New subscriber here. Greatly enjoying your videos. My wife and I spent 3 weeks in the Algarve in Jan 2024 and we are returning Jan 2025. We spent only 1 day in Portimão but enjoyed walking at Praia da Rocha and the restaurants. I did not catch the name of the restaurant for sunset time. Would you mind sharing i? My wife loves sunsets and I would like to take her there. Thanks.

You pay for the bus in cash. There are online timetables to check out times. Buses are more expensive than the train - trains are 50% off for over 60s ( but have I’d ) but cheap compared to the UK. Try O Monte restaurant or Saboras de Ria for restaurants! My husband loves pork & clams! There’s some good live music venues in the village if you want to just relax with a drink. Some fabulous day trips using the train - try a trip to Culatra ( island) from Oldham. Private health care lots of . East Algarve is a bit cheaper than the middle/west of Algarve. Really hard to get long term rentals but if you want to stay for 3 months over the winter season you’ll find some bargains. I love Cabanas! Been visiting for 15 years 😀

A Snackbar in Portugal is like a restaurant and snackbar combined. You can get quick snacks and some options of full meals. The big difference from a normal restaurant is that they do not close in the afternoon, and they are open until late in the evening. Usually the meal prices are more affordable than normal restaurants, because the options on the menu are regular day to day local dishes.

(got my love of maps from my dad…every summer we’d travel across USA to Massachusetts and I was in charge of the maps!)… Are you finding life and luxuries more expensive in United States??How’s the language barrier (if any at all?) I would say things overall are much more expensive in the states. Just the cost of the Airbnb in the states would have easily been 3x the amount we paid. It will be interesting to compare when we are back home. We have had very little problem here in Portugal with a language barrier. When we have run into a situation, we use Google Translate and it has worked wonders. Thanks for following along, I can't tell you how much joy it brings me!
