@@letsfixitgarage Good point. I have two brushes that don’t work. In one the battery lifts out at one end and I think there should be a lead which may be broken. As the leads are soldered the battery shouldn’t lift.

Hello LFIG, great videos. My diamondclean toothbrush no longer comes on when the button is pushed. I had repaired it earlier, fixing the "air gap" problem between the magnet and coil. I thought I was in the clear, and it worked for while but now the button does not turn the toothbrush on anymore. I disassembled it and still can't turn it on pressing the button on the pcb. I don't see any water damage anywhere. Any ideas? I doubt it is really the button failed but I haven't verified this.....
Check my water damage repair videos. It has test points that you can check with multimeter and see if main traces are ok. Main question ofcourse is did you found some water traces on the drive mechanismus and is the seal ok? usually main water damage is on the back side of the motherboard. Other things to check is battery voltage and fuse. But these things are explained as well in the water damage series videos. If you will have some questions after watching these videos let me know.
@@letsfixitgarage Wow thank you for the quick reply. I will do as you suggest but I see no sign of water anywhere. But I will look again. I have un soldered the battery and completely dissembled it. Battery voltage is good: 3.829 . I have a good Fluke 87 V voltmeter.
Good. If battery is ok then check in continuity mode fuse, and MOSFET controll traces I showed them in water repair videos. That's the main thing that go bad in diamondclean if there was water inside.. if this is ok one more thing is if water gets inside the button. That you will see in the videos as well ;)
@@letsfixitgarage Hello again... I finally got back to my old sonicare, and was able to disassemble and clean the button as per your video. This went well but unfortunately I wasn't able to reassemble the button properly. Just could not get the components to stay in place when I tried to re-attach the cover. Very frustrating. :(. I eventually lost a piece (it bounced off the work surface onto the floor) and I was unable to find it. So I have one last question: where do you get new buttons from?
Yes it's a tricky procedure and strong magnification is a must.. check your local electronic shop or look online for smd micro switch if I'm not mistaken height is 1.5mm
My tooth brush doesn't turn on at all. The inside was wet when I opened it. When I put it on the charger all the lights would just keep blinking. Any way to fix this?
Usually if the fuse burns through something else triggered it.. if the seal was damaged check motherboard backside for water damage. And fuse is for a reason if you know what you are doing and you are ok with something shorting out, or catching fire, you can bypass the safety element in other case I would just replace the fuse...
Hi, thank you very much for your videos. My toothbrush is fully charged, but when I press the button it doesn't vibrate at all. The lights all switch on and off twice and that's it every time I press the button. What would you advice me to do? Thanks!
I opened it and it was full of moisture. The top rubber was definitely and badly damaged. The inside smelled a bit like toothpaste. I soaked it with paper and then with an hair dresser. Right now it works. Sometimes the button doesn't work and sometimes when I reach the third press (third program) it shuts down. For now I don't really care but I plan to buy a new one soon anyway. Thanks a lot!
not sure what hair dresser is, but hope you dried it with a fan or high percentage alcohol before that.. as if moisture is trapped inside it could start acting up again.. and what was your solution for rubber seal? As that part needs to be exchanged as well.. It could be as well that the button has some moisture inside and needs to be replaced or opened and cleaned as it was shown in this video.. so either way some repair is needed if you want to use it in future, but if you want to get a newer model then of course it's not worth the additional effort..
Hello, i have the same problem with a broken rubber seal. It is still working but I am afraid that the water will get inside. Is it possible to repair/replace the rubber seal? Is it available to buy anywhere as a spare part it? Thanks
Yes it's exchangeable. You will need to take it apart and when you do take a good look if the pcb didn't started corroding and if you have some isopropyl alcohol it wouldn't harm to clean the board, button and then dry it out. If you will start to feel that time after time you need to press it hard to turn on, it means that water got inside the button and it got contaminated.. I have one video with button cleaning although it's quite delicate work... And as for the seal check out eBay and AliExpress.. that's my source, as there are no official spare parts for these toothbrushes..
Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/2_r7mLpVxRU/v-deo.html first off all take it apart and afterwards you will either find a loose screw or a broken head part. Either way it's easy repair if there still would be some notice check out the gap between magnet and electromagnet.. after this repair it will be as new again ;)
Hey, I've got problem with my P. Sonicare HX6912/51. It just doesn't vibrate, unless i move or try to pull out metal tip of the toothbrush [ to which you attach brush head ] then it starts to vibrate... Did you every encountered such a problem, or can u make a tutorial, how to fix that [ if it is actually repairable ]. Many thanks , Great videos / easy to understand tutorial.
Thanks for your comment. From what you described I would say the head of the toothbrush losened itself or broke off. Either way first you need to open it up and inspect it up close and I think you will find an answer in one of my videos ;) if no leave a comment and I will be glad to help out!
@@letsfixitgarage Thank you for quick reply, I would like to start with letting you know, that my toothbrush now WORKS!!! Hi there, and thanks for your videos. I have some trouble with my sonicare and maybe you know what could be the Problem. The case is: You can switch on the brush, it vibrates, one can feel it, but immedietly, it goes off again. Could it be a broken switch??
Hello thanks for good word :) it's possible but then it should turn on by itself too.. what about the upper rubber seal? Because water damage can have all kind of tricky behaviour.. and the best would be to take it apart and examine it closely.
@@letsfixitgarage Hi there. I disassambled it already and i cant see any water damage etc. The mechanic looks preatty ok, havnt used it a lot! You mean there can be somewhere a short circuit?? Hi my HX9903 does charge and lit up, and I can go through modes but no vibrations. I have made sure that there is some space between the magnet and coil. Any idea where else could be faulty to cause this kind of issue? Thanks a lot!!
Any sound or partial vibrations when you go through modes? One sugestion would be to check the mosfets maybe they are shorted out or the pcb traces but when the trace are damaged usualy it doesn't turn on at all.. for the traces fix/inspection check my last video.. hope this helps.

Tools are shown in the video. Take any tool that can gently squeeze the casing or if you buy the upper seal there is quite nice video of a guy who uses co.pressor to pop out the bottom cover without any squeezing or protecting the handle.. but you will need to replace the upper seal..
Older you mean with a hole in the cover? even if it would work how would you modify the cover to have a waterproof hole in it?.. havent tried it but in principle it's only supply voltage that maters you could measure it on both toothbrushes if it's similar it should work..

Yup, the chargers are incompatible for some reason.
My tooth brush doesn't turn on at all. The inside was wet when I opened it. When I put it on the charger all the lights would just keep blinking. Any way to fix this?
Check my other water damage videos there could be an answer to your problem.
@@letsfixitgarage yes i ordered it on Amazon. Thanks!!
Mine is still running but with a very loud noise and loosehead. What do you recommend?
Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/2_r7mLpVxRU/v-deo.html first off all take it apart and afterwards you will either find a loose screw or a broken head part. Either way it's easy repair if there still would be some notice check out the gap between magnet and electromagnet.. after this repair it will be as new again ;)
Thanks you very much. It helped me a lot.
After watching your other clip @ Philips Sonicare DiamondClean /no vibrations/ opening and repair --- I was able to quickly fix it.
the problem after all was in electromagnet, which as instructed I've separated by 0.6 mil. [ Luckly rubber seal and other parts were in perfect condition ]
Many thanks, for all the effort.
@@shranz20 thanks for feedback :) always nice to hear about a successful repair!
It is really strange. It turns on, tries to vibrate, and turnes off again, sometimes it vibrates fo 1- 2 seconds... Really cant understand the defect.
Check my new video about water damaged toothbrush repair. I speak more about it. And wster damage is usually on the back side not front..
Lets Fix It Garage thank you so much for your reply sir, much respect! Mine is the exact same model as your white diamond clean with Bluetooth in your previous video. So when I put it on to the charger, it charges and gives me two rapid vibration that indicates charging as usual. But when I press the power button, it lits up but does not vibrate and in the app it doesn’t show it’s running either. Anyway, thanks a lot for your advice, I’ll take a watch at your previous videos and definitely try your advice! Will tell you if it works! Thank again for sharing these videos, they are great and I have subscribed! Have a great day!
@@letsfixitgarage hey thank you so much and I just want to let you know I fixed it! I tried the same thing as you did in your white diamondclean fix video. I simply re-soldered the battery connecting points and let it reset and now it vibrates like before! Thank you again!
post HIGH def pictures of board, I just fix my brush, through-hole go open circuit, so peace of wire and it works...
Thanks for your fix! I assume you are speaking about the through-hole around the button? Which was the faulty in your case it would be interesting to test this method on my faulty boards..
@@letsfixitgarage it can be any through hole, it just need to be investigated. I would start at places with most corosion (green one, which indicate copper)
this is what is wrong with mine ?
1 question will the board light light up in the charger ?
all the light turn on still in the charger but the power button doesnt do anything
if the pcb is shot would the light still turn on ?
It's possible. I have few that even turns on for few seconds and then turns off.. water damage is always tricky.. and as said in video I even think that the problem could be not in some components but in pcb tracing, what makes the fault finding even more difficult..
also i have a hx939w but there are no parts for that model so im assuming its part of a series, what series would that be for ordering parts ??
@@letsfixitgarage okay thanks im just going to replace the pcb, now just need to figure out what series hx939w belong to
@@briandominico6244 im not 100% sure but all sonicare diamondclean toothbrush pcb's look quite similar.. i saw some pcb's on ebay and aliexpress but havent tried them.. usualy I just use them for spare parts :) good luck!
Let's Fix It Garage - How can I message you and send you a picture of my toothbrush? I have the internals exposed on a Phillips Sonicare Series 2 toothbrush and it looks like the motors has rusted and corroded. Just want your opinion on what you see.
If you have rust it will be water damaged. You can check my other videos on water damage and it's repair. Additionally my email is in channels about section.
Philips fails really easily my multigrooom trimmer and sonicare toothbrush both motherboard issues...i use braun now... Solid
Check my Braun repair videos.. just in case ;)
how can i have you fix my hx9340 diamond brush charged it turn on stays on for a short while 45 seconds they shuts off. i can go through modes at first then cannot later any ideas ?
hmm interesting defect.. it could be the battery if after charging it gets back to normal behaviour or water damage.. last one is quite unpredictable.. maybe the PCB trace is on the brink of colapsing and that makes it work like this...
Can you repair these sorry I have two that I think have similar issues? No charge intermittent button working when they had charge left
Sorry but you have to explain it in more detail couldn't understand what problem they have..
Lets Fix It Garage sorry I mean, I think I have two that have the same problem as they just stopped charging and switching on so had to warranty then buy another now
@@letsfixitgarage I'm having trouble opening my DiamondClean Smart handle. I have no idea what tools are needed. Are you able to share what wrench you used to get the edge open? I don't want to damage my handle at all. I would appreciate it.
Sorry somehow I don't get any notification about a reply need to check notification settings.. if it stoped rapidly I would suspect water damage.. I started to repair these damages as well but it's not 100% proof..
Tools are shown in the video. Take any tool that can gently squeeze the casing or if you buy the upper seal there is quite nice video of a guy who uses co.pressor to pop out the bottom cover without any squeezing or protecting the handle.. but you will need to replace the upper seal..
Hi, Is it possible to convert the diamond clean charging coil to the older version charging coil?
Older you mean with a hole in the cover? even if it would work how would you modify the cover to have a waterproof hole in it?.. havent tried it but in principle it's only supply voltage that maters you could measure it on both toothbrushes if it's similar it should work..
Lets Fix It Garage thanks, I have a water damaged sonicare hx8910, and a newer diamondclean 9351. But I don’t have the charger for 9351, so I’m thinking to swap out the charging coil from the 8910 to use the older charger.
@@FMeng I would look for a used charger :)) as said one thing is water tightness of the botom part as you will need a hole in it the botom cover and the covers are different on both toothbrushes. Then if the supply voltage after the coil is good other question is if the holes of the coil pins will match.. a lot of questions when a used charger can be acquired for cheap ;)
please try to get the part of un-clipping the internals from the case on camera
I get this request quite often.. will try to do it.
@@letsfixitgarage thanks :)
@@toshboshhd6424 had some time in the garage today so decided to fulfill your request on the short notice ;) hope it helps ua-cam.com/video/oMVa64Q13HA/v-deo.html leave a comment is this video useful or should it be replaced with something else?..
@@letsfixitgarage just watched it, very helpful. Thanks so much for this :)
i have this exact toothbrush needed to be repaired, do you accept devices currently? thanks
When I charge my philips diamondclean, it is flashing two green lights then one yellow and buzzing with each flash, when in the charger. Any ideas why this could happen please?
I would say that on/off button is shorting and turns itself on and off rapidly and because the battery is depleted it acts like this in the charger.. is the rubber seal on the shaft in good condition?
@@letsfixitgarage thank you, that makes sense! It seems like it may be the seal around the power button as the one at the top of the handle seems fine 🤷🏼♂️
link for the work station mat.
It's one of the older popular 2 in 1 hot air + solder iron Chinese stations. Not sure if it's even produced any more, but should be something like 853d
@@letsfixitgarage was more after the blue mat as the work area.
Ok, didn't understood you.. again the same chinese just search for "silicone soldering mat" and you will get more then you need :)
Most of the video is of his work bench. Who would go to this much trouble for a toothbrush?
that's always the case in the learning curve.. boring and long.. this video was my first attempt in water damage repair and sadly is not the best example, but you can always check other videos where you can find a summary of majority of defects and solutions to it in one video ;) that kind of video can come only after the boring part :)
As for the trouble I have already repaired more than 300 toothbrushes for different people. And when I read successful repair comments I really start to think that these video do make an impact...

plot twist: it couldn't be repaired,
Plot twist: it was written in the description ;)

No idea what you wrote :) but it looks quite cool :)
It would've been useful if we could've actually seen what you were doing 🤦🏻♂️
Sorry for that, this video was as testimonial for a first repair for someone else and at that time I didn't had to much experience with water damage.. check my other videos with water damage mentioning they are much more explanatory then this one ;)
