Grandma's Apple Cake | Nolyns Kitchen
It's been a while since I posted my last video, but I was talking to my grandma the other day and she had a delicious recipe for an apple cake.
You know what they say about grandma's apple pie, they're always the best!
So I have to share this great recipe with you.
If you are a fan of a good cake that also mixes apples into the batter, then this is the recipe you should try! I wish you the best of luck, if you have any questions feel free to ask them below!

Shoppinglist
1 egg
75 grams of granulated sugar
60 milliliters of sunflower oil
150 grams of plain yoghurt
1 Lemon
160 grams of all purpose flour
8 grams of baking powder
Powdered sugar
Instructions
1. First add 1 egg and 60 grams of granulated sugar to a mixing bowl. Mix everything together.
2. Then add 60 milliliters of sunflower oil to the mixture.
3. Add the zest of a lemon and 150 grams of plain yoghurt.
4. Next add sieve 160 grams of all purpose flour and 8 grams of baking powder to the mixture. Mix everything together.
5. Use one apple and remove the core. Then cut the apple in half and cut small slices.
6. Add the batter to the baking tin and put the apple slices in the batter.
7. Sprinkle on top of the apple cake 15 grams of granulated sugar.
8. Bake the Apple Cake for 25 - 30 minutes (180°C).
9. At last add on top of the Apple cake some powdered sugar.

    I saw your 3 ingredient cookie recipe, but everything was measured in grams and ounces. Can you please let us know how much in tablespoons or cups?

      @@reallythere It's the best shortbread I've ever had. I make it every year for the holidays. I'm sorry the ingredients are in US measurements, but hopefully folks can figure out conversions. Shortbread Ingredients: 1 cup (1/2 lb) unsalted butter, softened (use the best quality butter you can; it makes a difference since there are so few ingredients) 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for those outside the US, it's what you call "icing sugar") 2 cups all-purpose flour Directions: Preheat over to 325 F. Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking pan; set aside (I like to use a stoneware pan, but if you don't have that and are using a metal pan, perhaps use parchment paper so you don't get a metallic taste (or use a glass pan). In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. With your hands, gather up the dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. (After it's all pressed in, I like to use a fork to make small holes all over the shortbread, and if you're so inclined, sprinkle regular/caster sugar lightly over the top, but you can skip this step.) Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until pale golden brown. Transfer pan to wire rack and cut into small squares immediately while still warm, or else you won't be able to cut them nicely. Let cool in pan. Makes 25 small squares or 9 large ones ha! I also like to cut them into fingers instead of squares like traditional shortbread. Enjoy! They last well, and everyone adores them and thinks it's so much more work than it really is. 😉

    Wow!! 😍 No question this is the best tasting Apple Cake but one or two tips.. for a heavier icing drizzle, replace whole milk with cream. The heavier the milk fat the heavier the drizzle.. a pinch of vanilla in there too and you will bite on your finger, trust me. 😅 The other tip (I almost forgot), add roughly chopped walnuts to cake batter and your partner will pop the question! 😂 Oops, one more thing, personal experience.. noticed whole wheat flour pairs best when it comes to cinnamon Apple desserts.

      Or! If you don't have one, I suggest weighing on a kitchen scale. Most I've seen give you options for which measurement to use, but always be sure to zero out when you put the empty to container on so that you get the right ingredient weight. Even though I bake, I always double check for international recipes about sugar. If you're like me: "Caster sugar in America is often called superfine sugar, baker’s sugar, castor sugar, [and] is ground to a consistency between granulated and powdered sugar in coarseness."       1/2 c. Butter, 1/2 c. B.sugar, 1 & 1/4 c. Flour. Bake @300 for 20 minutes.

    FInally someone who does things properly (even if you didn't mention adding the crucial pinch of salt with the sugar). I see way too many videos that mix in a damn egg. Boterkoek is not a cake.

      You could try to eliminate the sugar for coating of the apples, the swirl and the glaze. The taste outcome will be different, but the sugar total is 66% less!
