I mix 40:1 for the reasons you state in this video. I switched to Honda HP2 oil as a result of your testing and opened up my third pint last week. I like it. Thank you very much!
Another great video Richard, always so nice to have you share your knowledge and insight. I realize that producing these videos takes a lot of time and effort, greatly appreciated. Thank you! I honestly can't understand why you haven't broken the 100,000 subscriber threshold yet. Your channel is an undiscovered gem!
I’ve Replaced A Few Of Those Boots on The 661’s The AV Mounts Get Worn and The Tank/Carb And The Crankcase Pull Apart And Rip The Boot Especially If The Saw Gets Stuck in a Cut and The Owner Pulls Hard on The Handle To Get The Saw Out 😬😬😬
I know I am fortunate to buy Schaeffer‘s in this area retail for 30 cents per ounce. I use the boat oil 32:1 with 91 E-free. That cylinder cleaned up great! I guess that‘s one downside to using a different piston once something happens down the road and you‘re SOL. Great job!👍
For the average operator under most circumstances, i know m-tronic and autotune are a godsend. But their ability to mask leaks so well is one downside IMO. Glad the cylinder cleaned up beautifully!
I've gone back to using a 32:1 mix with Stihl two-stroke oil. It just doesn't make any sense to run these engines so close to the limit with 50:1 and barely adequate lubrication. I suppose if you're rich you can afford to burn up saws but my saws are keepers.
hello richard Another very interesting video thank you I wanted to ask you for a husqvarna 550 xp I do not find in france amsoil saber that you recommend as well as the red armor but echo power blind yes semi-synthetic that does not carbon oil husqvarna jaso FD the piston side escape is horrible black not so clean that it oil xp + with gasoline pump by aspen it is great even with a dirty oil , but it costs expensive to use so I panache can be trusted to echo power blind semi synthesis oil for the 550 xp? Thank you in advance for future response
Thanks Jason, I appreciate the offer. Port work was originally done with a factory piston. I never got around to the additional mods after the Wiseco was installed.
Yeh, good to add a limiter to the spring travel so guys don’t rip boots when they reef on the saw when it gets pinched. Would you run just the top ring? Lots of guys do that…
Great video Richard! You are full of excellent information! 😊

Never understood why they made that intake boot so stiff on 661 they always seem to ter down around that clamp
Another good video Richard
Thanks you!

Like I said UA-cam is tough. Slow and steady
If I lived in the US I would definitely bring my saws to you you always do a great job.
Rich good maintenance tips 😊😊😊
Great experience with these engimes ❤❤❤
Thanks for the vids Richard I love your level of detail

Great stuff, thanks for the video, glad you could save the cylinder.
Red armour works great. Hate to see that happen. Glad some things were salvageable.

This cylinder cleaned up really well AP!

You gotta treat the new av bushings gentle, they making em light and comfortable as possible.
Is that torn intake boot issue more prevalent on the 661 than other saws or is the issue common in all larger saws subjected to heavy use?
👍👍👍
Please show you do your flush. Thanks
Crazy that she'd even run with the big a tear in the boot. Score 1 for m-tronic and 0 for the piston. 😉😉
Hey Richard, can you try out some Aspen 2?

Yes. 25ml per liter. Echo Power blend should do a very good job.
Hello Richard thank you very much for the answer
I’ve got a weisco 661 piston if you want/need it
Thanks Jason, I appreciate the offer. Port work was originally done with a factory piston. I never got around to the additional mods after the Wiseco was installed.
Is that CT3’s 400 you workin on?
Yup
32:1 is how I mix
So all I know is shit happens! What I also know is it will be right before it leaves your shop!
I do 45:1, hope you restore it to old glory.

If I had to, yes. There's enough of the cylinder wall there to run both.
I mix 50:1
