15:30 thanks for your kind words about Peru being safer than Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, etc. I am sorry for the rob, hope you can enjoy the rest of your time here in Lima. Try to visit Magdalena del Mar, considered the safest district in Lima during 2023, also has ocean view, no pubs, no bars, no discoteques, etc. it has a 100% familiy oriented environment.
I’ve been to all of those places and I can say with 100% confidence that Peru is way safer as a whole. Thank you for your suggestion- I’ll have to check it out before we go! 🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing your experience. This makes me re-consider my trip to Peru because regardless of how good a country's cuisine is or how beautiful it is, safety will always be my top priority. If I can't even use my phone outside to take pictures or look at directions, or if I have to stay on edge to avoid getting robbed even in safe neighborhoods like Miraflores or Barranco, then it's not a vacation I would enjoy. For comparison, I have been to many European countries in which I had no issues looking at my phone when walking alone in the middle of the night. Moreover, the fact that I'm Asian will only make me stand out more as a walking ATM for criminals. Hopefully the Peruvian government will be able to enact more effective legislation to curb these types of crimes against tourists.
I appreciate the reply and I completely understand you feeling that way. Went to a MeetUp event today and one of the guys said his friend was out running recently with headphones in. He stopped to check his running route on his phone and a guy ON FOOT grabbed his phone and jumped into a car and took off. Crazy, eh? The police have spoken out on the news about the amount of petty crimes increasing and recently a cop had his face seriously injured trying to detain thieves on a motorbike in the San Borja neighborhood. All of these things seem to happen in Lima. We just got back from Cusco and it was loaded with tourists and felt more secure in general. But yes, the safety you get in most of Europe and Asia generally, you won’t get in most of Latin America outside of Argentina, Uruguay and Costa Rica. Safe travels 🙏🏼

Always use a burner phone. Don't use banking apps on your phone. I had my phone stolen in Seattle and they emptied my bank account. I won't fault any particular city for this type of crime. It's a crime of opportunity, as long as they're not sticking something pointy in face, I'm totally fine with it. My girlfriend had her phone stolen in S.F. - The common theme in almost every instance is people lacking situational awareness.
Exactly. Situational awareness. We were over-comfortable after Buenos Aires, and in our bubble, 2pm on a Sunday Monday. Usually always had a burner before. As I said, this time didn’t bring it. It was too slow. No banking on my phone- can’t use it anyway because I’m out of country
Supermarket tour! What kinds of healthy foods do they carry? Where can we buy protein powder and supplements? Pharmacy tour! Tour of your appointment! Appointment- options and prices? Also, could you provide information about transportation around Lima?
Love that idea- will definitely do the supermarket tour. And discuss the supplement thing. The apartments and transportation will be discussed in one of the next 2 videos 🙏🏼 Thank you!
Hello, I am chilean living in Lima. I have never been robbed. I guy driving a motorcycle and grabbing our phone = 99.99% venezuelan. You were lucky some of them grab the pursue of women and drag them on the ground. Lima is a nice bustling city , so many thing to do. Be careful with women selling their meets in the streets , they are also from venezuela/colombia.
Oportunistas. Pero definitivamente hay muchos peruanos ayudándoles aquí.
Buenos Aires got expensive recently, was not like now... don't want to get into a political discussion but before, chileans, uruguayans etc would cross into Argentina for shopping, now it is the other way around, argentines crossing into neighboring countries to shop.
Yeah exactly, it’s a tough situation there for locals. I felt it as a foreigner- I couldn’t imagine what it feels like for Argentinians working “normal” jobs.
