    The National Enduro Series is one of the best racing series out there. I find it a great way to ride fun, and different, terrain while also being challenged as a racer. I'm excited to chat with the racers after this round to get their thoughts on the format change.

    Never raced an Enduro but, sounds like a good plan. I think it would be safer and more fun overall. The down side could be a scoring/timing disaster. Out here in the desert the clubs shy away from the timed races for that reason. When I was a faster rider coming up on the slower guys, you had to be paying attention. I think what ever you can do to make an event safer and more fun for everyone, will improve participation.

      Good points about scoring. In their post, they talk about how they're going to sign A Riders up a different day from everyone else to keep confusion down. That's also probably for scoring the event. They will essentially have two races going on at once timing wise.

    I’m a Muddobbers club member. I’m glad this was received well from the community. We really took a chance and it seems we struck a chord with both the pros and amateurs, which is hard to do. Can’t wait to see everybody again in 2025!

      Do you know why they didn't adopt the idea going forward? I thought it was a great idea. Also, I hope to be there in 2025!!!

      @@SeatTime We probably will be doing staggered starts from now on, at least in national events. I’m not sure why more events don’t utilize this.
      Edit: we will have a local District 14 enduro this October 6th. Similar course size to a national enduro.

    Enduro Colorado has done this the past two years for Sandwash Enduro; from my perspective it is an awesome change. I am an older B rider, so generally in the last third of the overall B field and I like the fact that I am not being constantly passed by faster people. The C class is starting a section behind us, so I don't have slower riders in front of me. I think it's a better experience for all speeds of riders, but especially the slower ones, and those are the folks that are making the enduro work; it's not the top ten percent, but rather the other 90% who are paying their money and want a good experience.

      Cool to hear there are other clubs playing with format for a better experience. I haven’t raced that RMEC event, only Shady Burro, which I LOVE! I’m hoping to make San Isabel this year, but we shall see (time/money). 🤘🏻🤙🏻⚡️

    Restarts are definitely fun and are make it easier for new enduro riders. But I wouldn't want time keeping to go away completely. I like the thinking aspect of them.
    The change youe talking about in this video sounds pretty sweet.

      I would screw up so badly at a time-keeper these days! That skill has gone completely. I Cajun Classic 100 this year was the closest I'd seen in a long time. It was HARD to stay on time. I like that idea of working hard to stay on a pace that keeps you starting each test on time.

    I ride several NEPG events a year and think this is a great idea. Less stressful for both A riders and C riders.

      Same. I wish I could get to Indiana to be at the race in October and see how the format truly feels.

    As Josh said in his interview, the pros often have a harder time with the A lappers than the c and b lappers. I think this would just cause too much confusion. Often times it is a little confusing find the start of each test. I think this will result in people missing tests or going to the wrong tests. And you will still have lappers, they will just be closer to your speed and possibly less likely to move.

      I remember that part of the podcast, but I just find that statement weird. I'm a middle of the pack A rider and I have no trouble getting out of the way for faster riders. Being an A rider, and knowing how much it sucks to get stuck behind someone, I try to not be "that guy".
      The biggest issue I find is the riders looking for a highway to let me pass. Half the time if they just get off the main part of the trail and lean over, I could get by.
      I think this will be better, BUT to your point, we'll have to see how it plays out.

    Being in the way of faster riders is my fear. I hate being in the way. The row assignments are by sign up time. So if I sign up early I get passed by everyone.

    • @SeatTime
      @SeatTime  Рік тому

      You can sign up for a later row. So when signing up, and you don't want to be in the 20-30's, pick the 40's and it'll backfill you to an opening. If you want to be earlier, pick 10-18. If it tries to put you in the 20's, back out and put in a number in the 40's. Then you won't be right on the mix of the AA's and Pro's.

    Don't think it will work as well as they think. Personally, why not just line them up like they at most off road races? In other words, start your pros/A's first, then the B riders, and then your C's, or however they want to break everyone in to classes. Once people have raced one enduro then they have a database of previous racers and their previous finish would determine their start time/position. So, let's say you finished 14th overall out of A racers last enduro so now you would start behind the people who placed 1st through 13th that are racing at the next race and you would be lined up ahead of those who finished 15th or worse in your class. If you haven't raced before then you are lined up behind those that have a recent finish on a first come first serve basis in your class. This would also encourage more to race as many of the enduros they can to maintain their better starting position. Eh, just an idea!

    • @SeatTime
      @SeatTime  Рік тому

      I like the thinking, but the reason the Pro's are in the 20-30's is so the trail is broken in. If you put them too early, there is more of a discrepancy between rows as the trail breaks in more. This newer format switch will create more 'new' trail for the A and up riders, which we'll have to see how it plays out and what others feel about it.
      I also like the idea of adjusting rows between tests, but I don't think their timing is setup for that to work. With some adjustment though, it could be another interesting format adjustment to test.
