Homeschooled Adults: Insights & Lessons Learned
jeena was fast w that one🤣
i love the comfort pillows
In South Africa we call it a stationary list and we get that in December when school closes ,it's hectic
I was in junior high in the early 90’s and where I grew up, if you lived within 3 miles there was no bus. My mother forgot to pick me up completely. No one noticed until they finally answered the house phone and I informed them.
That's awful!! 😢
If working on a pension it is not always so easy to job hop. So people stay in jobs that make them miserable. Unions help to provide workers with job security. Very hard to get rid of a bad employee.
Thank you for sharing this insight!!
there's a difference between a traumatic experience, and a shitty experience.
Both can definitely be traumatic! Some people have said that was the start of their anxiety, or that this has affected them into their adulthood.
Loved this. Do informative. Jeena, what was your profession/job before having the kiddos. Were you an educator? I know you home school the kiddos.
Hey Jenna and Drue! I would love to work with you on my career and resume if this is something you are interested in doing. I will pay fo the resume service. I have been with my company for four years and I feel like I am stuck.
Going 45 min early is nuts 😊
Sometimes it’s necessary depending on the families schedule, any activities the kids might have after school, and how long the carline takes 😊
We don't get their supply lists until after they start school. My kids started today and I still have no idea what they need
So they just went with an empty backpack? 😳 I wonder why schools would do this!
@@HeyThereAdultingPodcast Well I bought them some pencils and markers, but other then that, I still have no idea what they need. I thought they would come home yesterday with some kind of supply list (they are in 2nd and 7th grade), but nope!
So many people I know borrowed against their pensions and got stuck working longer than they would have if they didn't have to borrow.
Been awhile since pensions pay you your full salary. You probably get 30% and tou also contributed to it. Also. Matching 401k money doesn't always happen.
Used to be you needed a #2 pencil and a folder and notebook for each class. Boom you were done with school shopping.
The good ole days 🥲
Chilis is the one w the 10$ meal deal. Applebees is $$$$
Love your podcast, great episode. Would love to hear more on Jeena’s experiences as a housewife/mom and transition into entrepreneurship.
Thank you for watching❤ That’s a great idea! We’d love for you to add any ideas or suggestions on our feedback form at the link in this videos description.
My mom did the same also it was because we lived in a poor area so not all the kids in my school could afford everything on the lists. And birthdays my mom would show up with cake and cooked food during lunch hour for everyone to eat and paid for it all. ❤❤❤❤❤
Cooking food for everyone is so sweet 🥹❤️
Great episode, guys ❤
Thank you for watching❤
Traffic traffic looking for my chapstick
feelin kinda carsick
Feelin kinda carsick, THERES A FORD MAVERICK!!! 😂
I would never ever pay that. I liked to park a block down the road and walk to their school. Then my kids would tell me their whole day while we walk and hold hands back to the car. This is a win-win, and it was free.
Honestly that’s a smart idea 👏
I'll never understand why people shame parents for not homeschooling. It's not the 'right way.' Most parents have not undergone the proper training and education required to effectively teach their children! In addition to children having little to no intellectual challenge, homeschooling deprives them of everyday opportunities to socialize with kids their own age of different backgrounds.
While I’m not a teacher, I am a special education assistant and guess what, my kids hate learning from me. During the pandemic was absolutely miserable when it came to school work. They were miserable.
Jeena and Drue’s kids participate in a co op, that way they get to socialize with kids their age and participate in school activities 3 days out of the week!
Literally none of that is true about homeschooling. If you don't want to homeschool, that's fine. But trust me, that is absolutely not true.
Two of my favorite families!!
You dont have a right to a culture.
Huh?
Black is a skin color, not a life style.
Oh, I guess Black history, art, and music are just side effects of melanin? Fascinating take 👍🙄
@@HeyThereAdultingPodcastI think you misinterpreted what they said.
@@jukelohnson5095this commenter also said jeena doesn’t have a right to a culture.. so I don’t think I did
@@HeyThereAdultingPodcast you can adopt whatever culture you like.
What is your opinion on albino people?
Not the hunger games reference
Right 😭
❤❤❤❤❤❤
To be fair, a LOT of people go into healthcare to help people, and find out its just a money hungry machine. Its heartbreaking 😅
I see nothing wrong with this ?😭
Do you think it looks better to have more experiences or does job hopping impact your resume?
@@HeyThereAdultingPodcast I think it’s better to have more experience. He sounds like he didn’t know what he wants to do in life, so getting out there and just doing things is super good for him because it will lead him to figuring it out. I also think it is good for your résumé since a lot of employers WANT people with tons of experience from different things. I don’t think we should limit ourselves with our capabilities either just because we want a certain job.
@@HeyThereAdultingPodcast I understand that it may cause some stress on the family, but if he’s able to get jobs so easily, makes connections very easily as well (since he has been through many work environments), then it would actually make ME, personally, feel more at ease.
It seems like he doesnt want to stay with the whole 9-5 thing, i personally agree with that. Average is overrated.
We don’t blame you! 9-5 can be a lot!
She is being incredibly condescending and even racist.
She should be happy. I job hop a lot myself. Not my fault, too many local companies don’t have good culture and you won’t see that element until you start working around them.
She's not unhappy, it's just something that caused some stress within their relationship because of changing jobs so often can affect your whole family. But Jeena is proud of Drue and supports him fully!
Love this! 1:20
dude...being an RN already shows that he has the smarts, endurance and ambition to do well whatever he does. he'll be fine!! let him be!
She knows that! But it doesn't discount the fact that it has put some stress on their family.
Sucks to be racist
I mean it sounds like he’s willing to do whatever it takes to provide for his family while still trying to find his niche. I don’t see anything wrong with that
Which is why Jeena supports him fully and though it may cause some stress for their family, she's proud of Drue😊
Good for you
My husband is the same way. I honestly think it’s the secret to getting a good job. Anyone can do it but certain personalities don’t need to think about it.
Some people are really just built different, but you’re right anyone can have that mindset!
No...😮 highly appropriate.
You need to listen to your wife for the glow up to happen.
Understandable
Drew needs to realize his value and gtfo from the dreamkiller victim
Throwing scalpels?!? Witnesses + police report + lawsuit = private island... 😉
Those OR rooms get intense😳
I literally worked for a company that required you to hire over 50% minorities and people who graduated from HBCU’s went to the top of the hiring pile. Please shut up.
That's one experience you had from one company... there's millions of companies in the U.S. Please do your research.
Hey, Jenna and Drue. I truly enjoyed this episode. Very informative. Drue, you can totally be a consultant in that area. Jenna, you look so beautiful ❤
Thank you so much for watching ❤️
My daughter’s fiancé has changed careers probably 25 times in the last 2 years. She doesn’t know if she’s ready to marry him because she doesn’t have the security of him working. She bought her first house last year with her brother. So she doesn’t want anyone bringing her back. My ex is always changing careers as well. He never stayed with one career. Sometimes you have to change careers to find the right fit. Or start your own business.
Sometimes changing careers is necessary to find what you're interested in, but it's still important to communicate with your partners/family because they end up being involved too.
My husband changing jobs so often would make me as a wife feel unsafe because I grew with food insecurity & lack of many other basic needs. Jeena is a trooper & an amazing woman for standing by her husband side and supporting his journey!
The uncertainty is always hard, but it's important to communicate with your partner and validate their concerns when you want to change careers. That kind of decision impacts them, too.
Not everyone woke up knowing "I'm going to be a vet" and that's what they did. Most people don't know what they're going to do in 5 years
What is she even talking about bro?😂
Yass! I've had 3 children, 3 cesareans. I was pregnant at 40. I see you! It takes so much out of you. Sending love ❤.
Yes! It impacts your body for so long too!
😄
