G’day everyone, I hope you’re all well. In this video we’re heading to Andamooka for a quick scratch, as we’re still making room to mine the level, there’s still a bit of excavating to be done and a lot of dirt to move. Nothing to show in the way of colour in this video, just some of the effort put into working an opal claim. I hope you enjoy, thanks for your time. 🤪👍 My contact email: theopalm...

Hi there, I am a gold prospector from Victoria, I have a UA-cam channel called Poverty prospecting Australia. I just happen to be in Andamooka at this moment, just for a few days. My wife and I have been watching discovery channel "outback opal hunters" for years now. It would be fantastic to do a bit of hunting while we are here. Any chance you can put me on to someone who would be willing to take me out to film a bit of content while here. Thank you regards Andy Poverty prospecting Australia 🇦🇺

Hi Phil, mesmerising stone. Well done!! Thoroughly enjoying your journey. Bought one of Jase's machines, love it but nowhere near as good as you yet. Struggling with the transition from the 240 diamond to the 280 soft wheel. What grit is your shaping diamond wheel? Best of luck on the trip!

I'm back with another probably stupid question, Phil. Have you dried them after this and then put them into your vacuum chamber in the acid to get more acid penetration, before cooking them?

  • @Kerrsartisticgifts

I wonder why you can see the colour before the sugar has been carbonized (is that a word? You know what mean, Phil) Are you going to get anymore boulder on your web store, Phil, what about some untreated matrix so we can enjoy following your instructions and seeing these results for ourselves, all around the World. Your videos are the best and I think that andamooka matrix is the most bang for the buck that a poor opal lover could possibly get. I'd love to see more videos about different types of it. I'd also love to have access to it, in your store, (hint hint) I don't want any of the material being sold on Facebook that is full of blackened pebbles, it looks like man made concrete and I think that stuff is why some people don't appreciate matrix opal. Sorry, Phil. I tried not to comment anymore because I talk too much.....But that's what I have been thinking. ;)

Hmmm, I certainly would have overpaid for the rough. I think I would have gone to $20-$30 a carat. But I haven't been buying any for a while so a bit out of touch. And I see what you mean about it being a bit tricky cutting. I thought it looked straightforward enough, but as you went through it I was thinking "Oh geez, definitely not as straightforward as I thought!". So I would have come away from it with a very nice looking stone, but thinking "Hmmm, not what I thought it was going to be". But that's the game, is it not? Still a lovely stone. 👌 Also, very nice looking slabs! Do you have some with the colour cut out? Glad to hear the cut wasn't TOO bad. Thanks for sharing the updates and we love you sharing your opal journey. We all appreciate it. And the wildlife, we love the wildlife videos too! 😁🦎🦘🦆😆
