I wouldn't be surprised if a billion people watched his funeral on tv around the world. I remember that day. I remember not being a 'fan' of F1, i did watch here and there but definitely when Senna was in the race. You knew you were going to witness something beyond belief. He was just FAST.

Colin McRae was a man who was best friends with the reaper. Absolute legend.

i think mcrae had more balls than skill, but he still had more than enough skill to back it up.

He also flat out helicopter and killed his 7 year old son, another 7 year old kid of his sons friend (taken to helicopter without his parents permission), and one other family friend along with himself. He was manoeuvering helicopter low altitude forest area, with expired license which also not covering the that helicopter. Accident investigation concluded as pilot error.

Great video, shame you didn’t mention his second championship effort where he crashed out spectacularly while leading by taking a risk he didn’t need to take, handing the title of Richard Burns (RIP). It’s mad to remember how big rallying was back in the 90s and early 00s, it was as big as F1 if not arguably bigger. Drivers were household names and you were either a Subaru or Mitsubishi guy. The success of the Impreza and Subarus entire UK market was because of Colin McRae. Sadly his legacy for me will be forever tarnished by his death, not his own but the deaths of his friend and the two young boys. He took unnecessary risks in a helicopter (I’m not talking about his licence being expired, that’s just paperwork) and killed 4 people including himself. He obviously didn’t mean to, it was an accident, but he was taking risks he shouldn’t have when he had a duty to look after the people in his helicopter. It’s different to getting in a rally car, if you kill yourself, or even your co driver then it’s not so bad, you and the co driver get into the car knowing full well what the risks are, young kids in a helicopter don’t.

Great cars and loads after market mods you can do especially suspension, with a few suspension mods that don’t cost a lot and good is set tyres these handle great f not poss geo set up or you just need to learn to drive a rwd car
