    There's a small problem with this roller when using some plastic spool. The plastic spools are thinner on the edge and get caught between the roller and the roller holder, which adds a ton of friction to the roll. To fix this, plastic spools should have an adapter that widens the edges up the roll to at least 3mm. Otherwise, these drybox rollers are great a year later.

    I'm using the 3.7L since the 4L are pretty much unobtanium. Just shrinked the y of 3.7mm and they snapped perfectly. The "wings" over the roller bearing attach are brittle, but they works. I'd suggest covering the rollers with tape, to improve the grip. Overall, awesome project.

    As a metal fabricator and glorified drill operator having an accurate certified 90 degree square is a must have, no buts. If I'm working small wood projects my go-to is Swanson but in high stakes metal fab is Starrett, Mituoyo, or an old Brown and Sharpe now called Hexagon Metrology's Tesa division in Switzerland. When working on million dollar projects you don't want a cheap square. If you are doing large projects(houses, pipe, and tanks) having a knowledge of Pythagorean theorem and circle geometry or little bit of trigonometry with a good tape measure, framing square, and level will take you far.

    When I was checking an online marketplace, I accidentally stumbled upon empty textile teabags. One pack with 100 bags with a string to close the opening. And I got a bottle with moisture sensitive colored silica gel. Works wonders. It's easy to move it from the bottle to a bag, the bag can be closed, air moves easily and it's still very visible if silica gel is dry or wet. And as a bonus, it fits perfectly in the same vacuum bags as you show on the video. Very nice video though.

    Im actually new to 3d printing, but what do you mean with silica breaks over time? How much time does it take to break? Also i have some silica gel packets laying around since more than 7 years now... Never dried them as they were not meant for 3dprint, don't know if they've crumbled inside the package, but it doesn't seem to have any visible or perceptible integrity problems. Also silica's way cheaper and easier to find

      I don't think that he means breaks as in physically disintegrating. I think he means that the desiccant loses its ability to remove moisture. The color changing type is interesting. When dry it's orange and as it gets moister it starts to turn towards green. However, I can't seem to get a straight answer on how many times you can recharge this stuff. On Amazon, it usually doesn't say, except in one offer, it says something like 5 to 7 times. So, hard to say with that stuff. But the little packets you refer to, I don't know if those are rechargeable. or not. I just bought a filament dryer, so I'll bet trying to dry out all the little packets I have. This dryer might not be hot enough, however, so I may end up having to use an electric mini oven.

    • @federicopappalardo231

      @@BlondieSL it's been some time and I actually bought some, it does indeed crumble, but I do not think it's based on the "mileage" of the single pearl, rather caused by manufacturing defects. As per how many times you can reuse them, on my package there's indicated two to three times. I'll obviously try more than that untill it doesn't work anymore.

    • @BlondieSL
      @BlondieSL 3 дні тому

      @@federicopappalardo231 Oh that's interesting! In all my years I have never seen desiccant crumble like that. I wonder if the manufacturers have gone on the cheap, now using substandard materials. Something to watch out for. Thanks for confirming that.

    4:41 when vacuum packed. The desiccant pod, in its location , is sealed off from absorbing moisture from the filament.

    • @BlondieSL
      @BlondieSL 3 дні тому

      Yeah, I saw that too and see that with all of the spools that I have. That's why, I put the desiccant in a position where it's not blocked off. As spools empty, I'll probably drill small holes into the inner hub and move filament to those as time goes on.

    I'm still hesitating between the two materials, glad for this video and your basic idea with that tube but there is a thing I must disagree with it. As I read the activated alumina has huge surface. This is a main advantage what you just loose when you vacuum seal the tube ends and leave only pinholes next to the glued mesh if there is any. I want to recommend you an imprioved design with 3D printed caps for the tube that have holes all over. When you want to regenerate, you just remove them. A well curved cap won't stress the vacuum bag like the tube edge probably does.

    I need to set up something like this to paint baseboards and such. THey run about 8 feet long. The fan is a bit pricey ($200).. I have a round big fan in my garage for when we work out.. can I repurpose that temporarily to use? It's one of those 2 foot or so sized round fans with metal blades that you see in gyms. If so, can I just use the one and somehow find a hepa filter to cover it lol. Or would a smaller box fan with hepa filter be enough? I too want this to be something I can take down, then set up again for future use. Buying 6mil sheeting on amazon.. or perhaps 10mil would be better? They have a roll of 25' by 100' 10mil for about $125. I am ok if that makes more sense and is longer lasting and reusable, but if 6mil is good enough I can stick with that.

    I live in St Louis, MO. We're surrounded by 3 rivers, so it's always humid here. My office runs about 50% to 60% relative humidity from April to October. I have been using the vacuum seal bags to store my filament, along with a pouch of desiccant and a hygrometer. But that is such a hassle -- constantly pulling filament out of the bag and then resealing the bag and sucking it so the desiccant doesn't become wet while I'm using the filament. Your way is a much better solution. I won't need to open the box when switching filaments. I've just ordered parts on Amazon and will be printing the printed parts today on my Ender 3.

I’d feel a lot better having an anchor bolt in the concrete. If feel like the shear strength of a wedge anchor vs a Ramset nail is just a bit more sturdy.

    My question is how about 400+fps 500 grain crossbow bolt. I have been searching for a target but when I read the bad reviews it is the same problems I have. The 20" bolt sinks to the fetching or will not pull out or it fuses what ever is in the target to the shaft when you do get it out. I never thought about a target when I got my crossbow. With my compound bow I never had problems but the crossbow is moving 3x ish as fast. Friction I think is the problem.

    To make it lighter and even cheaper as even those rags will cost, I would suggest using used pallet wrap plastic. A heck of a lot of pallets are wrapped and they just throw that stuff away. It is usually several layers thick depending what was on the pallet. ie, boxes would have a lighter wrap but potentially unstable load like potting mix will have a thicker wrap. Large stores like Home Depot (or Bunnings in Oz) are the best bet as staff would be more willing to assist with the request than say Kmart. If you ask what day gets the most deliveries, you might have a better chance of arranging to pick up that day. ie orders are made on Monday, but delivered Thurs/Fri. You can roll in large balls and compress it etc and much lighter than rags.
