    Honestly, these brushes are like $40, if you get 2 years out of them, it's simply not worth fixing. You don't need any of the high-dollar models either, whether it's Oral-B or sonicare, the $40 brush does everything you need to keep your choppers ship shape. I am all for trying to fix things, but there are times it's just not worth it.

    hello,the model I have is 3731. first the on/off button started to not react at all and did not work at all. i disassembled the device and checked it by eye. but since I am an amateur, I could not find a problem and turned it off again. now it says “CHARGING” but there is no indication of charging. it only says charging. do you have any idea about this malfunction? the battery seems to be 70% charged. how many volts should I see at the output of the battery. is the battery voltage low and does not trigger the circuit?

      It could be that magnet has separated from the shaft. If it's still on the shaft try to remove it and glue it back in place. But it is difficult to get the hight right as if there will be to much glue tha magnet head will stick out and vibrations will be not right as well..

    TLDR/Summary for anyone who wants to see the actual point. There are two a bumpy thing (7:35 just right side of his tool), if you can connect one to the left to what he's pointing out (rectangle thing at the corner) it'll work. If you don't have a soldering machine and wanna see if that'll solve your problem, you can put a knife or other metal between these two things.

      There is more in learning then just reading/watching a summary in 20s :) and if you want to repair more of different things you need to learn different techniques and different approaches in diagnostics :) don't have anything against fast learning but diagnostic is an art in itself ;)

      @Skovorodnikof that's the problem.. everyone wants a 5 min fix and looks even into crazy examples.. let's say someone reads this comment and the most popular comment suggesting to push on the fuse with a screw driver without further checking what this affects.. with that you remove a safety option and if motor gets shorted your toothbrush, or toothbrush of a non suspecting loved one, could get smoking or even catch on fire depending on conditions... Now let's say you are not there to calm everyone down and this happens in America where everyone likes to Sue everyone.. how would manufacturer use this agains right to repair movement.. as said I'm not against fast fixes but we need to keep repair safe and this works only if you know what you are doing, so keep on learning!.. and then on the other side we have people who want to see everything and complain that something is not in the shot for 10s :)))) thanks for your comment and sorry for making a horror story out of it :)))

    Thx you for your detailed explanations in this repair help video. ;) After i had change the li-ion battery of the model pro 3 with - working (!) motor - that didn't load correctly (Thx to Raimund Checkt's iT, video: ua-cam.com/video/qy7ifOj-k-0/v-deo.html ). After the new battery was soldered in and loading works fine, the motor didn't start anymore. cause: current shunt resistor with measured resistance of 105 ohms. Short cut with a tool, like shown in video and motor starts on pressed button. But which value for the spare shunt resistor do you recommend for fixing this issue? really 0.2 ohms? and which value is working fine? ...or is a solder short sufficient? the smallest 0603 resistor i have in my store is 10 ohms, sandwiches three times as stack is 3, 3 ohms. tested: resistance is NOT small enough. ;( so it' seems i need to get a proper one!

    I had this problem about two years ago. At the time I didn't see this video or the "push down on the fuse" fix. I replaced the fuse with a piece of 30-gauge wire-wrap wire. The fuse is likely there to protect from the motor locking up. With a lithium-ion battery it could catch fire if there's a short-circuit, so using a heavier short for the fuse is not a good idea. That fixed it. I measured 1.042 amps when connecting battery + directly to motor +. Now the thing is totally dead, it quit during use. I have four volts at the battery and across the power switch. The switch works. Anyone know of how to fix it in this condition? Are there any other fuses, or a way to reset the micro-controller?

      I got some more information on the Oral B 3771. The MCU is the Texas Instruments CC2640R2F running on 3.3V. Reset is on pin 35, but there's a pad you can ground to reset it. Look for the pad near the corner clockwise from pin 1. By grounding this pad, I got it working again. The data sheet is available on the TI website. Pretty impressive chip! Bluetooth capability is built into this MCU. 3.3V can be measured on the pad to the right of the fuses. The board's build date code is above this, along the top edge, next to a lower-case "c".

      difficult to say.. I like Philips for having more exchangeable parts, but prestige is very difficult to get as spare part and if you get water inside you are screwed as it will damage electronics that is glued to the housing and there is no way to get to it. both will hold long if maintained correctly. both afraid of dropping (seen IO with cracked plastic head part and water gets through it inside of the toothbrush) one more thing that I don't like about IO is the toothpaste assembly inside of the plastic head, difficult to clean.. I think I replied to your email :) but yes testing it when cover is off you can see where the leak is and then try to examine that part.. just as info for someone who would be going through comments :)

    Many thanks. My 3766 pro2000 just didn't switch on the other morning. I viewed your video and the symptoms you describe for locked up motor were the same for me. I listened closely and heard the same short buzz but no action. Using a fine flat screen driver I pryed on the engine cog, I used a can of compressed air at the same time and the cog freed up and the toothbrush is back to running. It was damp inside when I disassembled, so I might use a tiny bit of rtv when closing it back up. Ran and started multiple times like new. 🙏🙏🙏 many thanks. 7:44

    Any idea to fix a braun io that is stuck on the start up screen and keeps looping?

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage Місяць тому

      have few of those but didn't had a chance to examine further.. the y lay in the "to do" box but I think my impression was that there was water damage and some traces on the back side were damaged.. but you need to completely disassemble the board to get to the back side.

      Mine was stuck on the language selection screen. The on/off button wouldn't select. I downloaded the app and paired it to the toothbrush. I was then able to change the settings and the toothbrush worked as expected. Mine was probably a software glitch, rather than hardware issue.

    Can the blades inside the head be taken apart

      @letsfixitgarage Місяць тому

      you mean blade in the replaceable shaving head? would be difficult to find new ones.. or what was your question?

    • @Med1na2012

      @ sorry I didn’t explain it a little better. Can the blades inside the shaving head be taken out and replaced with new ones was meant to be my question but I took mine apart and it’s not made to be opened. Once you open it you can never close it again. It has welds that permanently close it off and very sharp edges that can easily cut your fingers if you open it so beware. New head was $50 from the shaver shop and it lasts for a very long time anyway cheers ✌️✌️

    Thanks! Your guidance was really helpful in repairing two of my Philip Sonicare toothbrushes. Both had the problem of loose screw near the brush head. I wish there was an elegant way to open the bottom lid, but liked your approach.

      thanks for the tip! really appreciate it. as for opening it, there is another method of compressed air (6-8 bar) injection through upper seal (but you do have to destroy the seal) then the bottom cap pops off. in "defense" of my method its non destructive and leaves no traces if done right and with some experience ;) good luck and thanks one more time!

    Question! My brush tends to turn off after maybe 20 seconds or less of brushing. What can cause this?

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage Місяць тому

      my guess would be water inside and damage is starting to influence its operation.. but you can check this only by opening it and if water damage is there only skilled soldering can help.. check my other videos with water damage repairs..
