Greetings Mr Legend. Congratulations on your completion of a magnificent chariot. I was also perplexed by the rooftop seal on my own project and can now say, after watching you, mine is on back to front and possibly upside down. It seems to be working proving our beloved wagons are quite forgiving to their 'wonky oak' owners.

Does this Landy still exist? I found some old pictures of it on Google some time ago.

Being a Defender Enthusiast Ive had the 110 '95 300 tdi hard top 2011Puma 90 station wagon now back to 2012 "rare in Aus". hard top 110 puma All great vehicles.Love them.I drive Toyota 79s for work daily but Soulless Work vehicles only! Defender all the way❤❤❤!

Great insightful video Alan, thank you. As always enjoyed watching it and agree with your view. Fixing up never seems to end, or maybe finally ends when we lose interest. Luckily for us we don’t have the same rust problems as in some areas but sometimes wonder if mechanical issues on a 25 year old car can ever be ticked off?😉

Defenders are a hype and totally overpriced for such a shitbox on wheels.

The before and after is like night and day ! Its a neat looking landy and yes, the plain no frills look is fresh.

I rebuilt a 300tdi 90 three years ago and it cost £8500, I did 98% of the work myself, it’s passed it’s mot/ inspection every year since it’s done around 10000miles or 16000kms! My opinion it’s been worth doing,

Just done the window rubbers on my 90 TDi using the Garrison outfitters kit. Wasn't cheap getting them to SA. Different vehicle with the rattles gone!

Very nice to see another original looking South African Tdi 90 without all the glitzy accessories and camper conversions. Such a nice looking vehicle, great job keeping it clean and original. I'm also pleased to see I'm not alone in keeping my defenders free of a bullbar. Mine is in much the same state, with a focus on the mechanical side and original trim, although I've kept the exterior 'patina' for the moment and I haven't been brave enough to rip the decals off! :) Interested to note that your diesel cap is on the left side and flush, is this an extra tank? My previous owner took parts of the aircon out of mine - If you have a moment sometime it would be great to see what a standard (I assume SA) installation looks like. I want to get it working again and I was interested to see that your compressor is like mine and mounted with horizontal bolts. The UK ones are vertical with a cover over it.

Hi from New Zealand, I'm on the tail end of a full restore on my 57 series one, I'm a panel beater by trade so could make a tail gate door skins and various other parts, galvanized chassis firewall and galv most of the steel bit's, the vehicle was in very good condition to start with, but still took 3 years, and cost about $ 8,000,00

Beautiful truck! I love a 107 and 109 S1! So far though, I only have S2's and S2A's. Did you have to try to find the original owner, or could you just collect it and claim ownership since it was abandoned? Very tough to claim abandoned vehicles here in the States.

Lol I don’t know what comes first; Does the adventure demand the Land Rover, or does the Land Rover beckon for adventure? I think, depending on the individual, it’s both. I think, even more than a Toyota Land Cruiser or even a Jeep, a Series Land Rover or Defender looks like it’s on expedition just sitting in the driveway. The lion was interesting. I have a friend who raises orphaned Black Bears. He lets no one in the enclosure with them. He and his family bottle feed them in their kitchen, but has been bitten many times. They are very rough even when playing. If you have more content like this, it would make a great series. Cheers Allan.👍

Very informative video, thanks!! I'm not sure if the LR4/Disco4 dash cover would fit a Disco3. Probably with some adaptations. I'm saying because it's leather wrapped, pretty nice and doesn't crack. It also has some special stitching where the passenger airbag is. Or else you could do an ugly glue-up just to make it solid and then cover he whole thing with a nice leather wrap based on the Disco4. Cheers from Canada!

Most of the dashmats should have cut outs for your airbags. For best fit, wet the mat and weight it with flexible weight ( bean or rice bags ) to hold it down and help it mould to your dash. Good luck.

What happened to the four airbags you mistakenly replaced? LR TIME and LR DRIVE are good repair sources for Disco 3 (and 4). I’ve had a dash mat on my Disco 2a for years. It’s held in place with sticky pads and Velcro. There is a flap for the air bag should it activate. 💣 Steering damper swap for the wobbles?
