If Saleka played it as camp as the others, the 1/3 part would have been just as good as Hartnett and Pill. The pie-eating scene was pretty fun! M knight himself, as Hartnett reports, thinks the concept is so preposterous he found the out of the box hilarious too. 😆

I had a good time, but agree it could've been better. I was excited once I heard it was pitched as an Apocalypto with Apes, but maybe only a scene or two reflected that (the humans on the run). Guess I'm in the minority on this one!

Right, the movies the writer has worked on are also mostly known for their weak stories, like the Avatar movies. Actually, the finale in the flooded area looked familiar to Way of Water, even. Ha. Definitely the weakest part of the movie was the story, agreed. I’m looking forward to where these movies go though.

Yeah, I’ll say it still tugs on the ol heartstrings but some of it was eye-rolling sappy if I remember correctly. That one Titanic shot though was extremely out of place, you gotta admit! Not good. Not bad. A “C” isn’t bad though, 75 percent. Better than rotten tomatoes 👍

Agreed, we only get glimpses of Godzilla for most of the movie. The smaller Kong as a weapon was pretty comical, but I thought he surely died after that. Got a good beating. Poor little bugger. But he just kept on going. The fights are all short lived and intercut with a bunch of the human story. It’ll be popular but largely underwhelming. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I can see your point. Even going back to the Showa Era Godzilla movies out of Japan, they get ridiculously cheesy, but that’s part of the fun. When I saw the suplex and other wrestling moves, I had to laugh, but looking back at it now, it’s probably an homage to the humanesque qualities of Godzilla in the original movies with people in suits fighting over a miniature set. Looks fun! Didn’t know about this movie. I’ll have to seek it out. That kid, Gabriel LaBelle, was really impressive in The Fabelmans

At first it gave me that impression as well, but in the end I think it was more about friendship or companionship. When they’re face to face, it’s probably when the robot is stuck at the beach and dog has to leave him. Looks like it’s getting a May 31 release date. Taking a while.

Yeah, I didn't realize it until a little into it that the characters hadn't spoken yet, but still pretty captivating. Comparing this to The Boy and the Heron is a difficult task for the academy, but gotta say, I felt a lot more by the end of this. (Prob cuz a dog was involved)

I fully, wholeheartedly disagree with this reviewer that it’s not worth seeing in theaters! I have AMC’s movie pass deal, and I randomly picked this movie to watch last night , and was completely captivated. Some might call it a bit of a slow burn, but I think that’s what I found captivating. It’s like, through the setting (Scotland, but looks kinda like rugged Greenland imo), blocking, and sound design, they somehow bottled up that feeling of understated-yet-electric alertness that happened when you’re in the woods at dusk, alone, and hear a noise. Or hell, even when you hear a noise at the edge of the yard while taking the dog out at 3am lol. This movie is, imho, a subtly riveting depiction of the more nuanced aspects of the primal survival drive that threads through all of humanoid-kind, from way back then through modern day.

If I absolutely had to compare it to something, in pacing and tone, I MIGHT say Upstream Color. But overall, it’s a very unique and refreshing film, imo.
