This video is still dedicated to Valle d'Aosta, a splendid region of Northern Italy, dominated by beautiful and very famous mountain ranges, including that of the Mt. Cervino..
In this video I will take you with me to discover the small and wonderful Lake Blue, at the foot of the Matterhorn, the splendid peak on the border between Italy and Switzerland, 4.478 meters high.
Lake Blue, in fact, is located about half an hour of easy path from Breuil-Cervinia, a renowned and elegant ski resort since the distant nineteenth century from which you can reach the wonderful glacier of the Plateau Rosa.
We are in Valtournenche, or Valle del Cervino, the alpine valley in the eastern part of the Region, at the confluence of the Dora Baltea river and the spectacular Marmore stream.
Lake Blue is fed by spring waters that make it crystal clear and owes its wonderful turquoise color to the presence of a particular type of algae in the seabed.
This spectacular high mountain lake is surrounded by centuries-old larch and fir trees and is surrounded by the Matterhorn chain, which, on clear and cloudless days, is quietly reflected in its waters, giving the lucky visitors an unforgettable spectacle.
Hence, its name of "mirror of the Matterhorn".
The landscape scenery enjoyed from Lake Blue is priceless. From this point some trails of different difficulties start which offer tourists enchanting views even of the surrounding glaciers.
But a legend is also linked to Lake Blue that tells of a young boy who took the defense of a hungry traveler to whom he offered food, was therefore sent away to look for firewood and on his return found the splendor of this lake.
My visit to this unforgettable place was made on a sunny summer day but with some clouds that crowned the peaks, to make everything even more fascinating.
From Lake Blue we made a small hike in one of the paths and we admired the spectacular panorama of the Matterhorn chain that stood out in all its iconic beauty.
Lake Blue can also be easily reached by car and can be visited in any season.

The Matterhorn mountain is such a beautiful place and I had a jig saw puzzle as a kid that had the mountain reflecting off the blue lake that I had to put together.
I also went to Disneyland in 2014 and took my sons on the Matterhorn roller coaster 😂😂
