I'll be following "why" rule. I have 6 mugs (can be used as soup plates, too) and only 1 handbag! Black Kipling shoulder bag is all I need, rest can be put to backbag or cotton bag I store in my handbag. I used to have lot of handbags and shoes, and dresses for office work. I truly wonder why, just few basic items are enough. I donated a lot, but nowadays, to reduce buying even more, I ask myself: Let's get creative, can I use this in some other way? Can I fix it? Can I wear duplicate jackets in winter months instead of buying a new winter coat? Could my old, torn leggings make a good hair band?

Provavelmente foi o cinto elástico em baixo do prato do gira-discos que liga o motor ao prato. Compra um novo e colocas isso sozinha. (Vê como o fazer aqui no UA-cam). Gastas no máximo 5€ e assim voltas a curtir novamente o fabuloso som analógico. 🙌

To prioritize NEEDS OVER WANTS, to face something I'm not and be okay with it..." I love it. Still working on it. I also sold my car and I know it's hard to believe but I've lost friendships over not driving. People just think it's WEIRD! My aunt who is an engineer took the bus all her life and she's my inspiration. Of course, she didn't live in North America. It takes me 20 minutes to walk to the nearest mall. I'm lucky it's a nice neighbourhood. Having old things also puts you in a specific group of people and you need to be able to withstand that pressure. You will be skipped in hanging out with certain groups at work, who like having a big house, a poor, going to Disneyland yearly. You might even have family members cut you off. So... frugality is a huge stance.

The ego often creates contradictions within our desires and emotions, leading us into a state of inner conflict. In your example about the plants, the ego behaves in a way that can be described as an internal battle where desires are in conflict with each other. Breaking down the contradictions the ego creates: "I don’t want plants because they’re a nuisance": The ego sees the plants as unnecessary disturbances. It might perceive them as obstacles that interfere with its space or comfort. In this moment, the ego rejects the plants because it wants to maintain control and power over its surroundings, rather than embracing harmony with them. "I want coolness, but I destroy the plants": This is an ironic contradiction. Plants actually provide coolness and comfort, but the ego, in its desire to control the environment, might think that destroying the plants will ensure its personal space or comfort. However, this makes the situation worse-by destroying the plants, the coolness is lost, and the ego is left with even less comfort. "I get even angrier": As the ego becomes frustrated and doesn’t achieve its goal (coolness), the anger intensifies. The ego is trapped in a vicious cycle-it tries to control and maintain power in situations where the better approach would be to seek balance or work with nature, but it refuses to because of its rigidity and desire to win. The root cause: Lack of balance and self-awareness The ego often isn’t aware of its own inflexibility. It seeks instant gratification for its desires without thinking of the long-term consequences. In this example, instead of finding a solution that involves adapting to the surroundings, the ego responds with reactive and destructive behaviors that only worsen the situation. The solution: Self-awareness and adaptability To break out of this contradictory cycle, the person needs to recognize their inner conflicts and make an effort to consider the long-term effects of their actions. In the case of the plants, they could realize that, instead of destroying them, they could adjust their space or find ways to release frustration without resorting to destructive behaviors. The solution lies in compassion for the surroundings and learning to adapt rather than engage in a destructive struggle. Instead of destroying the plants out of ego, the person could accept their value in their life-they provide coolness, clean air, and beautify the space. The ego would calm down if it recognized that natural balance and respect for others are key to its inner peace. Conclusion: The ego loves contradictions because it does not allow for flexibility or understanding. Instead of adjusting to natural conditions or others, the ego tries to control and manipulate situations for its own benefit, often to the detriment of long-term harmony and balance. When a person begins to understand that true peace and fulfillment come from adaptation and compassion, rather than from struggle and destruction, they can begin to free themselves from the ego and start living a more harmonious life.
