Today I take you with me to two places of the heart
In Numana and Sirolo, in the Marche Region, in Central Italy.
And I show you two of the most beautiful views of the entire Riviera del Conero that can be admired from two viewpoints located in the heart of these two splendid seaside resorts.I know these places very well and have always been in love with them. This region is one of the most beautiful in Italy, without any doubt.Marvelous sea, the mountain range of the Sibillini Mountains, the splendid hills, the medieval villages ... All in a small and wonderful Region. A charm indeed !!Here is the Monte Conero, high mt. 572 with its Park, a spectacular environmental oasis completely unique in Italy, where dozens and dozens of wonderful paths immerse themselves in the green of the Mediterranean scrub overlooking the crystal clear waters of this part of the Adriatic Sea.
Numana and Sirolo are two truly ancient locations. The presence of man is even traced back to the Neolithic and Bronze Age. In fact, there are numerous settlements still visible today, such as the necropolis that can be visited in Sirolo, not all unearthed.These two locations have both experienced the same historical path.First the settlements of the Piceni, then the Greeks and finally the Romans.At the end of the Western Roman Empire, the Lombards arrived and then became territories of the Papal State in more recent times.Of great importance and historical significance are the testimonies present in the Antiquarium of Numana, where there are finds dating back to the prehistoric age, together with Picene and Roman tombs.Other very important testimonies are the Roman Arch and the ancient Aqueduct, also from the Roman era, all present in the picturesque historic center of the town.Of particular importance is the Miraculous Crucifix present in the Parish Church of Numana. Tradition has it that this Crucifix comes from the Holy Land, brought by Charlemagne to Europe as a gift for Pope Leo III, but never arrived in Rome due to a storm. The Crucifix was saved but then returned following an earthquake and tsunami.It was then found by fishermen from Numana and donated to the Church.The characteristic is that Jesus is portrayed without beard and without suffering in the face, which is depicted serene and with open eyes.Another characteristic of Numana is the Costarella, a steep street with countless steps that connects the upper part of the town to the port and which was traveled every day by fishermen who took to the sea.In Sirolo we find the Baroque Church of the Rosary from 1603, the one dedicated to San Nicola, with the splendid bell tower, from the 1700s, the remains of the imposing medieval walls, which testified to the presence of a Castle, the splendid and picturesque alleys, the Villa Vetta Marina, overlooking the sea, a former convent from the 1300s of which a beautiful small chapel remains.These two splendid locations are the most beautiful of the Conero Riviera which is truly a wonderful corner of Italy that I really invite you to visit.As always, I want to thank you for the friendship and affection you always show me through your comments.You motivate and encourage me a lot.
