  • This camp gadget will help keep your tent clean. This is a very easy Scout gadget to make with two pieces of wood and some rope. You'll be using the square lashing, which is also requirement 3d for the First Class Rank. Each Scout and adult can use this cool gadget outside their tent. It's a dirty shoe hanger. If you can keep your dirty shoes out of your tent, that's a great start to keeping your tent clean.
The equipment needed is one landscape stake 1X2X24 inches, one crossbar at least 8 inches long, rope for the square lashing, plus a saw to cut the crossbar.
Tripod lashing - handwashing station for patrols.

Yes - definitely easy, and you can even label the gadget with the Scouts name or position - "SPL," so the Scouts know which tent is the "SPL's." You could go one step further and label all the gadgets so everyone knows which tent the Scouts are in. Especially if the Troop has identical tents. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.

First, let me say how much I appreciate your taking the time to make these videos. But this one leaves me a trifle confused. Surely a camp gadget should be made out of the materials and tools at hand while actually camping? I admit it's not strictly spelled out in the requirements so if a scout brought it to me I'd definitely sign him off, but I might just challenge him/her to build something with out a vise and combination square.. Just eyeball it. I should also admit that I probably look at this differently than most, I've been making a living as a woodworker for years, as well as being an Eagle, Vigil, Eagle dad, and bushcrafter. Again, thanks for all you do. " It's only an hour a week!"

Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, I'm hoping folks get the concept of the project, using anything to lash together and keep their dirty shoes out of the tent.
