    Have the bearings lasted? Also would a couple 2 piece clamps beside the bearings help hold the shaft with all the vibration.

    • @TheGoldmansChannel
      @TheGoldmansChannel 25 днів тому

      Bearings have held up no problems at all Richard. I've put quite a few tonnes through the little Jaw crusher now and it's been bloody fantastic. Well and truly exceeded my expectations. I have made some minor changes to things also though. I will upload a review video of the Jaw soon, detailing changes and better ideas for others to try. Thats a good idea mate, even just a little welded plate behind the bearings each side would be very handy. That would remove the slop from the bolt holes. I have the bearings pushed all the way back towards the motor for this reason, but little positioning plates behind the bearings would be much better. 👍🏿👍🏿

    This video is great. it shows that if I have all the gear and do a lot of work in a great location I can make about $50 a day. So as much as I want to do this and would enjoy making and testing the gear its like all hobbies. Expensive. keep the videos coming I'll enjoy gold mining from afar.

    Hello how can I remove silver from my fine gold? The gold has been xrf test to 97% with 3 % silver. Is there are to smelt the silver out to 9999’s?

    • @TheGoldmansChannel
      @TheGoldmansChannel Місяць тому

      G'day Jenko, you can remove the silver quite easily with some chemistry. But it does require some basic equipment. Research "Gold Inquartation" to learn the process. Inquartation is the easiest way to remove your silver, it will involve adding more silver to the mix with a melt, to bring the silver content up to around 75%. Once there is approx that amount of silver in the mix, you can easily dissolve all of the silver off in some hot dilute nitric acid. Leaving just the gold sponge behind. The silver can then also be recovered again with the addition of copper to the waste solution. The copper will replace the silver in the solution slowly, leaving you again with near pure elemental silver in your beaker.

      Had that happen a few times over the years 😅. Not for a long time though, I'm careful with the positioning. Finding the perfect balance between a safe spot for it to sit, that's also close enough to the water to reduce load on the engine and in turn, save on fuel costs 😁

    • @TheGoldmansChannel
      @TheGoldmansChannel Місяць тому

      The eccentric is really something that will need to be manufactured by your local engineering/fabrication shop Beefer. Or if you have any friends that own a metal lathe, go visit them and draw up some designs. Bearings are about the easiest bit usually, readily available online. But if you get stuck, ask the fabrication shop to source them for you when they do the Eccentric 😁

      What is the offset measure that you used on your shaft?

    • @TheGoldmansChannel
      @TheGoldmansChannel Місяць тому

      I went with a 10mm difference, which more or less gives me a 20mm throw. 30mm diameter either side of the 40mm centre. I would go with a 15mm difference if I did it again, giving it a 30mm throw. I wasn't confident my engine was going to deliver the power it needed at that time. But in retrospect, it would have handled it fine with the pulley ratios I'm currently using.

    • @TheGoldmansChannel
      @TheGoldmansChannel Місяць тому

      The knuckles are the biggest issue. They flog out very quickly, so we ALWAYS tape up the knuckle so it's rigid and can't be twisted side to side. They only need to be adjusted vertically as you're going. The telescopic shaft also flogs out very quickly, so we tape over the cam locks and the shaft below each cam lock before use also. Keep an eye out for cracks on the top cover plate and general top area of the coil also, some recent batches of coils have been poorly constructed and are prone to cracking. This renders the detector useless under water. Extreme care should be taken under water also, as minelab only install a basic rubber grommet inside the coil where the cable enters. Some work fine forever, some leak after a few hours of use in the water, some fail quicker! If your detector suddenly becomes hypersensitive to everything around it, you've almost certainly had water enter the coil.

    Crazy that you disturb your sluice before getting a catch baison under the end of it. picking up the black mat over the v mat likly lost some gold and also change in velosicty of water goofs up the retention behind the riffels. Like your trommel very much. Seems to me water flow under the riffels through the miners moss will hinder gold retention. I used a highbanker with 35 feet of sluice and friend were amazed that I had gold all the way down it. Have to compliment you however not kicking over the concentrates pan hauling the pump and trommel passed it, that's my usual trick. Curious would it not been more productive to have used time spent paning cons on the creek running another 20 minutes through the trommel?

    • @TheGoldmansChannel
      @TheGoldmansChannel Місяць тому

      Thanks Darren! I didn't sample my fine tailings this time, no. I rarely do, to be honest. I stopped worrying about losing gold about a decade ago. Did a heap of experimentation with sluices, flow, and feed rates to establish recovery rates. The end result was clear. Gold doesn't like leaving the box. Bugger all of it even makes it into the blue miners moss, let alone coming out the end. And I always "swish" out my boxes by hand to reduce volume. Many years ago I lost a big flat flake by being a bit aggressive with my swish. But that was in a clean up sluice with 10 or so grams packed into it. Like I said, gold ain't easy to kick out of a good box 😁
