The Havard free course: thank you for bringing that to my attention. that is the main take away i got from this video. Being in the U.K. I hope i can enroll to it, it seems i can however course has already started and have my hands full still learning blender. the guy in question probably has some solid skill in a different art form hence wanting to know the basics in a foundational way, but the content here is probably overkill. this is like super -under the hood - level stuff. I had the same questions sort of surrounding baking and texturing....almost makes me think you are responding to a recent post...from reddit maybe? lol but yeah this is stuff that for now goes over my head. Im more curious just on a foundational understanding of texturing/materials/shaders in a way that it relates to the art to achieve what I want. like simple low level stuff that can then be expanded upon just like your maths example. starting point could be a cereal box. simple geometric shape, but then develop concepts to have certain wear and tear like maybe colour starts to fade, maybe one side gets exposed to water so is damp. maybe its been sitting in an abandoned building gathering dust and all manner of other elements. like how do you go about learning texturing that frees you from tutorial city and allows you play on your own. the answer i've found isnt to just do tutorials but you need a proper education on what they are and how to achieve those things conceptually. my own problem is that because i believe there is a more efficient way to learn something, it stops me from simply jumping in lol. like how knowing your basic primitives and light fundamentals (core shadow, bounce light, occlusion etc) frees you from slavish following reference. for folks interested in that computer science course. this may also wet your appetite too! w3schools(dot)com sorry for the wall of text! PZ thank you for sharing your knowledge freely!
In this case, no it's not from reddit. Just a conversation that unfolded worth a video. Edx is just a fun resource all around. I've done a few of them and it's enjoyable. UA-cam has some really good in depth learning. The videos can be hard to find but it's out there. It's not usually real popular so it gets buried by the algorithms.
For the right person, these type of mentorship videos are invaluable. Before blenderbro or other technical course you have to pay for. This is the gap you are filling. Extremely useful for starters. Pz is actually trying to help people. Crazy in 2024. Id do more mentorship videos dude.
pz wants us to succeed..Say it with me..Pz! Pz! Pz! Pz! Woooo...thanks pz for helping us..
These free flowing high level videos are my favorite !

Вот это тема.
You should check out auto-merge mode when fixing up topology. It will automatically merge any vertices that are close to each other (based on specified distance). It's more fluid than having to run merge by distance operator manually over and over again. Just don't forget to turn off the mode once you are done with topo cleanup or it can produce some unexpected vertex welding.
PzThree is actually Arrimus3D Of Blender
Thats insane! What a gem
I want to be a 3d environment artist, and I find it really helpful, thank you so much
legend has it the 3 in pz three is because he slays every triangle he comes across..
Thank you huge fps increase
I am your number 1 fan
That SDF thing make modeling look a lot more friendly than the other way we traditionally go.
I wonder if it would be easier for the developer to take this to Blender 4+ with the new geometry nodes, it should offer a more flexible capabilities
Whats the purpose of the face sets?
This is what I needed. Thanks a lot.
Your videos are always relaxing and informative to watch
Finally someone explaining sub d. I followed so many tutorials that ended with poor shading and limited workflows. All while pushing their $100 courses. Thank you for finally helping me achieve my goals sir.
Whats it the name of add on that can give info how much a degree when using knife tool ?
Up
Its not an addon, goto prefrences / keymap / search for the knife tool (k key), expand it and change the settings even if they are greyed out. Turn on measure angles, set to 5 deg.
pzthree you are the goat
This is just what I needed, thank you
Have I ever told you that I love you? Well I guess this is that. Thanks for the superb content as usual!
The last thing I truly missed from Max is finally here, not fully but this is almost enough and I believe in the future (in combination with geo nodes) it will be even better then Max
Awesome. Blender is more like Max. The thing I've started my modeling with. Cool. Love it
And..... Installed it asap! I did not know this addon existed! And it has the old Modifier ui stack, too.
I wish I had to make changes in frozen modifiers like in a 3DS Max stack))
Does it bake GN too? I can add armature after this? I’m done for the day and not moving back to the desk to test. Ha. This is just great though. Opens things up so much I’ll have to remind myself not to limit what I can do
Yes. If instancing realize instances. You will be able to hop into edit mode then. Armature works as well.
Please make the same tutorial using retopoflow
which is good ? Conjuresdf and MD
Pros and cons to both. MD for desktop can't bring in reference images. Has the ability to array including radial array. Doesn't have sub shape nesting. Easier to change shape dimensions. Triangle and quad export (quad remesher). The "clay" system for MD and VR is still a part of the software and super useful by itself. Not a very strong sculpting software, but it's a surprisingly capable modeling program. Conjure currently works best with 3.3. It is still in alpha, and beta / release will cost more (with reduced pricing) The renderer is performant. Can nest sub shapes. Doesn't array shapes. Voxel remesh only. (Voxel mesh can be further refined with sculpting and quad remesher addon if you have it). Sculpting in blender is a better experience. It's tough to really make a recommendation. Conjure alpha is still really useful for modeling and the support for the creator will hopefully keep pushing it's development along. Buy substance if you want to have fun with sdf and clay. Experiment with a different way of 3d modeling especially in VR.
very useful
where to download?
Extensions in the preferences. Its the fork version. Might be on github as well.
@@pzthree what is its name? i can't find it in extensions
@@simsimsim-n2t modifier list
Least it's another great step forward, until we keep improving it !!
About the only thing I enjoy more in 3ds Max compared to Blender is how the modifier stack works. Although definitely not to the same level yet, this gives me hope that Blender can have a modifier stack with the same degree of flexibility in the future.
@@mini_moeller9032 yeah I like the modifier stack options in Max but like the smoothness of the Modefier stack in blender more. Let’s just see if we can keep improving and get ahead in the options department
hallelujah, it happened. There are still many things you can borrow from 3D max ))
which, give me examples...
Unfortunately not As good as in Max.
True but still really useful and better then nothing.
will paying for bandwidth is good than paying for max. lol
Don’t really see the difference. How is Max version better? The fact that is Blender and not have to use Max makes it better. Max is a dinosaur tool.. loved it, missed it but now can’t go back to it
@@hectorescobar9450 The max is actually non-destructive and you can always add, delete and change anything in pre-modifly versions. While here it is not possible to only just if you delete the modifly
(I hate Max by the way)
So basically C4D logic now haha
Oh wow, that actually is a game changer 😊
Nice.
Try to do same things on curved surfece, "This is where the fun begins".
