when I was younger I made a counterstrike map inspired by some of the environments from this game, naturally it was terrible & had zero gameplay functionality. but ey atleast it wasn't another devtexture map lol. Have been modding an obscure(ish) cryengine 3 survival game for the last 3-4 years and recently your videos have been vital in increasing the quality of my 3D assets, keep on rockin' man!
Loved this game, it has such an adventurous feeling to it. I remember at the begining dodging helicopters and crawling in the tall grass togheter with a buddy o mine. Good times.
It would be interesting to hear your opinions of or explain the environments of some new game. Im curious if the techniques of game environment art have changed much over the past few years and with Unreal 5 being out and advancements of hardwear.

This is fucking Gold!!! I have this addon, I bought it and yet I complained how it doesnt work on ngons/triangle meshes from Plasticity, but I see now what I did wrong! With marked edges that come from Plasticity thanks to Blender bridge, this method should work gold, no? Even mayor areas Plasticity can mark with different colors and I could translate those to different materials like you did, what could also help? I mean this looks super promising and nothing I explored or thought about when I tested! What I am trying to say like the other commenter, thank you for making this! And if you can respond to this comment with your thoughts on what I mentioned, it be awesome :)
It will often times still fail. No matter how much you prep the model. So it can be hit or miss. It's worth exploring it's limitations though. As it can be extremely useful for pushing out some quick subdivision mesh that you can usually clean up and take further.
"Krita is not the best software for this" ... What about Gimp?
You could try it out see how it goes. I don't use gimp. Never liked it.

As the word suggests, taking photos and 'kit-bashing' them together into something as shown in the vid. Kit-bashing is an old term for model making using everyday objects {plastic cups, toothpicks, empty toilet rolls, shampoo bottles etc), left over model parts and/or sprig trees. The first Star Wars movie is the most well known example of kitbashing.

Not heresey. I wouldn't do the viewers like that. Just have to look at the job posts. "substance, photoshop, Blender/Maya/Max, unreal" is usually how it goes.

I thought I was a mid or sth bc I understend topology, bevel weights and all that staff but the speed you can create those things... It's just amazing

Blender 4 has the face snapping project individual elements as its own snapping mode instead of an option on regular face snapping. It’s in the same menu as usual.
