Leave it alone, the 318 is bulletproof! Love the car, gorgeous! A friend bought a 1989 Fifth Avenue, Northern California car with an original 39,000 miles on the odometer, Black Cherry Metallic, matching 1/4 vinyl roof, and Cloth Interior. The car had been stored in a closed garage since 1998. He changed the steering box out with a police edition 1988 Dodge Coronet and replaced the original Road wheels with Appliance Real Wire Wheels and new Vogue White Wall Tires. The car is a showpiece, beautifully taken care of by its' original owner, devoid of any scratches, dings, or dents. A one-in-a-lifetime find. His father owned one Identical to this except his Dad's had a Leather interior, and as a young boy, he loved that car.

I think the rear quarter area is looks to big. Jack them up, and put big tires on them, and their personalty changes. I also don't like the roof line. It's way to "tall" above the window moldings. Also, the competition had better styling that year, for the masses. Just about everyone thinks a 66 Ford Galaxie looked better, and cost the same when new.

I think the proportions on the fastback roof are too bulbous. I like them.

The first Gen Chargers are cool in their own right. The "not so good" comparison to the AMC Marlin and yes, the popularity of the '68-70 Chargers has done damage to the first generation desireability. I also think that the false impression that they're not part of the muscle car era ( 68-71) hurts the popularity.

Absolutely love the 1st Gen Chargers. Did you know those cars were originally designed and marketed as a luxury car?

My parents were car shopping when this body style was in the showroom. I begged them to get one. 😢

I always liked them. In our neighborhood in Northern OH, there were 3-4 of them.But then the 68 came out.

Think about it: That's about 500 hp. of sound energy right next to your ears. It would do more than deafen you, your brain would be vibrating in your skull, essentially like a really crude food processor.
