  • I have to admit...this wasn't my best day on the bike. We got to Rock Run around 2pm, just as it started to snowstorm. In October. My carb was setup slightly lean to begin with, and temps in the 30's / 40's didn't help keep the bike running at low rpm's. Lots of stalls in the middle of hills. I was beat after this one, but a day on the bike is better than a day anywhere else.

On the bright side you will have a perfectly running bike. and I'm about to post a video here in a few minutes, it's nothing special it's just me reving the yz but I will for sure get another one out after riding tomorrow. Thanks for watching my vids!

Were you in first on the hill climbs? Or second?

+Asper Enduro Hey Dude! All the video in this upload is of me on the 125. My brother is in a few of the shots on his supermini, like the one where he gets stuck on the very top portion of the same hill I did. The billion little rocks got me on this day.

+PA Trail Riders these hills looked really difficult especially with the small rocks and the two stroke. I meant what gear were you in because I haven't taken my yz on the hills yet so
I was wondering what the best gear would be the best for hill climbs, probably second but its good to get others opinions.

Oooh, right. My dad (the guy on the Husky in the logo) always told us, "Hills are made at the bottom." For hills like this where you have a really short run-up, hit first gear quickly and power into second as soon as possible. Get your speed up and make that motor scream through second as you hit the first ascent. The YZ two-stroke thrives in the high revs, trust me. Be confident, keep the throttle open, and look 10 - 15 feet ahead instead of down at your front wheel. When it doubt, stand on the pegs, crouch into attack position and twist the throttle. Momentum is key on hills. If you shift to third at a point where the hill gets steep or there are obstacles (rocks, roots, holes) you'll risk bogging the engine out and stalling. Wind second gear up the steep part of a hill and feather the clutch until you get to a point with some traction, then grab that next gear and murder the rest of the hill. Easier said than done, as evidenced by the video.

+Asper Enduro Jealous, man. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my bike from the ground up and it's still in pieces. Shooting for a first ride in mid-March. Make sure you post some new video for me to watch my man!
