Приєднався 12 лис 2019
Hello, my name is Jerry Stone. I make skits, documentaries, short films, do restorations, and more! Here on this channel, we don't necessarily do the most convenient or practical way of getting things done, but we usually accomplish something in the end.

Philco 38-116 Restoration Part 1

Here it finally is, the great 38-116. This will be quite a project, probably taking more than a two-part series to complete. I'll intersperse these parts with other radios to give some variety to the content.

I'm back. Do I employ safety? No. Will I upload consistently? No. Do I have space for any more radios? NO. Will you enjoy this video? Maybe.

This year, Jerry is back at DU with a fancier camera and fresh determination! Will he and his team Raptacon 3200 succeed, or will they fall victim to the YELLOW CARD?
My Experience With Film Photography

In this 20 minute extravaganza, Jerry explains why film photography is inconvenient in every way, and why he still did it! With some cats and snow, of course.

The Great Workbench Replacement

Jerry's workbench has endured almost 4 years of constant use. Because it is way too small, it is time to replace it. Will Jerry succeed, or will the IKEA furniture defeat him?

Jerry and Ryan's ORIGINAL Dollar Store Food Adventures (2020)
Very nice Jerry, the radio sounds great! Thanks for the kind mention as well.
@@MrCarlsonsLab You're welcome! I have been watching your videos for quite a while now and they have taught me many aspects of the hobby that are valuable to know.
Unless, (we, and you) get the word out by mouth; young people won't see this! They're too busy texting! Or playing, (evil, bloody) games! I give you a 👍for your efforts. I'm 76 and after being in the Network Industry for 40+ years. I've been restoring radio's during retirement. --- Where we differ, I ALWAYS replace ALL the CAPs before a first power-up.
Thanks for the video, that is a sweet one, really love the Bakelite case, art deco is a favorite period. I'm 63 LOL! That chassis reminds me of that strange motel table radio Shango looked at a while ago, same antenna.

Nice to see younger people getting in this hobby. Tired of watching old farts like me do this and sometimes wrongly!
Watching a young man like you repairing Old Radios warms my heart :) I worked on Electronics for 27 years now " Retired" but still work on them.
Thanks for keeping the hobby alive, Jerry!
Jerry you're an impressive character ! --- Hopefully your endeavors all come to fruition -- Carry On Lad !
Jerry you're quite an intuitive and well-spoken young man -- Continue Your Quest, Lad !
See: *Jim Burns* if you like to see a radio tore down. Good looking radio, though. If you had room I would use terminal strips for mounting. Liquid Tape would fix that speaker. YA! Stay away from WD-40 !!
JERRY STONE! I am very glad, to see you again! greetings from me in the Netherlands!
Very cool
Corrections: No, a cap going to ground makes the radio not a true "hot chassis", but a significant amount of current still is present, so similar cautions should be exercised. Also, film and non-electrolytic paper caps are not really polarized, but the outside foil on the construction can introduce more noise to the circuit if installed one way. You can find this outside foil using an oscilloscope for newer caps.
Nice job Jerry! #28 from Illinois.
nice restoration. see you at the club meetings
Wow! a fellow owner of a '65 Thunderbird Special Landau! I have one in my garage right now... has been sitting for over a year as I do the one piece at a time restoration on it as that is all the budget will allow. I live in Oregon, so the Birds nest has all kinds of parts. I have rebuilt the rear springs, all the rubber bushings in the front end, and now I have the power steering gear box almost out for rebuilding.... God bless. How do you like your Tbird?
Hey buddy! I have also made so many receivers ,transmitters and repaired some Commercial radios and walkie talkies , I love my hobby , I am so glad to see you enjoying your hobby.
JERRY! I am a real fan of you; iam doing radio`s also! Greetings from the Netherlands.
What do you do with the radios once you've recapped them?
I usually display them, but I may eventually sell a few. If you want to see my displays, check out my community tab.
Great video. It's so good to see a new generation learning and teaching others about valve (tube) technology. One small but important point: at 1:38 you refer to your Variac as an isolation transformer. A Variac is a brand of autotransformer, and so one side of the primary is also connected directly to the secondary. It will not protect you in the same way as an isolation transformer can. Search 'autotransformer' for more detail. Subscribed.
Another cute little radio, thanks for showing!
What a cute little radio!
JERRY! I CAN SEE YOUR BEAUTIFUL CAT! ( a little bit dark)!

“W” is for working voltage not wall voltage
Lead soldering has no real draw backs. The smoke you see is actually from the liquid rosin inside the solder being heated up. Lead has a boiling point of 3180 degrees Fahrenheit so you are only making it from a solid to a viscous liquid itself. Of course I wouldn't want to breathing rosin vapors either so running a computer power supply fan to take away the vapor is good. Jerry do some lighting behind the camera. It is really hard to see the work with only side lighting.
