Removing the break lines from a Tatra 815 6x6 from 1986
In today's video we are removing part of the break lines that will be replaced. This was quite a struggle and therefore the video is a bit shorter as it is not fun watching the same content for a long time! Next video will be putting back the new ones and testing them out for leaks!

      @@HenkTheCamperTank Hey I am from slovakia, that is cool, how did you get the tatra are they from the se army or is it imported? what are you excepting from the consumption, from the mighty v12 and the gear reductions at the wheels the rpm are propably gonna be quite high at 90 kmh, I have the civillian with no gear reduction and the v10, my top speed was 110 kmh gps, I have it on 14R20 tires, are you planning to keep it on the "stock" army tires?

    • @HenkTheCamperTank
      @HenkTheCamperTank 8 днів тому

      Nice to meet you! Yes for now I’ll leave that stock, here in Sweden there are still a lot of gravel roads in the forest. I think it’ll be perfect for the tires. However the tires are hard to get so probably when I need to change them out I’ll take that expense when it is time to do so 😄 in terms of consumption I am expecting a whopping 2 km from 1 liter 😂 but we will see how that is in reality when I get to drive it a bit more. I imported the truck, there used to be some of these in the area plus the civil ones but no longer, it is from the Czech military build in 1986. What are you expecting for fuel economy?What are you planning to change to the truck?

    • @hugomendel6933

      @@HenkTheCamperTank that is really cool, ours is also from 86, I have a crew cab 6x6 1 of 2 ever built, not the trailer puller but the normal 6x6 configuration, I will be changing the upfit for a 6 - 6.5 meter propably custom built habitation box, and sleeping for 4 (+ 2 in the roof tent) people, I am expecting (or rather hoping 😂) for 30 - 40 liters per 100km, however I am not currently working on it because I have other trucks that I will be converting first, so it will take a while before I can start to work on it. I imagine it is quite hard to get parts in se. what are your plans?

    • @MrTatrovak1
      @MrTatrovak1 6 днів тому

      @@hugomendel6933 hello. Hanks V12 is in perfect condicion 😉👍🏻 the fuel consumpion or speed is irrelevant 😉 You have only V10 on civil schassi, but IT is still only V10😉 sooo wher you lost the Power, with V12 only change the gear and drive. V12 is the best engine for Tatra 🔥🔥🔥🔥 V10 is good for some tipper truck, but for fun, you need a V12😉🔥😅 The reduction in Hanks Tatra is no problem. He drive empty, or only with some bags on the table, so no big weight. By reduction axles is speed diferent, 4x4 = 110-120km, 6x6 = 100-110km, 8x8=90-100km with army tyres. If Hank change the tyres for bigger size, the speed is really much higher. But in the moment, he dont need that 😉

    Out of curiosity: How important is the per-wheel valve for you? It looks like you could save a lot of space and complexity if you would not use that manual valve in each wheel. It would I guess mean the tire pressure would be equalized over all wheels? Good job!

    • @HenkTheCamperTank
      @HenkTheCamperTank Місяць тому

      It would be very helpful when you get a small puncture as you could inflate the tire more regularly until you find a spot to change the tire. Or after you have changed the tire, you can inflate just the one 😄 But generally if we would go off/on road it makes more sense to inflate and deflate all of them and yes it will equalize them if all are open 😄

    are you sure rubber hoses will do it?! Tatra didn't put the metal pipes there for nothing, it's an air-cooled engine (with oil) and there will be high temperatures right there near the engine. The 120°C temperature of the engine (oil) shown by the thermometer is no exception. Look in the cabin for the thermometers to which values they are calibrated. The temperature of the cylinder head ranges from 120 - 180 - 240°C.

      Thanks for the reply! Good point. I choose rubber ones because on the left close to the engine there were already rubber lines. in 1985 i got this model brand new in the army. You're missing a folding bed behind the seats, I didn't see a headlight on the roof, the exhaust can also be turned upwards. When renovating, pay attention to all cardan joints and all parts where there are grease nipples and wring out the old one properly. You will also need almost 10 kg of petroleum jelly. The winch rope is 80 m long. When the engine is in good condition, even with a load of 5 tons, it can reach a maximum of 115 km/h. I really liked this car. Otherwise, the power of the engine for pulling is 45t, it was developed mainly as a tractor for military equipment.

      @HenkTheCamperTank 3 місяці тому

      Hi 👋 Awesome! 🙌 This one is from ‘86, I have the bed but I removed it to get some easier access underneath 😄 When I bought it the light was already missing sadly, but the handle and the switch on the inside of the cab are there! So I might look for a replacement. I ordered a lot of grease last week. I have a friend who is Czech and owns a lot of tatra. We checked all the oils, all was good! We did see that the joints that have rubber over it, the rubber needs to be replaced but no water had come in! Next step is engine oil replacement and repairing 1 air system for 1 tire as it is loosing pressure. Brakes looked almost new when I removed the brake drum. Last weekend we flipped the exhaust up! So we don’t walk through the fumes when it is running. Very nice information of you! Nice to meet you!

    Hiii Henk. Niiiice video and good job 👍🏻 Is nice to see, that you use my tips and triks😊👍🏻😉 The brakes are ok, you will drive empty, sooo no problem for you. When you will put the drumms down ,do a mark on drumm and axle, that the drumm go back on the same axle. Is than much easier to fix the brakes👍🏻 after cleaning put some oil on the bolts up 😉 than the brake works much much better. If you nead some parts, do a list,and send it to me. I can buy and bring to Sweden, no problem 👍🏻 Nice see,that your work, is from video to video better and better😉👍🏻

    Hi Henk. Nice and easy Job 👍🏻👍🏻 in the axle muss be only 1,5L of the oil. No more, becaus, than the oil push the gumy simering out and the oil start leaking on the breaks. And for the level, you muss turn the drumm at 180° 😉 than you check the level correct 👍🏻😉 But i am happy, you do it , like i give you instrukcion 👍🏻👍🏻. Perfect job, you start be a Gooooood Tatra boy 😉👍🏻☝🏻

    Hi Henk. Nice video 😉👍🏻. The scroub that you put in brake zylinder is short 😉 . And you need this only if the brake zylinder have air leaking. For open or close the brake in the drumm , you muss find a sroub for key number 13, than thurn , and you open the brake in the drumm. Now i am in garage, so i do video for you and send it to your Instagram 😉👍🏻

    Hi Henk, nice video 👍🏻 You do hard job with the Tyre. I have again some tips for you 😉👍🏻 1, Buy a bigger tools😅 You need big Hammer ⚒️ and big kee + 1,5m long steel pipe, otherways you broke your hands and body🫣 2, if the mothers from the srubs will not lose, heat the mothers little bit, put big kee+ this 1,5m long steel pipe,push, and some other guy , hit with the Hammer on the ker😉👍🏻💪🏻 You heart the knick noise and the mother lose. Than use electric or air pistol 😉👍🏻 3, buy on scrap old rim, turn the Tyre um 180° and put it on the old rim. The weight the Tyre help you, so you only hit the Tyre with big Hammer, and the Tyre fall Down. When not, put brake fluid betwem the Tyre and rim. 😉 4, when the tyre is Down from the rim, put out the intube, put some air in, and put it in some box, where you have water, than the bubles show your,where is the hole in the intube 😉👍🏻 5, you have a Tatra, you need mechanic or elektric lifter for 1,5ton + crane for 6t lift... This help you a realy lot. When i buy my first Tatra, and start check the tyres, after 2hours, i go on internet and buy lifter and crane 😅😅😁😁 6, NEVER USE THE THE BLACK POWER KEE FOR THE MOTHERS,THAT YOU USE ON VIDEO. THIS CAN DAMAGE THE MOTHER+ SRUBS AND THAN YOU HAVE BIG PROBLEM. ALWYAS HEATING WITH FIRE , THAN BIG TOOLS, THAN PUSH UND HIT.... 👍🏻💪🏻 Thats the easy way to fix it 😉🤝

    • @HenkTheCamperTank
      @HenkTheCamperTank 5 місяців тому

      Yeah I have some things in mind, 1 is to paint the rims, parts are a bit rusty. The other part is to use “Däckpasta” as they call it in Sweden. It prevents the tire from sticking to the rim but ensures a tight seal. So that will hopefully work, but time will tell that 😅

    Hi Henk. Nice Job 👍🏻👍🏻 and putting the jack under breakdrumm is excelent and safe😉👍🏻 . When the axle is in this possition, check the oil level😉👍🏻 Put the scrub on diferencial in down possition, the old oil go out. When the diferencial is empty, turn the axle over 90° left,that the scrub is in middle possition. Put a new oil in to the scrub hole. If is the new oil coming out from the hole,lock it with the scrub and dann👍🏻💪🏻 Use oil PP80 or PP90😉👍🏻 . Tomorow i send you pictures for the axle air. And dont forget☝🏻 only 475- 500kpa Max for the air pressure in Tyre😉👍🏻

      It should probably be obvious but: what is safer about the jack under the brake drum compared to what? Under the leaf springs? What a nice garage/storage space you have now! I can really see a nice workshop there!

    • @HenkTheCamperTank
      @HenkTheCamperTank 5 місяців тому

      Previously I had the support under the axle, but the leaf spring is helt in place by C shaped metal to the axle. If the axle is supported there is no pressure in the C shaped metal and it can fall off 😅 the pressure of the leaf spring ensures that it stays on the axle. If I understood correctly. By placing it under the brake drum the leaf spring still puts pressure on this C shaped metal, holding it into place I’ll send you some images on instagram!

      @@janwijbrand hi Jan. The Tatra axle are different. On PVC trucks, is one long axle, but Tatra have half axles, so if you put the hydraulic jack only for par minutes under the C part on axle, to change the Tyre,than is ok. But, when you need more time, you muss put the jack under the Brakedramm, becouse, the weight of this half axle is pushink this hydraulick Jack to the side, and thic C part can fall out, and if you work under the Tatra, you dont wont,that the Jack or the axle hit you🫣🫣 so it is for your safety 🙏🙏 + on video,you can see, when Henk start lift the axle, first is comming up this C part, and than the axle with suspension. Tatra is for change the Tyres really special, so you muss be werry carrefull with that, extra with front axle, NEVER EVER PUT YOUR HEAD BETWEM THE CAB AND THE TYRE WHEN YOU HAVE TATRA FRONT AXLE ON HYDRAULICK JACK, THE SUSPENSION CAN CRACT,AND CUT YOUR HEAD 🪓💀 SOO SAFETY ALWAYS FIRST...I work with Tatra many years 😉🤝
