New hillclimb! Can we make a run at the top?

This video is from July 2017. We noticed that somebody used quads to cut a trail directly up a hillside that's crossed horizontally by a couple of overgrown gas well roads. Of course we had to give it shot!

How I got started with motorcycles; List of my bikes!
Переглядів 744 роки тому
This video has two parts. The first part is a short slideshow of pictures that tells the story of how I was exposed to motorcycles in the early part of my life. There's a cool motorcycle history lesson baked in as well, featuring a legendary rider that most people don't know. The second part is a list of the motorcycles that have been a part of my life along with some commentary on each one.

Onboard with Dave during his first ever race at the GNAR LLC Harescramble in Apollo, PA. This was just a fun-run to ride the track and line up next to my brother for an actual organized race. My shift lever spun off the shaft during moto #1 which prevented me from running moto #2, but had a blast otherise. Thanks to the organizers.

This is the second ride of the year after getting the YZ125 back together. I had the rear suspension completely overhauled by MPR in Crafton, PA and installed a new RaceTech 5.2kg shock. Rebuilt clutch, new cables, cleaned and tuned carb, new tires, an FMF Gold Series Fatty refinished by FusionOne, and a new FMF shorty. At this point the sag was off and it was running too lean in the cold air, ...

PA Trail Riders: The thrill of a hillclimb and the agony of quicksand
Переглядів 2928 років тому
Beware the perils of a solo woods ride. I thought I was being pretty conservative on this ride, careful not to end up having to push the bike 5 miles back to the truck or worse. However, I ended up riding straight into some of the nastiest muck you'll ever see. Ultimately I needed my brother CJ and cousin Vince to rescue me and the bike. Be careful out there everybody, and always lend a hand wh...
PA Trail Riders first ride of 2016
Переглядів 7808 років тому
What started as a quick ride to see if the bike was put back together correctly turned into a day of single track riding. This put into perspective how slow I'm still going while learning how to ride in the woods. A couple of the guys I rode with on this day were just about to graduate from IUP so good luck to them out in the real world.

    Had 3 off these and the clutch on all 3 of them stuck when you first started them up. They soon release up. Just ride it with clutch pulled in till it works or just put front wheel against a wall then put it into gear. The clutch sticking really is very very common and normal to be honest, nothing to worry about

    I want to do this too. I have a ohv park 10 min away with trials stuff. The clutch reminds me of old Yamaha clutches from the 70's-early 80's. The plates would get stuck together if they sat for a while and you had to ride around with no clutch for a few minutes till the oil got flowing again around the plates

    The clutch plates on my first Sherco (I've had 6) would stick like yours. When the plates broke free, the clutch worked great. Every weekend was the same, until I changed to a synthetic oil. I put 30w Royal Purple oil in the trans and the problem was solved. That was 19 years ago, and I still use Royal Purple. Mobil One would work, both are great oils. I hope you enjoy the sport as you have good balance.

      PA Trail Riders Thanks for the response. Was just wondering since some of the trails here in Idaho are like that and wanted to know what you did to get up the hills.

    • @patrailriders6284
      @patrailriders6284 6 років тому

      I'll bet there are some badass hills in Idaho. As a general rule, whether you're riding a 2 stroke or 4 stroke, a hill is made at the bottom. Grab a low gear, probably second, get your revs up, get your speed up and be aggressive approaching the hill. Momentum is key. Shift your weight back and STAY ON THE GAS. If your clutch is set up properly you should only have to feather it up the hill as you negotiate rocks and ruts and slick spots. If you find yourself losing speed and momentum halfway up a steep hill it's probably better to bail and give it another run from the bottom. Watch my cousin Clayton AKA Kid Powerband attack the hill that we named after him on his YZ80. Full gas, no hesitation, feathering the clutch over obstacles, and keeping it WFO. ua-cam.com/video/1NWsbQIP22s/v-deo.html
