Decades ago I had a 1970 914 (1.7). The biggest problem I had with the engine was the fuel injection system being un-reliable. Most of the time it was a connector problem.... Wish they would have made an electronic fuel injection system with fewer electrical connections......
I bought a 75 2 ltr new, had it for years and sold it. It wound up at your shop for some work. Anyway my maiden name was in the manual and the last owner tracked me down. I declined to buy it back but it would have been fun. I still have the brochures, probably some service records.

in h.s. during the 1970's i drove a 1968 beetle that looked very much like this one. mine was the autostick. can't tell you have many times people asked me ' where's the clutch'?

Just doing this myself. If filing down a "high hat" to lower it in a pinch is OK, why isn't leaving one that us too low alone, or eliminating it completely so the ones that fit properly do the work? Missing one or two wafers should still permit the cylinder to work as intended.

What car is this on? On my '78 SC, there's no room to slide the bellcrank off the axle - there's not enough clearance between it and the rear trailing arm. The only option would be to remove the axle (which will cause the hole to leak trans fluid).
The original James Dean 550 had the Fuhrmann 547 engine.
"Perfect" would be a stretch- certainly not bad in it's era and a solid platform to start with
That's the one thing that blows with getting parts made. Min. quantities. We did some power supply covers (the manufacturer wanted about $100 each) at about $10-15 our cost, but needed to buy a minimum of 1000. Fortunately they all sold. We priced at $35-50.
That console looks just like factory Porsche.
I'm having a really tough time finding information on the S2 Oil Cooler, including the updated cooler you're referring to - would you mind please pointing me in the right direction? ...I've got a milkshake problem I need to fix.
I put a Kenwoord KDC-8001 in my 1966 Mustang back in the day. Fit in the factory location.

Thank you so much! An excellent tutorial! I am in the middle of troubleshooting my 914. Too long to go into here, but it all started with a fuel pump relocation to the front. Everything good - for about 5 minutes! Been downhill since. But, this video has been a great help! Thanks.
