesday today back, and it’s also my first time doing mile repeats. Had to move it, so technically not Wednesday, but it sticks 😅
Bonkers you just popped up in my feed and I spoke to you after I came in at Hobart Half this year (1:22)! Great vids!!
I remember you mate! thanks heaps
Bro, you need to get on Aldi near your place. More $ for shoes and gels 😅
musically nailed it, they did look like sensational waves and you are correct. PERFECT video !!!
im 3 minutes in and my god what a tune
how can someone who wears no shoes in coles be this good of a youtuber
😄
the comeback shall be stronger than the setback, dom. Loving the journey. And that intro was next level. Appreciate your content thank you
thanks heaps man!
Hey Dom have you ever given thought to wide toe box shoes? I see a lot of your clips you’re barefoot and they sorta let you feel like that while you’re running - it’s pretty great
I hadn’t even heard of them! Brand recommendation?
@@AverageDomSlim I run in Altra’s, absolutely changed my running for the better 1 year completely injury free (as a novice too)
Non Elite runner? Dude... you under-estimate your ability. You might not be a "pro" runner, but to be winning races like you do, you are definitely ELITE 🔥
I appreciate this 😊
Class as always, however how come a month has gone by and nobody has even mentioned the dark chocolate dunking? I mean, maybe I need to get out more and I appreciate you Southern Hemisphere humans do like to do things with the occasional controversial slant. But I can honestly say, I've never witnessed this act before. Yet my little neurons are tingling with the concept now. Playing through the motions, the tilt, the dip, the dunk, the pause, oh that sweet moment of pause where you weigh up all of the variables. Drink temperature, chocolate melt point, wind direction, moon phase and associated gravitational forces at play... It's a whole new world!!!!
far out this made me laugh 😆
Yes, training on the sand is very effective for rehabilitation and strengthening of the legs. NBA players have been doing this successfully for a long time. This helped Richard Jefferson was a useful veteran during Cleveland's champion days.
He’s come out of retirement, take me with you on this triathlon journey
let’s gooooo 🚴🏼
You’ve honestly become one of my favourite running creators so quickly. Super relatable, informative and fun at the same time, keep the fantastic content going 😊🔥 Would love more on how you intentionally eat to avoid injury and support the healing process.
super kind, thanks heaps!! more food stuff coming up 🥙😌
I love me some dom slim content for breakfast

My fav runner and UA-camr Much love from india 🙏🏻
thank you so much bro!
"International Day of of the Long Run". 😆😆😆
Go get it slim
Well done on making it through the injury 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey darling Mum here..thanks for the lovely shoutout! I like how you frame the walk runs within a track, there and back..I’m gonna try that approach as I get back in my running feet. Love you.
go get it, ma!
This is great news your getting some running 😊
This is a minimally easy running workout, but the most difficult training of willpower and self-control (so that, in the joy of recovery, you don’t go on a running “binge”).
must resist 😅
Bro's back! Yeah baby!
actual tears the moment you ran!!! EVERYDAY IS CHRISTMAS AGAIN!!!!!
♥️
In case you needed any validation: I've never heard of you before. This was a video that just popped up on my recommended. With your storytelling and editing, I was fully on your side the entire time. I'm just a beginner runner, but will be following along. Subbed.
thank you so much! 🥹
Being injured really makes you appreciate being able to run. I took it for granted for so long, until I got injured.
I’m so stoked for you! 🔥 I remember when I had my first run back recently after having been out with runner’s knee for 3 months too, I had about as equal of a big smile on my face. Started with run walks too, and I had my first continuous 5K without any stops this Monday, and I couldn’t be happier. Gonna love to follow along your journey, as I build back myself, let’s get it! 😁👏
5k nice one!! rebuild together!
He’s back!!!!
So good to see you back Dom!!! Also kudos to your Mom!!!! Maybe one day we’ll see a UA-cam channel from her 🥰
