❤❤❤❤Good job nice filming🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Why don’t you (the State) use those massive snow blowers they have at airports? Seems like it would save a massive amount of time in some areas. I would think a combination of solutions would be effective.
@@jasonmalone155 well here’s the reason this is a small township owned grader the grader is the only pice of equipment the township has so I was doing what I could with the equipment I had I don’t disagree with a big snow blower would have been awesome if we had one I’m lucky we have local farmers who have pay loaders and tractors with snowblower’s and we will hire them to get the road open thanks for watching.
@ great answer! Thanks for the reply. I think the township should ask for a grant from the state or feds in the name of public safety:)
'Great video. Could you talk about doing this work only on a narrower scale? Most of my gravel roads are from 15 to 18' wide. thanks for your time and imput.
@@randymeyer9820 thanks glad you enjoyed the video and as far as a narrower road they are more challenging to maintain I’d hope you are only using a 14ft moldboard I’d run the moldboard as tight as you can to your tires also use articulation to have more of an angle on the board I’d recommend blading the same way I do just at the narrower road widths you won’t be moving it over as far try and establish your centerline best as you can hope this helps thanks for watching!
Something I was curious about. I run a ‘14 Deere 772gp. I was always amazed how economical it was. I could blade deep with massive windrows for a 12 hour day working the piss out of the grader and burn like 33 gallons. Do you notice a difference between the cat and Deere on fuel?
@@buddyrehd67 that’s pretty amazing that your Deere is that economical I call my Deere a fuel hog compared to the cat I can blade with my cat and burn 4.5 to 5 gallons an hour and my Deere I’m averaging around 5.5 to 6 gallons an hour.
Do you own these graders?
@@jeffreychandler6908 the only machine I own is the 1968 cat 12f all the other machines are owned by townships who hire me to operate for them thanks for watching!
Thanks for all the great tips. I run a 770 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Of course we spend about 6 months of the year pushing snow. I much prefer the dirt work side 🙂
Nice work , as always GreaderMan !! Happy New Year Sir , from East Texas !!
Happy new year Hope all is well I really enjoyed that outside shot looking back at the blade Maybe sometime you could do a video with just that perspective
@@garyhenion9459 happy new year all is well here and happy to hear you enjoyed that shot of looking at the moldboard I will definitely do a video like that thanks for watching!
Doesn’t look like any snow in the forecast, I never thought it could be worse than last year.
@@schneiderexc3557 this winter reminds me of 2012 we never put our wings or plows on bladed most of the winter guess time will tell thanks for watching!

As a child and living in the back woods the roads were dirt and as is the case they would eventually turn to a wash board. Since my brother and I had to entertain ourselves it was a treat to watch the grader when it was time to level out the wash boards. Even now I am reminded of those times of smelling diesel exhaust and watching how the operator was skilled in making a dirt road even and like new. I think this may have had an influence of my career choice once I had to decide what I may want to do in life for work. Eventually I became a construction equipment mechanic through my attending a Job Corps center in Clearfield Utah and the men who were our instructors were not only top notch operators but also taught us how to repair the old equipment that we had to use. That experience then lead to a career in the military and attended what was known at the time as "Engineer Equipment Mechanic" school at Fort Belvoir. Those experiences and schooling helped me to finalize my military career after twenty six years in the same field as a "Engineer Equipment Technician". This man and his skills hopefully will be used in a manner that will help so many others in his field.
Another good looking road done up great ready for winter. How do you like the jd 772gp. I run grader for 35 years. My last one was a 2015 772gp. I really liked the gradepro feature on it.
@@Richard-yq4uu thanks for the compliment and I don’t mind the 772gp it’s a good machine Deere has come a long ways in the motor grader market I just like the viability and the ease of control that my cat machines have over the Deere I do like the Deere grade pro system thanks for watching!
Great job! Thanks for showing this one, Have a Happy New Year!😊
@@jamesragus1577 thanks and your welcome. Have a happy new year also thanks for watching!
Awesome video!
@@guitarbrian1976 happy you enjoyed it thanks for watching!
I was grading one time early spring and it decided to start snowing hard. Good lord😂… I had a big mess trying to lay it out. And it didn’t take much snow to cause big problems
@@buddyrehd67 I’ve never been in that situation before I can only imagine the mess you had I know since the one township has the packer on the back I can work roads that are wet on a rainy day with no worries of making a mess since I can seal it up right behind me thanks for watching!
I can wait for snow plowing video they are the best 👍
@@etiennebernier2375 it is fun making snow plowing videos although our weather doesn’t show any snow I the next 2 weeks got shop work to catch up on though thanks for watching!
Nice job, nice rig. I've never had the luxury of a packer on machine. Usually have to articulate over and split my tracks or try and get truck drivers to pack for me. The only thing I do different is I would've made two more runs with packer only before running that last pass back for your maintenance wind row to pack any voids and will make finish look really nice. But just my preference. Nice smooth burning tho, good job bud!!
Happy Holidays, nice videos

What an awesome video looking good like the new jacket can't wait to see what you got for next year 🇺🇸🚜🤓
Thanks Jim and yes I got a new jacket for Christmas nice and bright so hopefully no one runs my buy over and should have more good videos coming this new year thanks for watching!
I was going to hit you up on our way to Montana, but we ending getting super sick with damn Covid. We actually had to stay an extra day in SD because we were so sick.
Oh no that’s no good sucks you got sick hope your doing better now lots of sickness going around right now hopefully you will make it out this way again sometime thanks for watching!
Got that right. I hate blading snow
@@outfitsgarage88 we had a horrible winter 2 years ago and that burnt me out I plowed snow 7 days a week for 2 months straight so I’m pretty done with the snow plowing
@graderman140m yeah we stayed in the ditch about as much as we plowed.
I agree with another person that commented about the amount of material you actually got them to haul you. Our area "spread dumps" the gravel as they drive down the road. Do you have issues with wash boarding when using the roll behind packer that you have?
@@stevenjrrice5694 we pay 14.40 a ton delivered anywhere in the township so on a 24 ft top for 3 inches thick of gravel a truck goes 66ft that’s right at 30,000 a mile for the gravel and no I don’t have any issues with washboards from the packer behind the grader it actually eliminates washboards if I have the right moisture and good material it sets up like concrete thanks for watching
Looking forward to my new 150 bye bye 140H ✌️
Congrats on getting into a new 150 that will be a very nice upgrade for you.
How do you like ? My company just got me a new 150 for the new year don’t know when I’ll get it Upgrading from my old 140H
I love my 150 its a great machine you will really enjoy the joystick controls and the visibility out of the cab enjoy your new machine
When widening, do you articulate slightly towards the side you are plowing? For us, it seems to "hold" you into the bank better. And yes, widening the sides every so often is essential, especially with the snow wing attachment, it appears! We don't have them on our blades, but I can definitely see some advantages!
Get a blower
@@MikeWesselmann I would love to just go get a blower but the township doesn’t own one and all I have is the grader so I tried to get road open gave up before I broke anything and just had local farmer one over with his pay loader and dig it open thanks for watching
Yeah, man, very cool. Really puts things in perspective doesn’t it?
Yes it really does, makes you appreciate what we have. Thanks for watching!
Its fun to see the Retriever in action. I dont get to see them run a lot, but i spend a lot of time with them.

@@graderman140m yes sir! I get to build them. Thank you for your videos. Very informative and fun to see someone who is good at what they do in action.
I learned how to run an old grader with a pony motor with starter . That was a peach of a grader
I learned on a blade very similar to this having this now brings back a toon of great memories thanks for watching!
@graderman140m yes sir
Geys?😅
Good ole dinosaur
I got a 14d grader good blades!

Prefer the Cat for visibility. Corner posts on JD get in my vision when finishing gravel for asphalt and concrete prep.
@@SupermanJH68 I agree with you I love the visibility out of the cat cab it’s hard to beat thanks for watching!
Good luck this season! What year is your Cat grader?
The video description says that it's a 1968. Awesome to see these old girls still taken care of.
Thanks it a 1968 12f thanks for watching!
@@Jamesbrown-xi5ihI plan to restore this machine and still use it on a few jobs this is similar to the blade I first learned how to run brings back lots of good memories!
Graderman are you a owner or operator of these graders, thanks and Happy New Year!
@@clobbyhops I own the Cat 12F as a hobby grader all the other machines on my channel are owned by townships and they hire me to operate for them thanks for watching!
Do I have to get me one of them fancy levels to adjust the bubble of my butt, or can I buy a new cushion to sit on at the Walmarts😂 Them machines are getting mighty fancy, but if it takes out the fatigue of a long day, guess it’s worth the expense,eh? Good video, Happy New Year to you!😊
Once you know you can back out, drop the plow, back drag as much spill over out with ya as you can.
She's coming alive
Yes it certainly is I still need to give you a call I apologize life got extremely busy.
Take your shades off in shop, lol may not be snow dust!!! You. A silly boy!!
Now we're talkin! I hope you're going to get yourself a tripod or two.. Want to be able to see how you swing out the blade on this one Marky hahahaha
I did buy a couple of tripods and I don’t think I will be rolling the blade out on this old girl very often I know it can be done but definitely lot harder to do on this machine thanks for watching buddy!
I hope the next video is as exciting as this gem.
Have a new video of winter time grading coming out this Saturday thanks for watching!
Awesome been waiting to see more on this old beauty!
Yes I’ve had a little time to work on it will have more videos coming of it this winter yet!
Like all of your videos. I need the level
@@frankkrahn9931 happy to hear you enjoy my videos I appreciate you way them and yes the level is very nice I use it a lot when I do my motor grader training thanks for watching!
In N E Utah where I live there is right at 3000 miles of toad to plow and 5 graders to plow it. Sand trucks pretty much stay in the towns and main roads and the graders take care of the rest. And there are a lot of people that do not understand why a grader can't be there first flake of snow.
Why do you continue to slow down before you hit the snow ?!? Quit wasting fuel and just call the blower.
@@SpencerWhiting-w9o well I’m not slowing down I’m going up a 7% grade so I’m naturally slowing down going up the hill and you always plow snow up hill I tried to get road open with the grader which is the only piece of snow removal equipment we have I was unsuccessful so quit before I broke anything and called a local farmer who has a pay loader to dig through it.
Excellent Video Mark. I'm still "getting to know" my 150 at 120hrs. I haven't tried using the Grade Control. My roads vary so much not sure I'd gain much. I absolutely hate the 150 trans. It's smoothest shift is twice as rough as Deere's roughest shift. I'm not a fan of the cartridge filters either. I simply can't think of a justification for doing that. Messy, greater chance of contamination. Did I mention messy. :) Look forward to your next video!!!! :)
Thank you so much for posting this
