As you've stated, games are taking much longer to make but that shouldn't be the case. Movies are still being made in the same timeframe, perhaps even quicker, than they were in the past. Technologies have gotten better: CGI, cosmetics, makeup and other amenities that aid the production of a movies has become more accessible and refined throughout the years. Avengers: Endgame only spent 5 months in shooting and was released 15 months later. On average though it takes about maybe 1-2.5 years for a high production movies to be created from beginning to end. In terms of gaming, GTA 4 took about 3.5 years to make whereas GTA 5 took just 3 years. Why is it just now that the production time has suddenly skyrocketed only within this generation? In my personal opinion, it has absolutely nothing to do with the advancement of technology since that has become easier to access for everybody. Literally, anybody with a modern smartphone can make 3D photogrammetry art without having to spend a single dime or days or weeks creating it from scratch as it would have taken in the past. The problems the industry faces has everything to do with the decision-makers at the top of the business hierarchy that have made things difficult for everybody involved in the development of these games. The games cost more to make? Then why not add in more manpower to the production? They're simply looking for ways to save money while still paying low wages to their employees. It's why the quality of gaming has gone down tremendously in AAAs, why we no longer see innovation and why they're taking so much longer to make.

I remember myself being so indignant cause Elden Ring defeated GOW Ragnarok and for that sole reason I bought Elden Ring to see why a game I considered a clunky and outdated looking combat that I saw in some Vídeos had something to make it earned that title. Then, after a few minutes of playing it, I was like: I knew it!!! It was just a hype and this never can be compared to God of War!!!! Then, after an hour and a half of playing it, everything changed!!! I was hating it still and I felt lost in a huge open world without a map and facing powerful enemies every 15 steps and falling into a trap with foes that were overpowered compared to my character and I was like this is trash!!! But the next day, I sat without any haste of waiting what made it GOTY and just played it as a normal game I spent my money on it and everything changed!!! After being familiarized with mechanics and combat, immediately I saw why it defeated GOWR. ER was just so superior on the engagement and fun experience of an amazing and thrilling huge world, full of surprises and challenges; amazing weapons and spells, beautiful landscapes and a freaking addictive combat. All the different ways to approach enemies and learning secrets of items at disposal and the special abilities of every weapon was just something else… The mount combat was just too good and even to this day I still discovering how to use some mechanics and loving the secrets and dungeons again!!! After almost a year of beating the game, I started my second play through a few days ago and I’m in love again as it was my first time and even more!!! This game definitely was made with a love of live and dedication. God of War was epic and engaging and has an amazing combat system and story, but Elden Ring is something else!!! Two games that I freaking love the most are first, The Witcher 3, which to me is the best game ever made and a close second, Elden Ring, Lords of the Fallen and Lies of P and Hogwarts Legacy… Obviously Elden Ring as an open world is the second best after The Witcher… But, to keep the line, Elden Ring is a must buy game and one of the most freaking amazing adventures that any player should experienced at least once in their lifetime. You love New Vegas and you love space settings? The Outer Worlds should be your next game to play, its basically New Vegas creators making New Vegas in space.

The dialog system are very similar. The point is what was done with the dialog system, not the system itself. A travesty in Starfield. Legendary in New Vegas.

I haven't played Starfield yet but I strongly disagree with you about the loading screens. I primarily only enjoy Bethesda games for immersion and a space game where you can't even land your ship would be a deal breaker for me. I don't like fast travel in general in most modern games other than in very small doses. Clicking on a box is not a game or not an immersive game for me.

The big problem today isn't the time it takes to make a game. Companies still make lots of games. The problem is that they're 1) remaking old games, which sounds cool on paper but is a drag in real life. A remade game is a rehashed game. Like you said in the video, people want innovation. And 2) the bigger problem is that games today are about making nearly addicted to one game. Endless DLC, seasonal updates, it never ends. It used to be that you played a game like Silent Hill 2 or Bioshock, enjoyed it, and wanted to play a different game to recreate that same feeling of enjoyment. That's what creates a healthy industry. That's gone now. When companies compete to monopolize users, the industry cannibalizes itself and crumbles. When every game has thousands of hours of content, there is no sense of end, no interest in other stories, no desire to go play another fun game. When you finish a great book, even a long book, you want to go find another great book. But if that book kept going, never ended, there's no desire to read another book. That endless book is there to consume your attention. Any industry where products are designed to consume the attention of its users and tie them to a single product is doomed to fail.

I can tell you are too young to remember the golden era of gaming. That era ended around 2008. There was some bleed over of good games until 2012, but after that it's been all down hill. It isn't that innovation isn't there, it's that quality isn't there.
