IS38 GTI FBO/APR JB4 stacked/Slicks vs 2016 Roush Stage 3 5.0 on street tires. It was 11.4@120 (GTI) vs 12.0@120 (Roush). Factory/Unmodified IS38 Golf R Turbo on a MK7 GTI runs 11.1@126MPH. Basically FBO, APR tuned, JB4 stacked, single nozzle meth injection for cooling, E30 mix all on M&H tires. Stock engine, stock trans/clutches, factory VW IS38. A big thanks to George at Burger Tuning and the guys at Smith VW for all the help and support!

IS38 GTI from 40-135 MPH . Speedometer is off by 2mph at 40mph and much more by 132mph on the dash due to taller 245/45 MT drag radials.

I was able to set a new factory MK7 IS38 turbo trap speed record (121.8mph) and FWD MK7 street tire ET record too (12.2)! Too much power through "wrong-wheel-drive" while running normal summer street tires in 40*F temps on less than desirable track conditions, which meant I couldn't go full throttle until around the 1/8th mile marker without spinning out of control… so there is still a lot more...

Full bolt on 15' GTI with IS38 turbo on pump 93oct. SAE corrected 371.35WHP/381.31WTQ. STD correction factor reads 380.56WHP/390.77WTQ. The numbers are pretty good, but still had more left in it with better fuel and ideal conditions. My car is FBO with IS38 APR tuned on street gas vs Stg II APR with just downpipe tune and intake I think. Filmed in Mexico, run was from about 45-100MPH. Worth noting that he is MT (I'm DSG) and had his GF in the car too. Cool guy, good times at the Philly Cheesesteak Run today!

No surprise when you talking about 200hp abarth with a 300hp vw
at 200hp they're definitely much quicker, but the cars were slow af to begin with so its not fast by any means my stage2 abarth slow af
How much boost did you end up putting thru the is38 at high rpm? I am on Unitronic's is38 file and was considering doing a jb4 stack. I live at 6000 feet elevation and the Unitronic file drops a lot of boost up here. I peak at 19 psi and taper to 16. Its a 93 tune and i can run straight 91 with NO KR above 4,500 rpm even with 13° timing. That tells you how mild the tune is

He has less power, a manual and a passenger. If he had a DSG and no passenger the gap would have been less, at least a 3 car difference. You put 6 cars on him.

@@PapiAndrey he didn’t the record is 125mph and it’s not him and that car was completely gutted and stacked. You not coming anywhere near 126-127 with a is38 they max 415whp. 126-127 is a small hybrid like a vortex on ethanol.

Hey man I have is38 apr Mk7 as well. I would love to pick your brain a little bit. Dunno how I would do that. But man I felt like I had exhausted power mods for this platform....until I just watched your DAP Clubsport video. I’m dying to know how to use the JB4 in combo with my APR tune....is this how you’re getting 30+ PSI??? APR max out at 27-28. Please hit me back brother! Perhaps we could find a better way to conversate?
Couple of questions....1) Is that a stock is38 or a hybrid is38? Because there is no way your running 126mph with a stock is38. 2) what's the advantages of running the jb4 with the APR stage 2 tune? Can itCouple harm the motor? 3) When you ran the 11.1@125mph how much did the car weight? Did you remove all the interior? Thanks love the car.

I ran against stage 2 APR golf R VS Audi s3 stage 2 Eurodyne ( both DSG ) . The difference was between 2 to 3 cars ( APR WIN ) , both cars with the same mods.

That air spinning sound scares me. Can someone tell me what that is? Is it the turbo under strain? I just want to know because I haven't heard it on turbo cars from other brands.
That's compressor surge. Basically only happens prior to 3k rpm, before valve cam profile switches over to accept more air(VW version of VTEC), turbo is trying to cram air into the engine where engine can't take anymore, so air surges back out to intake against the spin of compressor. This is really bad for turbo shaft and bearings. The sound you are probably looking for is those swooshing squirrel sound from JDM cars when they lift off, that is perfectly safe as wastegate opened and turbine isnt spinning the blades anymore.
@@brianchen3964 interesting that the VTEC kicks in at 3000. How do you know that? I seem to have compressor surge on my stage 2 car and like you've said, I landed on it not happening above 3k but happening below 3k....

Why would you so tomioka? The EQT makes better power and spools just as quick if not faster, not to mention there's WAY more people and data on the EQT kit making it more reliable, plus EQT have much better customer service, and their boy Ed talks to everyone. The EQT vortex is much better dude, also those aren't big turbos, an is38 hybrid isn't big turbo

who's burning oil? The white stuff in the compressor using is from octane booster btw. I don't burn a drop of oil between oil changes lol

Im still on the same one I purchased new in early 2015... 25K miles of daily driving, 600+ pulls, 250+ drag passes and 13 track days with it still going strong and little to no shaft play
The IS38 is a fairly strong turbo for a stock, lot of people tend to go for the hybrids though
