    I am a manager of a large team of people and you can’t really block time like this because it causes a heap of personal frustration. I guess I have an open door policy for people coming to see me when they need help.

      You need to find what works best for you, your work environment and your personality. I do time blocking when I work from home. On days, I am in the office, my calendar is usually full of meetings and if it is not, I intentionally choose items I can be disctracted from as I like to chat to my colleagues.

    Im retired but still this method intrigues me as I find I get nothing really accomplished with the unstructured hours that lye before me most days. And the sad truth is that with recent health problems, on better days I find im always trying to catch up with life & all the responsibilities that are still necessary to have a home, pay bills on time, etc.etc.etc. surely i can try to adapt the time blocking method to my circumstances...

      Hello, I am self employed and a family carer. I time block across a week. So Wednesdays are for correspondence and Fridays are for finances. I run classes on Tuesday and Saturday. I attend meetings on Thursdays or create class content. I cannot always stick to this because I have to work with other people. But it mostly works. My issue is too much to do. So on correspondence day, I will work through all important correspondence in priority order, until I have to go and do some other paid work or carer task. When I get back, I return to correspondence. I hope this helps.

      I like to do time blocking outside of work as well (not every day though) - it helps me feel more accomplished and in control of my time. It's not for everyone but I prefer it :).

    Google calendar is super helpful. I just started using it again. PRO TIP though.. this can cause burn out for some.. me included.. so I have to leave space and just put on important events that I CAN and WILL forget about. Like putting up all when I work. Hangouts with friends. Important tasks, etc. Just things I neeeeed to get done. So if you have ADHD or just can't plan like this, then plz plz don't and just do what works BEST for you.. bc that's the best planning!

    I like the book so far and it makes sense. BUT... when you have this sequence or chain of habits and you already miss your first habit because you sleep too long or you have an appointment at the hospital that day and the next day you're sick and then the third day you forget about the habit, then the fourth day you have to get back into it... which is really hard because you didn't miss one habit. You missed all the other habits as well.

    • @MarianaKaiser
      @MarianaKaiser 2 місяці тому

      That's true - I like to put the new habit with one that is very established and unlikely to be missed (e.g. brushing teeth, commuting, etc.). I like to also support this with other means - for example, I may track the habit in an app and try to keep my streak as long as possible (pro tip - streak is broken only if you break it two days in a row, otherwise it is alive - this is life changing!). So if I miss my initial habit, I still am reminded and motivated to do the habit. Similarly, I will adjust the environment, so the environment reminds me of the habit (e.g. vitamins on the kitchen table so I see them, etc.). If you really care about creating this habit, support it in multiple ways.
