A Gatorade & Banana Isn’t Enough
Hydration isn’t just about drinking water. When we’re riding, the liquids, minerals and electrolytes that drip off our body are there to cool our skin, in turn cooling our core body temperature. We need to constantly replenish what we’re losing. ⚡🛑 Utility Can Caddy 🛑⚡shop.seattime.co/products/utility-can-caddy
Sweat rates per individual vary for a variety of reasons. For our purposes, let’s say a rider averages a sweat rate of 1-1.5 liters per hour. So, a two hour ride through the woods might have a rider's sweat loss at 2-3 liters.
As we lose water and electrolytes while riding, we need to eat foods, or utilize electrolyte supplements, to replenish what we’ve lost in sweat. Since we’re on our bikes and riding the majority of the time, it’s tough to eat food to replenish the sweat and electrolyte loss. This is where supplements like LMNT or SaltStick Fastchews come into play. Mixing the proper amount into your hydration bladder, and remembering to drink, will keep a constant drip of what your body needs to stay hydrated and cramp free.
If you want to know more, hit the article up on the site or one of the other nutrition videos I’ve put out. Riding dirt bikes is dangerous, especially when we bring the heat of summer into the equation. Use common sense and prepare for your ride one to two days before you’re on the trail. We want to see you excel while getting seat time. Let us know how it goes!

Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild became a COMPLETE REBUILD
Переглядів 20421 день тому
Rebuilding your rear brake system is straight forward, if you have the proper rebuild kits ready to go. I started on the rear brake caliper after the mudfest that was the 2024 Black Buffalo National Enduro. I found out the hard way that the master cylinder also needed to be rebuilt. Hopefully my journey through rebuilding my brembo rear brake system helps you take on the task as well.⚡🛑 Utility...

    Beer is a very good drink because its isotonic. Without alcohol during the day of riding, after riding at your will. In the blatter, I have some maltodextrin (don't know the english word), a little pinch of sea salt, and a little lemon concentrate. Food on the trail: Bananas and dry fruits and nuts.

    I don't ride (used to, would like to again), but I'm in the Arizona desert and hydration everyday is critical. Gatorade was too much sugar, surprisingly too was coconut water... I ordered LMNT flavored packets and I'm staying salty now and doing much better! Amazing what dialing in diet and nutrition can do for performance. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL

    You don't need to do stretching before a workout. Stretching a muscle relaxes it and it does not work to its full potential. There are studies that show that athletes who do full stretching before training felt a decrease in strength and balance. You should do joint warm-ups and general warm-ups. But no stretching

    I read the research and calculated the daily dosage of electrolytes. By the way, our exercise routine is the most similar to that of marathon runners. So, I bought separate calcium, potassium, and magnesium powders. Sodium is table salt. I also had to buy an accurate scale and ziplock bags. I just take half of my daily allowance of electrolytes and put them in the bags. 1 bag is for one 2.5 liter water bladder. If I ride 3-4 hours, I drink one bubble of water (it's not a big exercise, but replenishing electrolytes makes me feel better, especially after the ride), on long rides I get two bubbles (if you drink only water for 8 hours, you will get muscle cramps). By the way, I suggest you do some more research on hypoglycemia. We spend a lot of glucose during training, and at some point it becomes so little that it starts to darken in the eyes and you can faint. As with electrolytes, I bought dextrose powder and stirred it into a small bottle (with medical caffeine added), which makes a very sweet water that I gradually drink during the ride. The dextrose keeps my blood glucose levels in check, and the caffeine gives me extra energy (although admittedly, my drink is not as tasty as the energy drink from the store). In general, I ride this way, I feel great, and after my rides I no longer feel like I've been run over by a car

    I’ve had excellent luck with Gatorlyte. 2 or 3 of those mixed with a bottled water in between really does it for me. I’ve heard a teaspoon or less of salt in the hydropack helps the body re-absorb lost sodium and also helps to reduce armpump.

    I also use LMNT, partially because the mango chili flavor is fire, but also because it doesn't have all the other additives like amino acids and carb or sugars. Not that they're bad or anything. I'm just not educated enough on the subject matter to know if they're necessary or beneficial for the type of activity I'm doing. Can you comment on amino acids and carbs in other electrolyte mixes and their pros and cons for dirt bike riding?

    • @SeatTime
      @SeatTime 7 днів тому

      I've got two ways to answers this. 1. Watch this video I made earlier this year: ua-cam.com/video/lpGjHcpBqBk/v-deo.html 2. Our body works off of glucose, even if we store fat, or break down muscles, they're turned into glucose for energy. So we can eat carbohydrates (or dextrose, glucose, fructose) to help fuel our bodies on long riding days. At minimum, shoot for 20 grams of carbs per hour of activity, add more if your stomach allows (play with it). Amino Acids are from broken down protein. I personally use EAA on long riding days, or Enduro race days. It helps our body to stop breaking down our muscles for AA, and or carbs. Also, I agree the Mango Chili LMNT is FIRE! I can't drink it warm though, so I don't normally use it on race days.

    • @SeatTime
      @SeatTime 7 днів тому

      Yes, Carbohydrates, or sugar, can be beneficial on these long riding days. We need a minimum of 20 grans of carbs to keep the motor going. I can't run the risk of not being able to finish a race or a ride due to smashed pipe or broken flange, nor do I want to be taking the pipe every fortnight to get it fixed. To overcome an obstacle, not having to worry about a smashed pipe in the first place is around 75 to 80% of making it. Of course, skills play a huge part of it, but my point is that it gives you that confidence boost to attack the hard line without that worry. Hope the maths help to clarify.... 😂

    Does the blue outter line around the dent from the heat end up disappearing or does it stay there forever

      Sometimes you'll see them fade away, but I typically see them to some degree after blowing out a massive dent.

    What I have not seen, heard or read is how these actually work?? Is a type of mercury inside with a sort of piston that travels against the up and down action of the bike? It HAS to dampen something in order to do anything at all. Has anyone cut one open to see what is going on?

    • @SeatTime
      @SeatTime 20 днів тому

      How does it work? Google tuned mass damper (TMD) and that's the concept. What did Countershox do inside their aluminum shaft? I'm not sure. Cutting one open is a way to find out, but also a way to loose a few bucks.

    • @SwormCycles
      @SwormCycles 20 днів тому

      @@SeatTime Ya I see it works in skyscrapers but can't see how it would make much of a diff on bike forks. I'll watch more vid's on it but for now sticking to my Precision Concepts parabolic steering damper, Flexx bars and a correctly tuned and valved suspension.

      @SeatTime 20 днів тому

      I notice a different when going with and without in the chattery stuff. If seems to smooth out the front end in a way I hadn't felt before. I've had all kinds of different suspension work done and on different bikes. I think this does something unique, but I don't believe it replaces good suspension work or Flexx Bars/MAKO360 type of bars/devices. I run a MAKO360 and I could tell a noticeable different in my front end when riding through choppy rock sections, but I am also an N of 1.

    Best way to get air out of the line on the syringe is to hold it up above the caliper and pump brake. Even though it’s not bled it will push just enough to make the air go up

    • @SeatTime
      @SeatTime 21 день тому

      Ah, ok. So syringe is connected, bleeder is open, and we pump the brake lever a little. That pressure will then push the air bubble in the syringe line up into the syringe, so you can push only fluid into the bleeder/system. I wanted to spell that out 🤣!
