The Taught-line hitch is tied wrong. The last wrap of the running end should have followed the same direction as the first two wraps (Over not Under the standing part)

Welcome to Scouting America, make sure you know who your Patrol Leader & Senior Patrol Leader are. These are going to be the people you go to for any questions. Carry your Scoutbook to every meeting & campout (get a cover for it) and take care of the book. If you bridged over from Cub Scouts you should already know a lot of the requirements in the Scout Rank. Up to First Class Rank you can work on any requirements listed in any of these ranks. I would immediately start the 30 day physical fitness in Tebderfoot. After that do the next 30 day physical requirement from. Second Class. You can NOT combine them! Good luck enjoy your Scouting journey and READ the book, a TON of good life skill information! Again welcome to Scouting & don’t forget to have FUN! 👍🏻 Thanks for asking the question!

Thanks for your comment & taking the time to watch. This is why it’s important to take Merit Badges at summer/winter camp that are Eagle required… BUT to prevent partials the Scout should take the initiative to find out which requirements WON’T be covered during camp. Yes… there are 3 Eagle required merit badges take a minimum of 90 days. Also, finding Merit Badge Universities will help… but a lot of Scouts do take the full 7-8 years to complete. There is nothing wrong with that. The goal for the Scouts are to earn Eagle, but as far as the adults we should do our best to help them become good citizens & hopefully learn some life skills along the way. Thanks again for your comment.

My wife and I joined Scouting as leaders in 1985 when our son joined a new program called Tiger Cubs. She went on to work at our local council office, while I retired in 2020. I served in all levels of adult leadership with Pack, Troop, Team, Crew, and as a district and council adult leader/trainer. I saw a large number of scouts who had completed the Eagle requirements by age 13. The largest numbers were members of a church no longer associated in scouting. During my time, I also served for about 15 years in adult district and council roles. Including Eagle Scout boards of reviews. As a Scoutmaster, I endorsed, referred or reviewed many young men for their boards. I also, by a scout's completion of all requirements, referred, but did not favorably or negatively endorse a few scouts. It always made for interesting boards of review. Board members from my own troop would always question my curious position. As THE troop Scoutmaster, I was required to acknowledge and verify all of the scout's completed requirements, however if I felt the scout needed more time in an actual leadership role, not simply one on paper. OR I felt that their maturity level wasn't ready, I declined to comment further. Seasoned board members came to understand me, and my position, while parents from my troop may not have. Curiously in one family that happened twice with two brothers. One thought I was being unfair and hard on him, and he transferred to another unit, where he received his Eagle. His brother chose to remain, and after he showed he was an Eagle, not only on paper, but in spirit, leadership and maturity, he joined almost 200 fellow scouts on our Eagle's Nest board. A testament of scouts from 1927, until my retirement in 2018. Several more of my scouts achieved their Eagle after I turned over leadership of the troop. Sadly, the troop was allowed to fold just short of its 95th year of continuous charter to its Charter Partner. Alumni of the troop and the Nest included many successful leaders of our community. And heroes who served in our military in every war and conflict from the past into recent times. I was a dinosaur Scoutmaster, whose time had come. While there have been many changes to the program over the years, including the massive restructuring that occurred after I retired, I will say that I believed as a Scouter then, and to this day, that having a co-ed program was way overdue. I am happy to see that scouting is available to all who wish to join, and achieve its highest rank, hopefully becoming the leader's our republic need today and in our future.

Yes… you can do it! Work backwards from your 18th birthday. The video is a recommendation. Concentrate on getting to First Class by May of 2025 or sooner. Get a copy of the pdf that is in the description of this video. A lot of requirements you can double up on! Meaning you don’t have to do them twice for different Ranks. BUT, you need to carry your Scout Book with you everywhere! Make sure you know who can sign off on your book. (Usually more than 1 person)A lot of requirements are “discussion” you’re just talking through the requirement with someone who can sign off on your book. Read the requirement -then there is a page number that has the answers in the book. Read over that & be ready to answer the requirement with the signer of your Scout Book. Most Scouts forget their book at meetings & campouts, requirements are done & they forget to get the requirements signed off… getting behind. After you make it to First Class… it’s 6 months for Star, then 6 months for Life(with an Eagle Project). It just gets tough once you’re in High School, because other activities get in the way, sports, drama, Orchestra, Band … Good Luck! You can still make it!

You want to REACH EAGLE SCOUT, not "want to be Eagle". By the time you reach the level of Eagle Scout, you have mastered leading groups of 10 (patrol leader), then multiple patrols (senior patrol leader), and periodically the entire troop (Junior Assistant Scout Master (JASM)). Many work organizations enjoy those leadership skills.

Scouting has lost its moral compass, I hope they go bankrupt for going woke! The people who donated vast amounts of money and land would be appalled at what it's turned into. Trail Life is carrying on the old scouting tradition of shaping boys into morally straight and mentally awake young men, and the same thing with young girls into young women who are patriotic leaders. Scouting America has decayed to where I will not have my son be a part of it. It's tragic that something that was such a large part of my youth and shaping me in leadership, go the way it has.

I'm 3 merit badges away from earning them all so I understand the amount of work and dedication this took. I know this has been a difficult but rewarding journey for you, so congratulations on your incredible achievement.

Congratulations! Keep going, hopefully you have a lot more time than Cooper did! He really cut it close, but definitely accomplished an amazing feat! Googling the number of Scouts who have completed this, it’s is only 474 Scouts… out of 130 million! That’s amazing! AND SO ARE YOU! Keep going, you can do it!

It will be 51 years this May 21st that I made Eagle. I went from Bobcat to Eagle. I have both badges in a frame in my office (art studio). Also I have the newspaper clipping of that award night on the wall next to my badges. My friend,(also awarded Eagle Scout that night) Scoutmaster, and I are in the picture. In closing I'm a Life Member of N.E.S.A. The trail to Eagle was fun, and with a lot of memories. also, that badge got me my job with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft ( I'm now retired from).

Thanks so much for sharing. I love hearing stories how Scouting helped moved them towards their career path. My son made lifelong friends too. It’s also cool to see the strong brotherhood continue. He has a few Eagle Scouts at his work. That bond is very strong! Thanks again for watching & commenting-Congratulations on your Eagle!

Thanks for your comment, please share. My son too earned his Eagle, felt it wasn’t helping to put it on his resume & 5 years after working at one company ended up with a much better company at a much higher salary, because he had that Eagle Scout on his Resume. The employer even commented that they try to hire Eagle Scouts when they can.

Thanks for watching and commenting. You’re right on track, now’s the time to put effort into earning your Merit Badges, you still have 4 years. Don’t get discouraged, go to long term camps (summer or winter) where you can get 5 Merit badges at a time… sign up for at least 2 to 3 Eagle required at camp. Ask your Scoutmaster & SPL for advice, they’ll be excited that you’re showing interest in advancing. Watch the video that talks about “How Long does it take to go from Scout to Eagle.” You’ll get there… also check out local merit badge universities. These are one day merit badge camps that get you started or some MB’s you can complete in one day. DON’T forget to have fun!

It wouldn't have more integrated handbook be better? Kind of seems to me that they're "separate but equal" why segregate the handbook instead of having photos of boys and girls interacting together in the same book?

You make a valid point. If you think about it, they probably didn’t have many “natural” coed pictures to work with, since girls started in Boy Scouts in February of 2019. Now that girls have been involved in Boy Scouts for 5 years, maybe we’ll see a new edition coming out as one book with both boys & girls co-mingling. It will be interesting to watch and see how long that takes. Thanks for watching & commenting, please share the channel.

Congratulations! It’s a HUGE accomplishments! If you use the percentage the BSA has used over the years… either 4 or 6%. That is only 4 or 6 Scouts out of 100 that actually earn the rank of Eagle. PLUS you’re so confident & self reliant at such a young age! Again, congratulations!!!

Helps to wear dress socks underneath your main sock to prevent blisters, this can be done in the winter or summer if hiking longer distances. That being said you have the best scouting videos! Excellent job

Thanks for the tip, I remember doing that as a kid, wearing nylon socks then the cotton socks over those. A lot cheaper than these wicking socks today! Thanks so much for the compliment and taking the time to watch! Please share any videos that might help a fellow Scout!😉
