It’s been eight weeks since my ACDF surgery, and I’m still experiencing pain that starts at the base of my lower neck and extends across my shoulder, down into my arm and hand. My left pinky, ring finger, and middle finger are numb, including the back of my hand. Additionally, I suffer from migraines originating from my neck. Although the pain is no longer throbbing, it’s constant.

I’m not glad you are having those issues but I am happy that you are having the same issues!! No one else on UA-cam has had these issues!

I was so excited to see you posted today!! I’ve thought of you often, I figured you were busy with the move! You look FANTASTIC!!! Tomorrow I will be two weeks post-op 🥳 Thank you for sharing your progress!! You have reminded me to keep myself in check!! Day 10 I really started feeling SO much better, and most of all HOPEFUL again!! It’s hard now not to get up and do EVERYTHING!! I’m sorry you are struggling with the hair loss! I’ve never heard of anesthesia doing that to you. (I have been under quite a few times now) You answered my thoughts right away with having your thyroid tested! lol I struggle with Hashimotos, a thyroid autoimmune disorder….along with a few autoimmune conditions which can cause hair loss 🤨
I felt like I’ve caught up with an old friend 🥰 I’m so happy for you!! Please take it easier on yourself 😉

Praise the Lord, Hallelujah! I’m SOOOO glad you’re through the first two weeks and most of all fell hopeful and better! 😍 I’m so happy for you!! It’s so good to hear from you, too!!! I have been thinking about you and wondering how you are doing! Thank you so much for commenting! 🤗 I was thinking that’s what I had, too (hashimoto)! But my TSH, T3 & T4 are normal. This is so crazy. Maybe I can find a new doctor that won’t leave to figure it out if it doesn’t stop or doesn’t come back. 😅 It IS hard when you feel good to stay down! But please try. 😆☺️ I learned that I can take 10 steps forward, then overdo it and go 3 steps back. Over and over again and it becomes annoying. But who knows. Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to happen to heal and strengthen. I’m so happy for you!! How are you getting along in your neck collar?

Nevermind about the neck collar question! Another praise that you don’t have to wear one! 🙏🙌 My surgeon said it is more to remind other people that they have to be careful with ME. lol

@@necksurgerymama3157 lol with all my different health issues, I thought God had a silly sense of humor! Usually the only thing that slows me down is when my pain level is at 15 🤪 I guess wisdom comes with age 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Most of the time, your blood work will come back fine with autoimmune thyroid issues. Next blood work your are able to get, ASK for a thyroid antibody test. These are not run on the norm, and you might be questioned….but be your own advocate and stand your ground! I made my mom get one when I started having issues (early 2000’s- having a child seems to bring it on if you’re predisposed) To my surprise, her numbers were worse than mine!
On another note, and so Off Topic….
I remembered you said you would be a bit away from your old community…. Have you found any homeschool groups in your new area?
Hope you don’t go MIA for to long 😉 but definitely understand 🥰🥰
Stay well, stay on course, TAKE CARE of you ( those kiddos will want you to hang around healthy - long term), and be blessed!!!
      Thank you for replying ✝️🧚🏽‍♂️💜

@@flightlessfairy2281 oh my gosh! Me, too!! It’s still the same homeschool community here. It’s just now 45-60 min away versus 20 minutes from where I used to be. Lol! I know. My kids say they want to do co-op this fall. I have to figure out what to teach! 😆
Ohhh wow!! Thank you SO MUCH for this info on thyroid testing! I need to find a doctor and I will be asking for that! I’m gonna take a screenshot of your comment so o remember! You’re so awesome! I’ll let you know when and if I find a doctor soon. Because something just isn’t right with this much hair loss. 😬

I can tell you that after every surgery/anaesthetic I have had(about 15) I lost hair and my nails got brittle and kept breaking for about a year but then things improved. I did find collagen helped but it is not a fast help. I can’t say about the fusion as I am still waiting for mine since last March. Good luck and hope things improve.

I am still sporting my Aspen Vista Collar neck brace it is so uncomfortable.
a week ago I was grocery shopping when I seen this women wearing the same neck brace. so we talked about how we landed in these neck braces.

Ohhh yes. I had sooo many people come up to me and say I’m so sorry, I was once in your shoes. Some would say it gets better. It was definitely comforting to know that other people in the world have been through it and understand. How far post-op are you now?

I can’t imagine wearing a collar in this heat! I am fortunate my neurosurgeon doesn’t use a collar or bone stimulator with his patients! I can imagine that after 3-6 months losing a lot of muscle tone🤔 Good luck and a rapid recovery to you!🧚‍♀️

Flightless Fairy, Oh wow!!! You know, my surgeon said that 20% of surgeons won’t give their patients a neck collar. You just answered the question I asked you in another post. 🤗 Please keep me updated on how things go for you without the neck collar! I’m so interested!

    • @necksurgerymama3157
      @necksurgerymama3157  2 роки тому

Nope. I was given the all clear at my 3 month post op visit when they did a CT scan to check for fusion. They said I didn’t have to wear it anymore and that I can turn my head when but not excessively. Whatever that means. 😅

@@necksurgerymama3157 Funny! On the norm, I am such a klutz! ( and I fall…a lot may be another issue🙄I’m going to have to deal with) My family was REALLY concerned with me not having a brace…hindsight… I’m glad not to have it! I don’t like things around my neck as it is, so it probably would have driven me nuts! It definitely made me VERY conscientious of my movements & to take it easy! However, I am afraid to go out in public…kids, animals, getting bumped into etc. My first ride in the car since coming home will be a follow up appt. Wednesday. Im already anticipating a muscle relaxer before going🤦🏻‍♀️
