  • My car is FBO with IS38 APR tuned on street gas vs Stg II APR with just downpipe tune and intake I think. Filmed in Mexico, run was from about 45-100MPH.
    Worth noting that he is MT (I'm DSG) and had his GF in the car too. Cool guy, good times at the Philly Cheesesteak Run today!

    Badass! The GTI is so nice. Looks like maybe these things will run mid -low 11s with some good rubber? You friggin blasted him. That's like a BT vs stage 2 difference on the old platform.

    Sick setup brother. I'm stage 1 right now. You think I should jump straight to is38 or stage 2 first?

      +Justin Pense Your call man, either one is great. Just keep in mind that you need to remove the downpipe to install the IS38, so you will save some time or money if you jump directly into IS38 if that is your ultimate goal.

    im going to get the IS38 soon. Is this with a downpipe or stock downpipe? also how much for all the mods?

    sweet setup. Did you had to update your fuel system for the IS38 swap?

    For your is38 tune, are you running the test pipe file or the APR down pipe file?

    do aftermarket downpipes for the is28 also fit the is38? or do you have to buy a new one?

    Drag racing isn't really my thing... but absolutely! R's are running mid 11's with more weight and less power, with slicks that should be a cake walk :).

    He has less power, a manual and a passenger. If he had a DSG and no passenger the gap would have been less, at least a 3 car difference. You put 6 cars on him.

      +marcelo cf So far I have taken down a 400WHP Evo and 380WHP STI from a roll by a couple cars... but I'm looking setup a run against something like a stock-ish C7 vette.

      +RjRacing best I did at the track was 12.15@111.3mph. 60ft was 1.72. I think it can do better if I shift it different but I only got a few runs in. My R is stage 1 APR with intake. That was full weight + some.

      +RjRacing hey the shop you were at the owner Andrew has a stock c7 auto. Would be a sick race. He beat our 2016 apr stage 1 by like 8 cars. I don't know how to private message on UA-cam but message me your number if you want and we'll connect up.

    Yo man! We have a 16 gti with apr stage 1 on it and it rips. I can't imagine that! You brought your car to my good friend Andrews shop (he did my Vette) Hit me up if you want to cruise sometime. We have a ton of sick cars in the Philly region

      +TheMonsters Thanks brotha. Andrew was a really cool guy. I will def take you up on that come spring time, I'm back on A/S tires now for and have no traction until halfway through 3rd gear lol.

    what do you trap at the track with it.

    • @rjracing9917
      @rjracing9917  9 років тому

      +Michael Guinther I'm having issue with traction control kicking on (even though its deactivated via VAGCOM) and it was warm/humid out when I went, I only trapped 115mph. Everyone was complaining their runs were bad and traps were low that night due to weather. As a benchmark, I ran my buddy that has an STI that consistently traps in the 115mph and I pulled almost 2 cars on him twice going from 40-110mph. I would guess it should be trapping at least 117-118's the way it sits at full street weight, maybe able to get 119-120mph with E85 and removing spare tire, chassis braces, rear seats...etc.

      Don't expect 117MPH with the IS38 turbo. 115-116MPH is a realistic expectation though, which is about 3-4MPH more than the Stage 2 IS20 will generally get you.

    • @rjracing9917
      @rjracing9917  9 років тому +1

      +Jamie Harvey I trapped 113MPH a couple times with full weight on APR Stage 2 IS20 tune. The 115mph run was on a hot and humid day where two APR tuned MK7 R's that were there only trapped 110-112MPH ( they both have trapped 113-114MPH prior). I think 117MPH+ is not out of realm with the right setup, especially with E85 and some weight reduction (I have 80lbs in chassis braces, spare tire and all my seats too). Whats interesting was I went faster when I had the stage 2 GTI tune with the IS38 turbo...? I feel like you guys detuned the crap out of the spool and midrange with this tune.

      +RjRacing don't forget that the better you grip off the line, the lower your trap speed will generally be. The more you spin, the higher the trap tends to be and the E.T. is worse. We're you shifting manually or did you use sport or drive mode shift points? What rpm were the shifts at?

    • @rjracing9917
      @rjracing9917  9 років тому

      +punkdivo78 Shifting manually. I short shift 1st gear at about 5k rpms and will sometimes short shift 2nd if I'm not getting traction too. The rest of the shifts are done around 6500. What's funny is every single run it cut throttle completely for a couple tenths due to traction control... That doesn't help ETs.
