    How did you learn Spanish? I know you mentioned you had a tutor. How did you find them? I’ve been using Rosetta Stone which is helpful but I think it would help to also speak to another person.

    • @jonathanells

      I had a tutor for 3 years and the first year I used both Duolingo and the tutor. Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, and those other apps can help, but I don’t think they are super effective alone. I found my tutor on Upwork, but you can find tutors in pretty much anywhere. There are Facebook groups too. I’m glad to hear you want to learn Spanish because I feel too many nomads and expats simply don’t care - which kinda annoys me

    I love the DR so my comment has nothing to do with being judgemental…. It is more about being wise and safe. I have listened to many expats channels in DR and they explain that if there is an accident the foreigner will be at fault even if they were not and that people will collude regarding fault and injury. Also I would get insurance when renting a quad etc.

    • @jonathanells
      @jonathanells 14 днів тому

      Yes, I’ve heard the horror stories. No judgement here. I tend to be skeptical how often these things really happen, but of course they do, I think a lot of times the foreigners don’t speak Spanish. Whereas my girlfriend and I can. We live 24/7 in Spanish and are very careful with who we associate with and do business with. Obviously, there is always a risk of that in foreign countries. I know in Colombia they really are opportunistic with foreigners. I find a lot of foreigners are too naive, especially those being harmed in Medellin.

    Could I also supplement some of my protein needs with protein powder ? What’s the downside to that ?

    • @jonathanells
      @jonathanells 18 днів тому

      Absolutely you could. Protein powder is a convenient way to hit protein needs. The downside is if you drink it as a shake it won’t keep you full the same way like whole food proteins will, so you have to be aware of that - because it *could* make it easier to just add 120-150kcal to your day- like any liquid calories.

    • @jonathanells
      @jonathanells Місяць тому

      You’ve been listening to the wrong people my friend. Canola oil, for instance, the rapeseeds are just crushed and a food safe solution helps extract the oils. None of this remains in the final product. Oils can be used in dressings and sauces. It’s not just frying. Although these oils are more refined, it doesn’t mean they are toxic. Stop the madness.

      These are the exact lines that quack influencers tell their audience. Whoever you’ve been listening to on social media has you brainwashed. And this shows how little you actually understand about how oil is made. They use a solvent to help extract the oil from the seeds but it literally evaporates during the process and none is even found on the final product. And news flash - all oils are technically “ultra processed”. That doesn’t make them bad. What people REALLY need to be reducing is butter and animal fats. Saturated fat increases risk of heart disease and many other poor health outcomes. 👍🏼

    Which colmian cities have beautiful colorful homes and buildings? Any? Don't like bland blah colorless architecture.

      You’re looking in the wrong country. Barranquilla has *some* colorful architecture, but not much. Medellín is beautiful, but if you specifically want colorful homes and buildings, you should be looking at the Carribean islands.

    You will never get the workout you need by fatiguing your entire body. Your major muscle groups will be compromised and your smaller ones will be overworked.

      Maybe if you’re a bodybuilder. My philosophy is “Train movements, not muscles”. The vast majority of the adaptations for a person who is new at the gym come from the nervous system. So doing full body workouts for a new trainee it’s about getting practice in on the main movements while reducing risk of gassing out the nervous system or taking any given muscle til failure. It allows them to train their whole body more than once per week and recover well. But at the same time, there is no one “right way” to train - this is just my personal opinion after 14+ years training clients.
