Sous vide tri tip is a favorite amongst sous vide enthusiasts. Today we sous vide a pre-marinated tri tip from Costco. I provide a simple traditional rub recipe in case you're not using a pre-marinated tri tip!
Tri tip is a fantastic cut of beef and cooking it sous vide is the perfect method. It tenderizes the working muscles in tri tip and prevents overcooking a nice thick cut of beef. Precision cooking at its best!

The hollandaise looks a little thin to me. Could it be sous vide a little longer or perhaps a higher temperature? If it’s set for five minutes, would it get thicker then?

Just found this channel tonight, very well done and super informative
I have the 100w and it does what I want it to. I didn't really choose between the 100 and the 200, I just picked a cheap controller. I use a lot of inkbird pid controllers though so I know they understand pid controlling.
It needs the cover off because it will have trouble cooling the water at the end of the cook as turbo mode uses a higher water temp to bring food up to the desired temp faster.
2 it is 2.0 is $65
How about useing celsius and kilogram so someone not liveing in US can understand the measurements

Great video on sous vide, especially for me since I am a novice to sous vide cooking. I have just cooked some sous vide burgers for future use. I put most in the freezer and kept one in the fridge for lunch. I am not sure about the correct temperature and time for reheating the chilled one (or the frozen ones for that matter) prior to finishing off on the griddle, can you please give me any advice on this, they were all cooked at 54 degrees C, 130 F Thank you.
For the one in the fridge, depending on how thick your burgers ended up, you may not need to bother with the sous vide again at all and can just use the griddle to get warm enough. For the frozen, and refrigerated burger if you like, the general rule is to go no hotter than your original sous vide temp. An hour on the frozen should be just fine, but it really depends on how thick they are. Everything is fully cooked so it’s just getting to a mouthfeel that is good for you. I hope that helps.

I all ways bring my water up to temp before I add my food just to be on the safe side, bacteria grows in food when it take that long to bring the water up to temp with food in the oven, I learn that in a food safety class.
You 3 hours from 40f to 140f before there is any concern. And it will reach the temp were pasteurization begins years before you run out of time. Especially with turbo mode which actually uses higher water temp at the beginning of the cook to speed the process before bringing water temp down to the desired food temp.

I usually do
Tap water over 125 is dangerous. Lower it.
Dangerous for what? I didn’t drop food in at 125.
@@topsousvide Dangerous for personal use as if a small child were to turn on tap water or a bath/shower at full hot. Not cooking.

Can you get vacmaster or avid armor bags?
I thought about getting a see thru heavy duty storage tote at Lowe's but i decided I didn't want to risk it. I use a huge aluminum stockpot currently

I watched this video to look for a different way to cook a tri-tip. Not impressed with the sous vide version. The outside is does not have a crisp. I normally cook by searing in cast iron on stove then cooking in oven. Comes out perfect every time. I have a Ninja Foodi 11-N-1 and it has the SV option. I'm not sure this is better than what I"ve been doing.

It took entirely too long to cook that little piece of meat. Too much prep work and time that could’ve been done in a crockpot in less than a day.
Results are very different, but I get the appeal of using a crockpot.

Pros just go manual only thing you set is sealing duration
I'm looking to replace my old machine that I've had for maybe 20 years. It seals a bag in maybe 4 or 5 seconds. We use it to vacuum seal salmon often a few dozen. Waiting almost half a minute for each bag to seal is a deal breaker for me. Looks like a good unit otherwise but I'll continue looking....
what brand/model do you have that seals quicker?

I’m considering getting the 200w for my brother for Christmas. I have the Anova 3.0 (after watching your reviews) but I’m beyond annoyed the app is a subscription. How does the Inkbird app compared to Anova? Anova won’t even send you a notice when the cook is done. Truly unbelievable. The app should be an added value not a subscription. Thanks. Love the channel.
Yeah, that new subscription model for the app is a real bummer for new customers. INKBIRD app pales in comparison when it comes to recipes, etc. but if you know the time and temp you want, it certainly does the job.

The monthly sub just to use the app makes anova sous vide from S grade to C grade. They even shut down the 2.0 customers from accessing their app. Not a company you want to support

What do you sous vide at 32F°, ice cream? Maybe I’m getting my conversions to C° wrong.
Most useful thing at those lower temps is to be able to defrost quickly in prep for non sous vide cooking.

I know I am late to the game on this video but major thumbs up on production values. Sound is on point and at a good level with minimal background and sounding professional. The dual camera angles is genius and would actually keep me coming back for more video as I know I would have a good view. You were thorough without being verbose in your scripting.
