Nice job replacing the seals in the p/s pump on the '65 Special Landau, however you definitely should've repainted the housing black too before re-installing the pump in the car!
Wow! a fellow owner of a '65 Thunderbird Special Landau! I have one in my garage right now... has been sitting for over a year as I do the one piece at a time restoration on it as that is all the budget will allow. I live in Oregon, so the Birds nest has all kinds of parts. I have rebuilt the rear springs, all the rubber bushings in the front end, and now I have the power steering gear box almost out for rebuilding.... God bless. How do you like your Tbird?
First I see you repair tube radio's like a pro, next an oil pump of a car. What will be next? Some part of a nuclear power plant, or maybe of a space ship? Ride On!
Great! I had a 65 TBird many years ago. Never had to rebuild a power steering pump on it. I had a spare from another car. This is the late version of the pump, BTW. Much improved over the early version. Where did you get the seals?
I got mine from CJ Pony Parts, but I have heard you can also get them from NAPA. Here's the link: www.cjponyparts.com/power-steering-seal-kit-with-ford-pump-mustang-1965-1973/p/D1AZ3B584A/#
I wasn't able to track exactly where it was leaking from, but I suspect the bottom seal that goes around the pulley axle. Here's the timestamp: 5:42 - 5:52. I also got my replacement seals from CJ pony parts. www.cjponyparts.com/power-steering-seal-kit-with-ford-pump-mustang-1965-1973/p/D1AZ3B584A/# One final thing, I highly recommend you remove the high pressure pipe off of the pump after you remove it from the car, so it doesn't get bent. Good Luck!
No fear. Atta boy. You can do anything with courage and will.

Where was your pump leaking from? I have a 65 Tbird that is leaking at the high pressure line output line

I have the same problem with my 65 Galaxie 500. Bought a rebuild kit from O'Reilly today
