Your videos are awesome. And here I am thinking I'm on the younger side of the people resurrecting radios. 😂

On the Jackson Bell radio , it has no AVC. The volume control goes to one side of the antenna. You are the volume control!
Those two empty light bulb sockets in the back are where two separate 8uF wet electrolytic cases went. Voltage wise you
could use anything at or above 300 VDC. One went to ground the other to the field coil . Must see the schematic for
    more Jerry.

I used to think bigger was better with electrolytics until I trashed my rectifier tubes with a 100uF cap when it was 20uF originally. I would stick with the original values to keep the inrush current under control when the set is first turned on. This is especially true with a transformer set. I'm pretty sure you know all this. Just thought I'd mention it for people in the comment section.

I think I remember seeing something about filters that screw in like lighbulbs on a forum. You're smart, I'm sure you can tackle it or already have.I am also stumped on a radio, it's from the early 1930's I thinks it's very similar to the Rare GE J-100, same components but a different housing, suposidly J100 a Cathedral is like the holy grail. Mine it's labled a J-105 which I can only find a J-105 made in 1941. I can only find other confused people on forums with the same issue. One actually has a J-100 with a J-105 radio in it so I'm thinking they made them at the same time. 1 is J-100 a Cathedral mine is J105 a floor model. My only hope is to try and compare it to the J-100 schematics because no one knows what these 1932 J-105's are. 😂

Lucky you didn't face the typical Philco open primary oscillator/antenna coil windings. I've rewound them in almost every Philco 60 and 89 set I've worked on. Though maybe someone else did, I do see an IF transformer was replaced. On the Jackson Bell, I'd start with checking components like power transformer and speaker field before doing anything else. Not sure if the capacitors are in boxes filled with tar, but if so I'd label the wires and just go along slowly with the schematic...

Thanks for the reply! While I didn't show it in the video, I did take the chassis out for inspection. I saw that the original filters had been replaced with some smaller tubular capacitors probably from the 50's. I will definitely check the transformer and speaker soon!
