I just made 2 weeks from the ACDF C-3-6 surgery on 7/16/24. I experience that Feeling of something stuck in my throat along with some issues with breathing when trying to sleep on my first week. I kept using the breathing gauge to open my lungs and I would drink some water or tea. Which help I also sit up some for a while until I begin to feel better enough to lay back some in a upright position to sleep. It has improve. Thanks for sharing about the bone stimulator.

I’m having c3 to c7 lam with fusion posterior. Question.. with aspen collar, which I will be wearing, are you able to keep back straight, butt stuck out, bend over without bending neck of course with collar on? I can’t find any info, and I want to practice my movements with my collar on which I have. Surgery is next week.

It’s been eight weeks since my ACDF surgery, and I’m still experiencing pain that starts at the base of my lower neck and extends across my shoulder, down into my arm and hand. My left pinky, ring finger, and middle finger are numb, including the back of my hand. Additionally, I suffer from migraines originating from my neck. Although the pain is no longer throbbing, it’s constant. .

I can tell you that after every surgery/anaesthetic I have had(about 15) I lost hair and my nails got brittle and kept breaking for about a year but then things improved. I did find collagen helped but it is not a fast help. I can’t say about the fusion as I am still waiting for mine since last March. Good luck and hope things improve.

I just had 3 level ACDF surgery 3 weeks ago. Doing great! Totally agree with the feeling of security wearing the Aspen collar. I must wear it all the time with the exception of eating and taking a shower. I have to sleep in it. It is a really good collar; very supportive and secure. I’m with you on who cares what others think. It’s none of their business anyway. Agree with being in a car; it’s tiring and nerve-wracking.

Yes. He said I didn’t have to sleep in it at all ever. He did say that all surgeons have different views on this though. I tried to sleep on my back only. I woke up a couple of times early on with my head sort of turned to the side and it freaked me out. But for the most part I was able to sleep in a very still position on my back.

Day 10 I really started feeling SO much better, and most of all HOPEFUL again!! It’s hard now not to get up and do EVERYTHING!! I’m sorry you are struggling with the hair loss! I’ve never heard of anesthesia doing that to you.
