As someone who watched this channel from your season two recaps and who recognised you and got excited during Gen Z, this whole video breaks my heart. One of the many things that people do not understand about autistic people, is that our "comfort zone" is not necessarily something to break out of. It's our comfort zone, which has a different meaning from the neurotypical meaning. It's how we cope with living in an neurotypical society, and how we recover too. We need our comfort zone. I think with Kate being 26 and the father died 8 years ago, Kate was 18 when her father died. I don't know how she would have taken over for the family and technically she would not have been legally of age by English standards until the age of 25. I think India was still under British rule at that time. Elouise should be 18 since this is the year she made her debut. Penelope debuted one year early which made her 17 last year, 18 this year, and 19 in the third season. I think in Antony's story, I wish they had stuck to the book and had Lady Featherington catch them on the bee sting. I think that would have given Antony and Kate time to work through their relationship.

She is a real person, it's not normal to be okay with taking off ones clothes for millions of people to watch. I don't think Eloise is wrong to feel she needs distance but she has never really listened to Penelope and for the sake of the previous friendship she should have let Penelope tell her side of the whole story.

Y'know, the repeated fan refrain after S1, and especially after S2, was that Penelope & Colin were TPTB's favorites. And maybe that was true for the first showrunner, but nothing I saw onscreen in this season makes me think this new showrunner even remotely likes either of those two characters. I usually hate to go off of Word of God b/c what gets put onscreen should speak for itself, but the subpar writing/directing/editing this season had me looking at interviews, and, uh...it ain't great. In one interview, the showrunner said that there's more story to tell for Penelope & Colin in S4 b/c unlike the other couples, they didn't finish the season with a happy ending. And in another, she said that the sex scenes were there to 'say something' about the characters, and there was nothing more to say about Penelope & Colin as a couple after the final ball, so that's why there was only a mostly-clothed, blink-and-you'll-miss-it intimate scene between them at the end. And also...as much as I loved the Fran & John romance, it does not escape me that there was quite a bit of time devoted to this romantic storyline for a character that the showrunner has stated in multiple interviews is the one she resonated most with, in a season that shortchanged the romantic story *of the main leads*.

Nicola Coughlan actually talked about it in an interview that she did zero chemistry reads and none of the cast acually did. She said that Shonda is actually known for having a great intuition about actors and picking pairings on a hunch. In her shows she usually makes the final decision about casting after the preselection is met by her casting team - and the results are very often great.

I don't like the way they're taking Francesca's line: okay, even if she likes her husband's cousin, why spoil their love for him? This scene at the end only seems to confirm Violet's primary idea that love is only so passionate, so bright, so at first sight, and so true (which in life has many more variations). I am disappointed

Regarding the scene with Colin and Penelope where she is riding him fully robed. This surprised me as well. The only thing I could think was that maybe Nicola did not want to do another nude scene. She has the right to choose. But I agree it just doesn't hit properly. She should have come across as much more powerful and in control.

I was pretty pissed about the gender swap of Michael. When He Was Wicked was one of my favorite books filled with depth, complexity and themes about dark issues. I have concerns about the way they are going to adapt that book. Book 2 had darker themes too and the writers basically threw it out the window. Even after seeing Julia Quinn back the gender swap, I am concerned that the show is including diversity just for the sake of it.

Can y'all do a season 3 review please?

Ive read most of the books 6/8. Romancing Mister Bridgerton is not my favorite book, but I did like the season. I feel like some things they improved on from the book and other things made Polin's story worse. Definitely wish they had more screen time, but it was a HUGE improvement for me from season 2. I don't think it was as good as season 1 for me, but then again doing better than season 2 is not a high bar to clear. What annoys me is that they seemed to have a lot more references and influences from the book than season 2... So obviously they are capable of adapting a book to screen.

New to your channel. Great insights. I loved Queen Charlotte. I really did in terms of a love story. Everything that you mentioned regarding the depiction of Black women, I recognized, and I didn't like it. These aspects did not prevent me from enjoying the series. That said, it has in a way made me even more militant and discerning. I'm glad I am not the only one who speaking up about this. I am watching your video a year later when Season 3 has been released. I will check to see if you have reviewed Season 3.

I've appreciated your added context as book devotees, actors, writers, and scholars of the romance genres. And let me add that as someone who hasn't read any of the books, the flaws of Bridgerton season 3 stand out even against the narratives and world-building the show sets out in the earlier releases. I agree with almost everything that you guys said. They totally short-changed Colin! Colin had his "strong" moments. But that was what it was: mere moments. Once, I finished Part 2, which was binged the day it dropped. I was eager to discuss this. I found a bridgerton group on FB and said exactly what Marissa expressed here. Screw the gender bending. It was supposed to be Michela that was struck. I loved Francesca up until that kiss. They totally cheated John Sterling out of his love story. I wished they had kept her introvertly giddy with her husband, and they zoomed in Michela hanging on her every word with a strong chemistry vibe. The one thing I totally disagreed with is the money from Penelope. Their mother kept their strife from her girls. I loved that she used her money on her sisters she didn't need to take care of family. By the time Penelope knew she was a bridgerton, Colin, though a third son, was taught well by his father who literally set up his and provided for All his children. Years after he died. All Anthony had to do is keep the reigns He knew how to handle his household. I wish they had shown that. His mother-in-law was now taken care of regardless. Notice she was still financially holding on even though two of her daughters were married, but it was only after Penelope married Colin that she relaxed. They show brushed over that. They truly now had a man of the household. He has his own money to live off, but he would have had to access the family future for that high a blackmail money.

Bully! Penelope dressed so poorly and couldn't talk to anyone. Look at how she talks to men. I've been Penelope. Bookish, serious, quiet...it's hard. I had one best friend. She needed time and room to blossom...like I did. 😅

LOL...I've watched your video's intro multiple times. 😆🤣😂 And I agree with your comments in all of your Season 3 videos. I almost ceased watching S3 after viewing the first two episodes...I didn't feel compelled to continue as I was after viewing episodes 1-2 of S1 and S2. There was no 'spark' or 'wow' in this season's pacing or writing.

I watched this show on peacock (without ads) and i was sooooo upset about the outcome and what not, I almost wanted to message the LEAD😂😂 however LOVED HER

This group of showrunners have proven that they don't know how to stay true to characters (pick one), they don't know how to redeem a baddie (Cressida), they don't know how to tell a romantic love story (Polin, Frohnchaela), and they don't know how to tell a believable/compelling self-actualization moment (Peneldown). So why should we have faith that they'll tell Benedict's story with any romance, or give Frankencesca's story any of the believable heart & redemption needed for us to stay invested?

I agree with you with them choosing a dark skin black woman for michela. The leaad director wanted a llesbian sstoryy as she related to tthe storyline in the books but tthey didnt have tto chosse thatt actress. Its a valid critism as i seee it many timees on tv whhere black woman are moostly shown as agrressivee and unfeminine when wee aree clearly women with the same feminine characteristics. Im that stidy can understand having trouble identifying different ethic groups from another race as ur not damilar or seeing those fearures alot than someone of the race, if there was no time limit to identify the pictures this is crazg not to be able to distinguish black men and black women. I dont interact that often with white ir asian people due to where i live but i will be able to know men from women of any race. With their writing i dont trust them to write michela as a women instead ofjust a literal replacement of micheal in the books and i really like micheal and Francesca.

I haven't actually watched S3. I pretty much watched only your reaction video and Jesly Cruz's reaction video. I loved QC. But the regular Bridgerton show has been disappointing.

1:05:58 I think that the actress *was* supposed to be Sophie, but then there was so much from the fans about Benedict being bi, that they had to put the actress on hold or just immediately decided to "fix" things by making her Michaela instead. But I agree that if they were going to have Michaela be the gender-swapped cousin, then they should've had the cousin be flustered, not Francesca. That makes sense.

11:50 I don't get how people are saying the Benedict bi storyline came out of nowhere. There were heavy bi vibes in S1. The writers did pull back a bit in S2, so maybe people just forgot about Benedict in S1.

I don't think I'll ever forget a conversation I had with my partner teacher after the Matilda musical movie came out. I thought the movie was cute, but I vastly preferred the 90's movie. My partner was absolutely gushing over it though. She was so happy to see Ms. Honey as this beautiful, dark-skinned black woman and she kept saying it was so wonderful to see a woman who looked like her in this role attributed with characteristics like feminine, pure, cherished, etc. I think that was the first time I truly noticed this lack of excellent diversity in media. Yeah, as a whole, there is more "diversity" in entertainment, but it's just as stereotyped as ever. I really wish the actress had been cast as Sophie. Michaela and Sophie have such different qualities and if the actress had been cast as Sophie, then she would've been cherished and beloved in the show. Benedict is one of the most romantic characters in the show and he would've treated her like a queen. I certainly don't know how they are going to portray Michaela going forward, but Michael did all the pursuing in the book. It's just... they were right there! Sophie was right there!!! They were so close. Also, shout out to poor John. The first dark-skinned black male that is a main character and a wonderful human being gets to be a beard. Good job Bridgerton! /s

LADIES.....You both were SO entertaining this season. And so thorough in your perceptions and takes on each character and the different issues of the show. I have watched the season 3 times and what's interesting for me is that I keep going back and forth between really enjoying it to almost loving it and then almost hating it. I can't say I have ever felt that way about a show and its season to this degree. I admit, this is one of my favorite couples from the books and I was SO excited to see their take on Colin but overall was super saddened in how they took his character. No fault to the actor at all, I think he did an amazing job with what he was given. Just some of the choices they made and it keep being not earned in the development of both their relationship as well as separately was dissapointing. I have a feeling they are going to be doing "makeups" of that for the next season as you mentioned like they did with KAnthony. But particularly with Frannie and Michael/a storyline, I was SO frustrated that they made it seem as though Frannie never liked or loved John. It is so strange. Their love story is so beautiful and they just threw it down the toilet for what.....ugh. And what you mentioned towards the end, very much so a strange thing to witness how the "cop-out" of diversity without letting them have a fully developed human like character with depth and realness with agency and complexity. It's a bunch o bullshit.
