LONDON part 5: The TOWER OF LONDON and SKY GARDEN

Dear friends, after a long break (a period full of commitments and things to do), I'm back to post a new video that belongs to my London series.
This time I'll take you with me to visit two extremely different places that are just a few steps away from each other.
The extraordinary Tower of London, with its long and controversial centuries-old history, and the Sky Garden, the famous garden located on the top of the Walkie Talkie skyscraper. Old and new, therefore. Two unmissable places, for different reasons, but which I absolutely invite you to visit when you come to London.
The Tower of London is one of the most important and recognizable landmarks of the city of London and beyond. It is an imposing but harmonious complex made up of various buildings arranged within two concentric rings of walls that delimit it. A UNESCO world heritage site since 1988, it truly contains a lot of English history and has also had, over time, a sinister and mysterious fame.
Built on the left bank of the Thames, it was initially seen as a synonym of oppression given that its construction, which began in 1077, was commissioned by William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy.
The White tower, still in perfect condition like the rest of the complex which owes its color to a whitewashing project carried out in 1240, served to guard the entrance to the Thames and remind everyone, with its grandeur, of the power of the Norman Conqueror.
This Tower was so important that the entire fortress took its name from it, being called the "Tower of London".
At first it served as a fortress, then it became a sinister prison where "traitors" and enemies of the Crown were locked up, then becoming a witness to dark events, tortures and crimes of important figures of the Kingdom.
It was later used as a royal residence until the 17th century, an armoury, then a state mint until the mid-19th century and even a private zoo, with animals from all the colonial lands.
Finally, inside the Tower of London we can also admire the wonderful Crown jewels stolen for security reasons from the Abbey of Westminster to be taken to what was considered the safest place in the entire Kingdom.
A priceless treasure made up of approximately 140 crowns, swords, necklaces, heraldic coats of arms, robes, objects for setting the royal table and 23,578 precious stones, all acquired during the history of the English Crown over the centuries.
I was truly amazed by the impressive beauty and finesse of these marvels, so finely chiseled and crafted that they not only have an inestimable value, in fact, but also a symbolic one, given that they represent the authority of the monarchs to sit on the throne.
After a tour of the Tower of London, I will take you not far away, still in the City of London, to visit the Sky Garden which will give you splendid 260° panoramic views of the city from the top of its 160 m (527 ft) and 37 floors.
Many of London's iconic sights, such as Tower Bridge, the City, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Southbank area and even the are perfectly visible from this incredible garden in the sky, as exactly it has been called.
Built in 2010, it is the tallest roof garden in the city and is part of the skyscraper known as Walkie Talkie due to its particular shape, narrower at the base and wider at the top. The top three floors are occupied by the Sky Garden, which presents itself as a futuristic environment in glass and steel and large windows that project the London skyline.
Different and numerous plants are welcomed in this large space, where there are also bars and restaurants where you can stop and eat something surrounded by a unique atmosphere. The Sky Garden has in fact become one of the most famous tourist attractions in London, which can be visited, with a little luck and attention, even for free, following the site's instructions.
A visit at sunset or in the evening is particularly recommended, to enjoy an even more suggestive panorama.

Lake Como is one of my favorite video-visit places, and I had not seen Nesso before this - so thank you for showing us this lovely village. I am too old to travel now but when you make such a lovely video it gives us all the sheer delight of seeing that beautiful country. I have visited southern Italy - Puglia - once, stayed in an old Masseria & that was a great experience. Italy is a beautiful, historic country with lovely people!

E' stato un.mese e mezzo in ospedale ed ora è a casa mia insieme a mia mamma. Come immaginarmi, la mia vita è totalmente cambiata e la priorità è il mio adorato papà e prendermi cura di lui al meglio. Però cercherò di tornare anche su YT. Carissimo Thomas. Purtroppo questo è un momento difficile per me e la mia famiglia. Il mio adorato papà è stato un mese e mezzo in ospedale per una polmonite da ingestione causa disfagia e questioni portato ad avere valori fuori posto ed una insufficienza renale. In ospedale ha anche contratto il Covid...figurati. Si è ripreso bene, ha combattuto ed ora è a casa mia e di mio marito con mia madre. Ovviamente dobbiamo accusarlo tutto il giorno perché non è più autonomo in nulla. Ovviamente non è facile in tutti i sensi, dal punto di vista fisico, poiché la maggior parte del tempo sta a letto e anche emotiva. Preoccupazione e stato di ansia mi accompagnano tutto il.giorno, anche se ringrazio Dio per averlo a casa abbastanza in salute. Porta il catetere ed anche questo è un problema ed ha appena avuto anche l'influenza con la tosse che ancora persiste. Ma è soprattutto lo stato d'animo che ha che non è più lo stesso, ma è comprensibile. L'eta, l'allattamento ed il mese e mezzo di ospedale non sono una passeggiata. Io non ho più tempo per nulla, Thomas. Sono sempre a casa se non per andare a fare la spesa. Certo anche questo non è facile, ma è un sacrificio che faccio con tutto il mio cuore per l'amore infinito che ho per il mio adorato papà. Spero di tornare su YT ma al momento la vedo difficile. Abbiamo una ragazza che ci aiuta, una operatrice sanitaria, ma non è sempre qui chiaramente, per cui io e mia mamma che ha 87 anni, poverina, abbiamo il carico di tutto. Spero che tu stia bene, amico mio caro e ti ringrazio per avermi pensato. Ti auguro di goderti al meglio queste belle giornate. Un grande abbraccio e spero a presto. Renata

My beloved, beloved Dad has been at the hospital for a month and a half and we all were really worried. Now he's recovering at my home with my Mom, but the situation is not easy in many ways. Some days high, some day low. We're phisically and mentali tired due to the situation, but I want to do all the possible to take care of my sweet wonderful Dad in the best way I can day after day. Hope that God Will be with us and help us to go on day by day. The smile of my Dad has no price. Darling Hee, I miss you very, very, very much. Hope you are fine and blessed with your family. I think of you and I feel so lucky to have found a special human being and precioys soul as you are, my dear friend. Hope to come back to YT as soon as possible. Ciao, tesoro. Grazie per il pensiero. So che mi vuoi bene e mi pensi ed è assolutamente reciproco. È un momento difficile. Diciamo che mi è letteralmente cambiata la vita. Oggi sono totalmente dedicata alla cura di mio papà. E non è semplice, ma lo faccio con tutto l'amore possibile. Spero di riuscire a tornare su YT ma on lo vedo tanto facile. Mi manca il tempo. E da febbraio non sono neanche mai andata da nessuna parte. Prima l'ospedale ed oggi l'assistenza a casa. Ma mio padre merita ogni sacrificio perché lo amo immensamente. Quella che mi manca tanto è uscire e soprattutto viaggiare, per quel poco che riuscivamo a fare. E mi manca anche interagire con i miei cari amici che ho conosciuto attraverso YT. Spero davvero di riuscire a ritagliarsi un po' di tempo, ma davvero non è facile. Le giornate Sono intense e stancanti e sempre piene di tensione, come puoi immaginare. Papà ha 93 anni e va accudito in tutto e per tutto. Anche fisicamente diventa provante. Mia mamma ne ha 87 e aiuta concretamente anche se sta un po' mollano dal punto di vista emotivo, per cui devo gestire anche questa situazione. Ci aiuta una ragazza, operatrice sanitaria, ma non viene tutti i giorni, sarebbe troppo costoso, per cui la maggior parte della giornata è sulle nostre spalle. Ciao, amico mio. Intanto ti ringrazio di cuore per essere passato. Io sto vivendo un momento piuttosto difficile, purtroppo. Per questo sono un po' lontana da YT da qualche tempo. Il mio amatissimo papà è stato un mese e mezzo in ospedale ed ora è a casa mia insieme a mia mamma e penso sarà una soluzione definitiva perché voglio prendermi cura di lui nel modo migliore possibile. Ora è in convalescenza e sonata riprendendo un po', ma a 93 anni non è certo facile. Il tempo e le giornate sono pienissima per me ma spero di tornare anche a questo meraviglioso mondo dove ho trovato amici sinceri con i quali condividere belle e preziose esperienze . Ciao, caro Massimo. Papà ora è a casa mia e lo accudiamo con amore. Certo non è più quello di prima, purtroppo, ma un mese e mezzo di ospedale per un uomo di 93 anni che ha preso anche il Covid durante la degenza, non è una passeggiata. Ha passato tutto con forza essendo un uomo fondamentalmente sano, ma certo sarà lunga. Ha avuto una polmonite da ingestione a causa della disfagia e solo Adesso sembra riprendersi e ricominciare a mangiare, seppure tutto frullato. Ma era deperitissimo uscito dall'ospedale. Comunque ringrazio Dio per averlo a casa e poterlo ancora abbracciare con tutto il mio amore. GRAZIE di vero cuore per la tua amicizia e le tue parole. Un grande abbraccio. Renata

Carissima Mihaela, grazie di avermi scritto e chiesto notizie. Purtroppo mio papà, il.mio adorato papà , che ha 93 anni, è stato in ospedale per un mese e mezzo. Polmonite da ingestione, insufficienza renale e ho alcuni valori sballati. In ospedale ha preso.amche il Covid...puoi immaginare. Sono state settimana terribili. Lui ha combattuto e si è ripreso giorno.dopp giorno riuscendo a uscirne. Ma ovviamente ora dobbiamo monitorare attentamente l'assunzione di cibo e liquidi, fargli fare fisioterapia, perché è stato a letto tantissimo. Ora è da una settimana esatta a casa mia e le cose vanno benino, ma ovviamente è una persona fragile da accudire. Amo mio padre più della.mia vita. Ovviamente non ho al momento tempo per YT, in verità non ho più tempo per nulla, ma sono felice che papà sia a casa. Lo seguono delle infermiere attivate dallo Stato per quello che serve, anche se ora sembra che le terapie infusionali saranno sospese perché ha ripreso a nutrirsi autonomamente. Ma c'è sempre il pericolo costante di un'altra polmonite da ingestione. Tantissime cose da fare, faticose anche, perché non ci possiamo permettere una persona fissa che ci aiuti. Ho quindi deciso di far venire miei genitori qui a casa mia. Mia mamma ha 87 anni ma pensa che mi aiuta tantissimo. Mio marito esce presto al mattino e torna la sera dopo le 20 e fa quindi quello che può. Insomma, sono dentro un frullatore, amica mia, ma sono felicissima e grata a Dio che papà abbia superato tutto. Certo, è una persona fragile e non è più quello di prima, ma ha 93 e prima di.questo momento non aveva mai visto un ospedale ed era sempre stato bene. Mihaela, spero che per te tutto sia a posto, tesoro. Mi hai fatto tanto contenta. Per il momento non riesco proprio ad essere presente su YT, ma spero un giorno di tornare.
