Приєднався 17 жов 2017
My name is Gaven and I’m a major mountain bike enthusiast! I’ve completely fallen in love with riding, and as many of you have probably experienced, I’m still battling with the cost of high end bikes. One of my favorite things to do is take a bike with great potential, but mediocre equipment, and make that ride shine! Follow me in my adventures while I make upgrades, changes, and personal touches to my ever growing fleet of bikes.
On this channel, you can expect:
•Reviews of bikes and biking gear
•Riding videos
•Workshop videos
•Bike upgrades
•Tools and bike repair
•Goofy senseless humor
All of which will likely be low cost :)

Listening to Music While Riding Your Bike
Music helps to push you to your limits while riding, and can add a dramatic aspect to a scenic ride. Unfortunately, riding with earbuds can be dangerous since one of your primary senses is blocked. In this video I'll show you a pair of headphones, the Aftershokz Trekz titanium, that might solve the problem of lost hearing when listening to music while on your bike.
In addition to the headphones, I've created two Spotify playlists to share with you. These are playlists that I listen to when I want to get pumped up to ride, or when I'm on a scenic trek.

Homemade Mudguard
Переглядів 15 тис.7 років тому
Here's a tutorial on making a professional looking mudguard for dirt cheap. In my case, I was able to make two for about 25 cents. Mudguards are amazing at not only keeping mud and dirt out of your face, but also for protecting your headset and fork. They stop the water, dirt, mud, snow, and gravel flinging off of your tire from hitting the frame, and give the bike a cool look. I have 5 bikes t...
Mongoose Hitch Snow Ride
Переглядів 6 тис.7 років тому
I've shown you the Mongoose Hitch on the trails in the summer, and fall, but how did it do in the winter snow? This video outlines the upgrades previously made to the bike, and how they performed out on a snow and ice covered groomed singletrack. This bike continues to impress me, and keep a smile on my face while I ride. I had a lot of fun out in the snow on a nice warm Michigan day. Riverbend...
SR Suntour Fork Travel
Переглядів 104 тис.7 років тому
SR Suntour air forks commonly come in multiple different travel variations. For this reason, they're also adjustable to different lengths. The process is fairly easy, however not well documented on the internet, so I wanted to share with you how the process goes. These adjustments will work for the Epixon, Epicon, and Raidon, but should be very similar for SR Suntours other air fork offerings. ...
SR Suntour Epixon Air Fork
Переглядів 98 тис.7 років тому
Air forks have really taken over the mountain biking world. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find the right one. This is especially true if you have a straight 1 1/8 headtube with more modern wheels (27.5 inch / 29 inch). There are a handful on the market, and they're all fairly decent. I went for the Suntour Epixon after tons of research due to the fact that it's fairly lightweight, accom...
Indoor Bike Trainer
Переглядів 75 тис.7 років тому
Riding in the winter can sometimes be difficult, or downright impossible. I got a $75 trainer to use on days I can't ride outdoors. Here's a quick look at the trainer, setup, and my initial thoughts about using the trainer. I also cover replacement of a quick release skewer, and discuss tires for use on the trainer. I want to say thanks to Daily MTB Rider for letting me use some of his riding f...
How to Service Mongoose Fat Bike Headset (improved audio)
Переглядів 3,7 тис.7 років тому
For the second installment of the Mongoose Mini Series, I'll be demonstrating removal of the headset. Almost all of the Mongoose fat bikes will have this same headset, and they tend to come over-tightened and with minimal grease. This can lead to serious issues down the road because of wear to the bearings and pressed in cups. When you first get the bike, I strongly recommend removal and greasi...
How to Service Mongoose Fat Bike Hubs (improved audio)
Переглядів 21 тис.7 років тому
In our third installment of the Mongoose Mini Series, I'll be demonstrating removal, cleaning, and re-greasing the hubs. Just like all of the other bearings on this bike, the hubs tend to come with too little grease and over-tightened. If this process is not followed, it is likely that the hub(s) will experience issues early on. When you first get the bike, I strongly recommend removal and grea...
Gear for New Riders

Here are six products that new mountain bikers should consider getting. They'll help you to keep your bike, and yourself rolling! As a new mountain biker, it can be difficult to know what is important. Not only do you need a bike to be a mountain biker, but you also need some additional products, gear, and accessories to keep yourself safe and keep your bike running well. This is a quick list o...
GoPro Mounts
Переглядів 3337 років тому
GoPro accessories are ridiculously expensive, and for a UA-camr making action content, multiple mounts are a necessity! Since I use one GoPro session for all of my video footage, I need versatility. To get the branded equipment wasn't an option due to cost, so I decided to go for quantity over quality with a $13 mount kit. Only thing is... these are actually decent mounts! I'm really impressed ...

Maintain your riding fitness over the winter with three easy steps! ;) 1. Keep your eyes on the prize 2. Hammer like there's no tomorrow 3. Don't forget to hydrate! Just a bit of humor to keep you going over the winter when snow prevents from a good ride! If you liked the video, you may like some of my others. Fat Bike Tire Test
Переглядів 6 тис.7 років тому
Fat bikes and snow go hand in hand. I recently installed these Maxxis Mammoth tires, and have patiently waited for snow to drop. We got a giant downpour of snow over the past few days, so I took this as a chance to test them out. I purchased these tires with the intention of having lighter tires than the stock tires on my Mongoose Hitch. I also wanted tires that would perform well on singletrac...
How to Shorten Hydraulic Brake Hoses
Переглядів 13 тис.7 років тому
Some hydraulic brake upgrade kits will come pre-assembled and filled with fluid. This can help make installation a breeze, but in some cases, the brake hoses will need to be cut down to size. I can typically get away with cutting them without the need for bleeding. If you find that your brake lever does not firm up, or you lose mineral oil from the system during this process, the brakes will ne...
New Bike Day: DiamondBack Mission
Переглядів 10 тис.7 років тому
I didn't have any luck finding a full suspension bike on Black Friday. I did, however, on Cyber Monday!!! Meet my newest ride, the DiamondBack Mission. This bike caught my attention long ago, but I've never seen it for a price that I was willing to pay. Since the MSRP is slightly higher than the blue book value of my motorcycle, I had to wait until the price came down to an acceptable level. I'...
Island Lake Fatbike Ride
Переглядів 2,2 тис.7 років тому
Global fat bike day happens once a year on December 2nd. Groups of fat bikers all around the world setup massive rides in awesome locations. This was my first year celebrating the event, and this was my first group ride to exceed 10 people... and by A LOT!!! We met up and rode at Island Lake in Brighton Michigan, and got out on the "badlands" which are unlike most trails in South Eastern Michig...

How to Upgrade Mongoose Fat Bike Shifter
Thanks Bro! great share. Keep up the good work
I love titos martini
Hi there! So a buddy of mine owns a bike with an SR Suntour and for some reason the rebound adjuster is not working as intented, the fork rebounds too fast and makes this clanking sound even after servicing, the fork is maxed out at 140mm of travel and for some reason it looks like the travel has increased by a few milimetres, we suspect the travel limiter pin gave out so we're scouring as to where we can find a replacement, if you guys have any suggestions as to where we can find one it would be extremely helpful!
When hearing approaching danger matters, it can be useful to listen in mono. Eliminating the spacial aspect of music allows you to differentiate between your music and other sounds, and also helps keep your acoustic directional sense more acute.
I noticed on the drive side of my rear hub there doesn’t appear to be anywhere to seat the bearings, is my hub done for or do they just stay on the walls of the hub somehow? Great video btw thank you
Yeah, I just got one waiting to see how long it takes to break something. Pre grease job sounds like a good idea. Thanks
Yes, the bearing are questionable because of the way they are facing. I noticed that because, according they diagram that I was looking at the bearing where facing the other way around. I'm not an expert. I was just going of the picture diagram for installing my bearing in my tapered headset. Now I have to do some more research. Thanks for sharing the video. God-bless.
I thought that too.
I literally learnt how to fix my derailleur and switch my gf now tbeir both running great thanks a bunch bud 👍🏽 😊
Thank You 🙏
Just checked my 3 month old Mongoose fat tire bike, bone dry & rust had started. Replaced 1 bearing and repacked. Thank you for that info! 👍👍👍
Thank you already fix my forks
what a mess...
Just bought one to replace a crappy XCM coil fork.
Can you Please update your links? I would love to add all of them.
Bought an abused It will need a lot of TLC. Handlebars, shifter, grips, seat and hydraulic brakes are all on order. Probably grease the bearings and have the tires trued while I'm at it. Kick stand? Who's? you tell me.
I’ve been looking for a video like this. I’m new to working on bikes and this video was great!!
Very cool .Subbed and liked.
This is such a helpful video. Thank you.
Epixon is great

Great detail and the step-by-step process really helps!
Friend of mine had the Dolomite. Truly horrible in stock form. Close to 70 pounds!!!
Just bought mongoose trx aluminum fat bike for 250 n loved it 35 lb weight
Excellent video my friend...clear step by step instructions. You helped me a ton Happy New Year!
Did you upgrade your freewheel and chainring?
Did you rode that epixon?
Did the crank sprocket upgrade make hills manageable?
Ok
Nice, one of the better explained air suspension videos
Thanks for sharing man. I know this is an old video, but.... I was looking around for a decent and yet reliable fork for upgrading my 26" Giant XCT1. I have found that it's a good bike and I'm looking forward to rebuild it and take it to the trails. I'm a more roadie kind of guy, but in the moths of late October till December, most of the us goes to the trails, due the rainy season and most of the time because the Nationals are held late September / early October. MTB is something keeps going till end of the year ( Where I live, which is in the Caribbean). I'm looking to rebuild my Giant into a muller 27.5 front and 26 in the back. What do you recommend me ? Thanks in advance.
Please, if you don’t mind, make a video how to replace the brake pad on the front tire. Because by mistake, I put WD-40 on the front breaking pad and right now it doesn’t work very well and I bought brake cleaner. I sprayed it on it it’s better but still not working properly.
Wow, I can’t believe it was that easy fix. Thank you for sharing this video It helped me a lot with my bikes. I was really frustrating.
Thanks for the video, can you tell me please, out of curiosity, is your upper headset cover sitting flush with the upper bearing cup, I have changed the bearing cups and the bearings on my GIANT Fathom 29er and there is a 1.5 mm gap between the FSA top cover and the upper bearing cup, I might’ve not realised it at the beginning by not noticing it, and is killing me. Thank you in advance. Regards, Florin
I have a not-so-gently used Mongoose Dolomite (gift from my wife who knew I wanted a "starter fat bike" to try in the snow, since I get tired of Zwift for road-bike winter withdrawal). It managed the local bike trails snow, but the shifter only worked well one direction! Syl-glide on the gearshift and exposed cabling didn't help much, so I was pleased to find your video on this upgrade. I used an M315 and didn't even have adjust the limiters or barrel after swapping over! It shifts so much better now - wish I had done it last year! (I'm sure you've seen the complaints about low audio levels in this video - they're low, but everything is audible if you turn it up enough!)
I recently purchased a Mongoose Malus. 26" Fat Tire. It said put a couple drops of oil here, and some there. Not exactly clear unless you know all the terms they use. I am a complete newb. I wanted to find a video how to oil but I see you are far deeper into than I care to try, not knowledge enough for that. And if I didn't get it back together right? Isn't there some simple oil spots a non-mechanic can do to help the life. Like the chiain or some such? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I need for you to close up camera while you record the tared down an rebuilt of the rear axle please
I tried fixing it but it worked for a little while but it did it again locking up on me, can you please show me step by step show more pictures of wat I need to do, an proper tools I should use.please
Ok my dolomite rear axle it just stopped working it locked up on me, and it started spitting out the bearings, wat happened??
You replace your bearing inversely. Incorrect ❌❌❌
The sounds quality is horrible. I had to put headphones on full blast and still could hardly hear
Is there a specific site for mongoose parts?
What happens if I invert the springs that it brings, that is, if I put the thick one at the bottom and the thin one at the top? They tell me that it is more tactful
Pretty sure dolomite fucked me over cuz the set screw on my shifter just stripped three Allen wrenches back to back lol. Sick. Need a new shifter and handlebars I guess :)))
good show, learned alot. thanks
Thanks for this video. Now I'll go and fix my headset.
Can you confirm the fork weight of 3 lbs.?? I just received my 27.5 Epixon and it weighs a whopping 4 pounds.
Great video my wife and daughter got me a Mongoose Malus and just turned 50 years of age. Am ready to get some miles in. I just put an order in for my shifter. My hand is always hitting the gear switch accidentally hitting it and I hate that because am not a little guy. When am standing up peddling with my weight pushing down getting speed up it switches when I least expected and that SUCKS !
