Hey, how did this work out for you in the long run? While this is a great idea, I wonder if those skewers breakdown quickly or start warping and falling out.
They did warp a bit but honestly it was a couple years before I needed to consider replacing them. I ended up getting the new grate from Masterbuilt that is supposed to solve for the problem but honestly I liked this setup better. I left the middle without a skewer and it let's a few more coals drop but I don't have as much trouble with ash buildup. If I have a middle one in, too much ash stayed up top and it's harder to light and also has some challenges hitting higher temps when I want to.
@randomjoe7646 I actuality found that I'm having that issue when I use chunk charcoal. Haven't tried this, but I could definitely see the benifit with brickettes.
@@TealDobber yep, I like that it's customizable and cheap. Just add a couple to help limit the waste but leave enough gap to allow it to still get to the temp you want or leave a gap on one side to allow some coals to drop down on your wood chunks, etc. Pretty simple.
I'm looking at the Keter brand for a deckbox/bench. Since it's been 4yrs, how's your bench holding up today? Has it truly been water proof?
Color has faded a bit but it's held up great and it stays outside all winter. I still store my charcoal inside of it and it's never gotten wet. It's been perfect for my needs.
Where did you get it? I can’t find one for any less than $250
Sams club online $100
Unfortunately I don’t think they carry this anymore
It could be you bought rubbish quality magnetic cable and plugs. I have been using this system for many months now. But if you complain about how easy it is for the magnetic connection to disconnect then do not bother to purchase these cables I find the great.
Great review. I'm definitely not going to get this for the bed. I'm going for one with arms that I can swivel easier as I turn from one side to the other via spending time on my back. I learnt I need a two-clamp for the base for it to work mounted on vertical bed rest as many of these phone holders are only good attached to a horizontal surface like a table.
Saiji ka lena acha rahega ya xtore ka please reply value for money konsa hai?
I use it on occasion so for my use, this is fine for the money. There are better options out there but most cost a bit more so you have to decide what is best for you.
From what I understand the grate originally had smaller gaps. The one like you have is the new version. I can't remember why they changed it but it was for good reason.
thats a grate mod not a hopper mod
Great Mod. How is your grill and switches holding up. I see a lot of you tubes where switches melt especially the grill one.
I had once that I hadn't cleaned the grill for a while and was making a full grill of burgers and had a big grease fire that melted the grill switch. I got a new one from Masterbuilt and put it in no problem and everything was fine again. It can definitely happen but in my case it was mainly because I hadn't cleaned it out for too long and had a lot of grease because of cooking so many burgers at once. More a me problem than the grill. Other than that, it's been a really good grill.
@@randomjoe7646 Thank for your honest answer. I am still on the fence about this grill because of all the issues but I also see those professional smokers that never mention those issues after numerous cooks. It gets you thinking about their loyalities. Just my 2 cent.
This is an old issue now. I hope those who might be interested in this grill but might think otherwise due to this video see this. Masterbuilt revised the charcoal grate. It works amazingly now, and I can get nearly 10 hours of smoking at 225 with a 16 lb bag of briquettes
How is the compartment with heavy rain? I'm in Florida😂
I'm in North Dakota so I have nowhere near what you have for rain. So far I've not had any problems with leaks inside and it's been a couple years. I would recommend you have a lock or something to hold that latch shut if you have heavy wind as it could blow open. I've had it do that but only when it wasn't completely closed because I had a charcoal bag not completely pushed down inside.
Failure
I have one of these and had some difficulty getting the twist heads to go in because the pre cut holes did not align. Other than that, barring the small cosmetic flaws, this is a sturdy, low cost, storage bin for your patio/swimming pool deck. Cost: about $120. (preassembled and delivered)
piece of junk...used mine handful of times just before covid. just pulled this out of the bag and first thing that happens is the hinges crack.
Thanks for this I got mine last week and used it today but I didn't hold it down so it didn't work and of course didn't read the instructions so..but it really works great.
Hi There, thanks for the review but you have not said how comfy (or not ) it is to sit on?
It's plastic without padding so comfort isn't it's strong suit. I'd compare it to a non-padded folding chair. Good enough to sit on for a bit but not great if it's going to be for hours. I hope that makes sense.
good info .... now how do you stop the grease leaking down the legs of the 560??!!
Something must not be sealing properly on yours. I know mine wasn't quite square when it came from the factory so that doesn't surprise me too much.
The Gravity series is total shit. I've had my grill for 6 months and so far have had to dismantle and clean it, replace 2 switches & a cord and the computer will not update or connect to my phone. The fan will randomly quit working. I've had emails to and from the company and demanded phone calls. I've gotten exactly 3 cooks out of it and have been embarrassed with guests waiting on food. IT IS A PIECE OF SHIT!!! Don't buy it.
Hey there! Do you know the box measurements? Would you say about the same of a shoebox? Or is it bigger? Trying to get one shipped overseas, thanks so much!
Good review.. I purchased one , got it today but haven't used it yet. I'm sure it will be just fine.
I've had 6 of these for almost two years, used by me, my wife and two kids on a daily basis for charging phones, ear buds and headphones. None of them have failed in that time. Mine are the 3-in-1 type with micro, C and iPhone connectors and we use all three - wife has an iPhone and an android tablet. The great thing is that you can use one lead to charge different items. For example four of our phones use USB-C and three sets of headphones use micro-USB so we leave the end in the device and just connect the cable to whatever needs to be charged. The only issue we have had is that of dirt and that's easily fixed with a dry toothbrush and air can. My daughter has lost a couple of USB-C ends somehow (probably in the hoover!) but we have had no broken ends at all. I think you have just been unlucky there. I've actually just ordered three more but was disappointed to see that they no longer come with the iPhone tips. I'm curious as to why that is no longer included. Did Apple put their oar in? I also much prefer this Gen10 version with the slim rectangular connector. The new Gen12 has a larger round connector which will likely not fit a phone which has a protective cover.
I appreciate the comment. I had two break like this(one from Gen7) but I think it's more likely if you have something that may flex that connector, like a case that fits tight on one side, etc. I still like them a lot and use them still. I just wanted to give that warning so people know the possibility exists. I'm glad you haven't had the problem.
Hi we just purchased the same grill. When you smoke does smoke come out the lid of the coal hopper when smoking. Smoke is leaking out the seal. Does yours do the same. Thank you. Great video 👍. Going to put the skewers in ours as well 👍
No, but mine seals really well thankfully. I know a lot of other people have had that happen. If it's only a small amount it's not a big deal but the more you have, the more it's directing heat and smoke where it shouldn't be and you'll also have more charcoal getting lit further up the hopper. It's worth keeping an eye on.
@@randomjoe7646 I double folded a piece of foil and lift the lid. When I placed it down and secured the lid again the smoke stopped leaking. The digital display is bad and will not read. It remains black. Masterbuilt is sending us a replacement digital display. Thank you for your reply. God bless 🙏
@@indicagirl7876 Glad you got it worked out.
Having so much trouble putting it together
Did this yesterday and it sure did the trick! So easy! Thanks!!
Great to hear!
I finally contacted them about mine and then said they no longer carry the parts and its discontinued. I asked them for a 3d file or schematic of the piece so I could print one. They said that with the manufacturer of the parts so that can't send that. So I am now left to either try to design my own piece or find one online.
Did you end up designing replacements? They haven't even replied to my email.
The LS50x is basically identical. I wonder if parts for that headset would work!
Has water ever gotten inside? Also, is that gray dusty plastic also coming up/off on the seated portion, and does it leave it all over your cloths?
tell me price of machine 🙏
I paid 34.95 for mine. Ebay
How's it look now?
I bought one yesterday and i was expecting that i needed to do this. However my grate was update and has an extra layer in it to catch smaller debris .
hears an idea, after a cook save the ashes, and pour them over the new charcoal, that way any ash will fall back down, and any bigger pieces will get caught on the new charcoal and get burned the second time.
yep, I put the bigger chunks up there initially. Some will burn, some will fall through. This just helps catch more.
I use a kitty litter scoop and separate the small chunks out of the ash bin and drop them right back in the hopper.
Will it make much difference if the quality of the replacement parts are exactly the same
It'll get you a few more years but you're right, it'll eventually break.
Hey Random Joe - thanks for taking the time and effort to produce this excellent, easy to follow, video on the use of Rester's Choice Hot/Cold Pack. With upcoming knee surgery your experience is really helpful.
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Are you still using this cover? How does it stand up to rain? I had a nice pellet grill that I bought a cover for and it did not do well in the rain. Rain got through the cover and into the pellet hopper and all the pellets into 1 big chunk.
I do and it works very well in the rain.
Use aircraft stainless safety wire to secure the skewers
huh, not a bad suggestion.
Is it still working after 2 years? Whats ur take now? Recommended?
I still use it and it works fine. I have the same thoughts on it being ok for the basics of holding your phone but if you are planning to use it to record videos, etc. it has a lot of wiggle and you should use something else.
this or the kaira pro? looking to get a headset for my series x with good footstep audio
I’m having trouble getting it together. The side legs just won’t clip in 🤷♀️
currently having this problem. the metal strips on the inside block it from fully seating in.
Lucid never replied to my issue with these brackets. There's a small crack left side of my LS31le's that I fixed with tiny zip ties. Put 2 together and pulled them as tight as I could, a set of 3 loops around each bracket. The headset is roughly 3yrs old with zip ties on for a year, the crack hasn't grown in size since.
Do you still get enough hot coals falling through to get the wood chunks smoking well?
I do but I've been running with only 2 for a while now. Seems to give the best performance for me so I can still get higher temps.
Have the long version of lofter . What do you typically set yours at for white bread 🍞? Ty
Personally I use 4 but people like different levels, some lighter and some darker.
@@randomjoe7646 thank you I was guessing 4 might of been a good average setting
Just got my cover off of Amazon. It was an extremely tight fit. Took several minutes and a lot of effort to get it over the grill. Box says it for the 1050 and the tag on the inside of the cove has a model number that matches for the 1050. I can’t imagine it being made to fit this tight.
Definitely doesn't sound like mine. Mine was a really nice fit and not hard to take on and off. Almost sounds like you got the cover for the 800 and it was mislabeled. When I put my 1050 together they had sent me the 560 axle which didn't work. I reached out to Masterbuilt and they sent me the proper part. I'd either try Masterbuilt directly for a replacement or just return through Amazon.
How is it doing currently? Still working good?
yes, still works the same and looks pretty much like it did when I got it. Probably a touch of fading to color.
I just bought one. I couldn’t figure out how to attach it to the table. I thought it was a clip that wasn’t working. This video was awesome to show me what I was doing wrong! I’m very happy with the holder to watch TV.
Glad it helped!
Masterbuilt has since changed the design of this grate to catch more fuel.
I tried this and they keep coming out
That stinks. You can bend them and put them between the grates at a 90 degree angle instead. That won't let you remove them as easily later but should keep them in place better.
Can I use a type c to type c adapter for the charger instead of the quick charge 3.0?
Specs state the following options - up to 10W for Galaxy; up to 7.5W for iPhone; up to 5W for any Qi-enabled Device
I had a similar type (magport) plugged into mine for 2 years & dropped the phone too many times onto the connector . It punched the inner part into the phone killing the micro USB charge port connections . Good thing I had wireless charging. I will still use magnetic connections due to convenience of charging and it reduces the risk of tripping on the cable causing phone drops .
Do they send you some or can you buy them on line
I didn't find them online to buy but I contacted them and they sent me them for free.
Great idea
