Carving abstract shapes and in 3D! Awsome mate! Ive been playing with a similar idea myself. What are your thoughts on polishing as much of a carving as you can on a polishing machine/flat lap with a polishing wheel, and then finishing with a dremel to get in all the nooks an crannys?
G’day mate, anything that you can use, including a flat lap soft resin pads using the outer edge, burrs/resin bits, sandpaper, to get a great finish should be explored, I also have bags silicon carbide grits that can be used with a wood dowel to skin polish. Let the results speak for themselves. 🤪👍
The stone you cut looks like a bird. Drill a hole in the smaller side put in a seed pear and you have the eye.😂😂😂 I was cooking and watching i missed the part where you showed the bird. 😂😂
I love the bird.
Awesome Phill
Cheers famo59
👍🍻
I like your oval and off cut, get for setting. But there’s a real beauty in natural free form opal. Love em Phil, well done, get well mate.
Carvings came out great. … I’ve never seen a wood polishing bur before. Looks like it did the job.
The crystals at the end were magnificent.
Great to see this new 'track' of cutting/reshaping opal that you've taken on. Really interesting, and the colours are so beautiful 💥💫😉
The little bird is my favorite.
It must be wonderful having access to these beautiful Opals. I find them so incredibly beautiful.. The grand it absolutely amazing.. I love freeform
The second carving reminded me of a sweet pea pod. Nice work.
Gday Phil
G’day Kayne, I hope alls well mate! 🤪👍

Hey Phil, so opal is like lollipops , I’ve licked plenty of it and it sure doesn’t taste that way 😂😂😂😂
Great work on that setting Phil. Thanks for the video.
Is 430 am here. I'll have to watch this when I wake up!
Hi Phil, nice video! 👋💎👍
I like how these turned out.
Beautiful pieces 👍 Best of luck on next vid 🤘 Big carving looks like a row of snake eggs 😂
Thats a great idea with the eye drilled for the bird.Ever thought of putting in an inlay for the eye?
I also think the way the opal colour faces is very important to watch, especially when carving shapes. The bird and its caterpillar.
howdy, nice stones great show, cheers
nice work mate
I see the butterfly with the end pieces as the wings.
I do see the butterfly. More like a bat. But i also see the coolest dental bridge ever.😂😂 You do great work.
Hey Pulitzer opal gave you a shout out in his last video. I thought that was nice.

Thats great man, in real time, how long does that take?

Is that a felt tip you used with cerium?
Have to go back and check my lamina rough. Sometimes the worm is bigger than the bird.
