If you want to make some as gifts to give to your stitchy friends or just someone that might want a cute little flowerpot. Thanks for joining me.

Martha, I think your heart's turned out beautifully very nice. I think I'm going to start making hearts. And then I guess you can tell us what to do with them once we get going
@@stephaniekimbrel5301 this actually took place 2 years ago. I appreciate you watching! Just make them, then gift them to people. Strangers, nursing homes, friends, kids - I backed them and stuffed some of them. They are great little gifts because you made them. Just have fun. The videos were just for fun and to share. 😊
If you want to sew with your arms on the table you sew with your arms on the table. Nobody's going to complain about that.
I don't know if I heard all the rules. How many hearts we're supposed to do? If we just do the kind like you're doing now, maybe I'll have to put this back to the very beginning, maybe I missed something.
@@stephaniekimbrel5301 no rules. Just did it for fun!
Are you hosting the 100 day project of hearts Martha? This sounds wonderful.
@@stephaniekimbrel5301 no I’m not hosting it. The 100 day project is something artists started. I just decided to do it as a stitch project for something to do. No rules, no one to answer to. 😊. Just something to do. If you decide to do it, just have fun.
When you sew the pieces together are you sewing right along the quilting material or is the seam line sewn on top of the quilting material. Great work and thank you showing us how this is done. Well done.
@@elizabethclark4892 thank you. I’ll be honest, I can’t really remember! LOL I think on the first one I realized that including the batting made it really chunky so I tried to cut that down. I just did whatever I found worked for me. 😊
So nice to see your video, I wish for you a smooth recovery and hope you will be back to crafting and all the things you love to do in 2025. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
@@deblee1958 thank you so much Deb. Merry Christmas & happy new year to you as well.
I see a big mess in my future, I just started my first project last night of slow stitching, I have trashed my studio already( fabric every where)...........now you've added a lot more to the mix of possibilities.........I see hoarding in my future...lol........just as I'm trying to purge stuff.
@@Valkyriepedersen lol 🤣. It’s a deep hole we nosedive into! I’m constantly purging and refining my supplies and style. You’re welcome, lol. Thanks for watching. 😊
you follow the same people I do. I have done the Roxy volumes. Watched the Flure Woods videos from Sarah and Rachel. Fun fun. Christine is fun too. Love watching Ariane Zurcher. Have you watched k3n.? She is great too. Thanks for the video

Hi Martha! So good to see you! That's a bummer about your thumb pain. But I hope this surgery fixes it and you can get back to stitching and everything else you want to do. Sending you lots of healing energy. I get some thumb pain in my left hand. Hopefully it won't ever get as bad as yours did. Love the fabric you used on both sets.. I love soccer AND HP. And those mixed media canvases (what did you call them? busted canvas?) are really cool! Thanks so much for doing a video to update us on what's been happening. Take care and have a nice Thanksgiving with your hubby. 💕
@@gaila.c.602 thank you so much! 😊 Yes they are called busted canvases! Lots of videos on making them - and they’re addictive!
Hey welcome, back I did actually think of you the other day but I did recall you said you were taking a break (I think lol) so glad you got that surgery done sounds like it was well needed. Interesting listening on how it was done etc. Happy and speedy recovery

So bright and cheerful Martha. Glad you put the lace on the birdhouse. Cheers, Christine
Thanks so much!
Gouache is acrylic. The colors are brighter. I can tell the difference when i use gouache vs acrylics. I do use watercolor pencils, and have 4 different types of watercolors. Some are good but others are great and again it comes to brightness or deep colors you get. As far as how the colors spread on paper it depends if you are trying to paint on dry paper or wet on wet. In my opinion i dont think size/shape brush makes a difference but what you do with water and what effect you want to create. I am not professional or have i taken art classes. Just following people on you tube and experimenting. But also practice, practice. Im having problems painting fabric so i can embroider parts if it such as leaves or flowers.
@@elainebramson7042 thanks for the explanations. What brand are your favorite watercolor pencils? Fabric is a while different animal from paper. Try acrylics mixed with a product to make the paint thinner and meant to use on fabric. Golden is the brand I use. I am practicing every day, both sketching and watercolor painting. I still prefer the watercolor pencils over watercolors. I watch YT, Instagram and TikTok videos.

@marthamanigross I only have one set, Derwent and I love on paper but also on fabrics. I have not tried acrylics on fabric. Will try. Hello from north Georgia.
@@marthamanigross maybe I'll try gouache acrylics for brighter deeper colors.
@@elainebramson7042 there are also other products that are used for fabrics. I’ll look tomorrow or Saturday as I have a busy day helping a friend tomorrow. I know I have fabric markers, and I found something else that I’d forgotten I have. I’ll let you know what they are when I can.

Had to pop back to leave another comment, after you mentioned the surge protectors I was able to reach back into my memory and recalled something about them needing replacements especially after losing power, which happens here often. Later today I am off to pick up a few new surge protectors, we have lost power every third day since mid July and twice last week lost power when I was texted the repairs were complete in my area, I had power up until they restored it. I am working on the k3n.clothtales SAL and the Roxy's girls vol. 6, and currently stitching one of my own pieces for autumn.
@@deblee1958 wow! That’s a lot of power outages. It’s funny how we don’t think about things like replacing something like a surge protector, but id rather be safe than sorry. You have some good projects going there! Take care and thanks for watching and commenting!
