They are, and I meant to mention them specifically, but I forgot XD In short, being locked behind an expensive box set was enough to exclude them. However, if you want them ranked, they’d totally be a Bloomer tier!

It’s certainly a struggle for them. Having access to Hrothgorn and a bunch of cheap chaff seems like one of the better ways to do it, but that’s also been tested a fair amount to limited success. If you find the sauce, let me know!

That’s right! The Spirit Host came in and needed to land like 2 damage to secure a kill and whiffed with a one damage hit. The spooky lad didn’t feel like turning up that game for sure! Your use of the mounted Knight Of Shrouds has me considering him as an ally in other lists because he’s rather wonderful for 250 points.

There is a bit of finagling based on deployment size and the size of the group coming in. Sometimes you’ve got to just accept the possibility that some folks are going to deploy in a way that lets them escape, but you’re still pinning 2-3 guys so it’s fine. With initiative manipulation you can often take out any stragglers who were able to deploy outside of the zone as well. For the most part, you’re expecting to see 2-3 models and with a bit of eyeballing and intention clarifying you can pin them all without any trouble.

@@wargamesontoast Sine Warcry allows premeasuring you could even measure so the bases of the enemy fits between the blocker and the board edge. Maybe even with bases even if thats a bit gamey. :-) This is a fun strategy! And could often be done with cheaper kind of robust cavalry. Can kind of be donewith stright board edge turn 2 deplyments - but more victims can probably escape then.

Happens all the time haha. I think the worst instance of this was in a WD mission they put out that straight up killed models that stayed too close to the edge at the end of the turn. A recipe for disaster XD

I assume you are referring to Singri or Gunnar with this. The ability states that you add the value of the ability to the Attack Characteristic, so you would add 6 to the number of attacks they already have. Since the buff lasts until the end of the activation, they are getting the +6 twice if they use 2 attack actions. So with Singri, if she was to get a maximum value volley off, she is throwing 6+2 dice then 6+2 dice for 16 attacks total. If memory serves, Gunnar would get 6+4 twice for 20 total attacks. Hope that helps!

@@wargamesontoast where there’s a will there’s a way… maybe there aren’t so many opportunities to get a steal tho. Also watching your road to gold and hearing bout your joy with Ephelim, which you can pick up in the Underworlds Daemons and Despoilers box. What are your thoughts on assembling from that? Aytan did a nice video on those boxes

It really is the most awkward part of Warcry, which is a pretty bad hurdle to have!

@@wargamesontoast ok… maybe I take it back. I played a couple of rounds with the minis included and it’s a good learning experience. Now I’m working out who to bundle Calthia and prince Duvalle with… and it turns out list building is quite addictive 👀

List building is one of the big draws to Warcry that other games, like Kill Team, mostly lack.

Which warbands do you have? I’ll see what I can conjure from there :)

​@@wargamesontoast literally none :D I have a lot of Underworlds bands(but not Thricefold, not a fan of slaanesh demons) and mixture of "this warcry game sounds cool" and "Spiranx is amazing model" made me consider trying it out. I found some budget(and cool) bands but when i look specifically for Sphiranx (already have it) the only thing I found is painting tutorials and singular band made from (2?)boxes of Jade Golems. He is popular model on web but it looks like no one is using him in the game. I think "Sphiranx guide" might be good idea for a video, with sample teams and some synergies to make the most from him

I personally like to keep the Corvus all in-faction since their trait enables their Shrike Talons.

I love Ephilim and the Pandaemonium is deffo on the cards for taking. I am trying the weird and wonderful at the moment and trying to hone in on a winning (and interesting!) formula :) Glad you like the series!

The lad ain’t bad! A proper chaff blender and crit-fisher. Even has an AOE explosion on a Quad. Access to fly is marvellous too!

It’s a great box! There are a few great spearheads kicking around at the moment. Iron Jawz are another fantastic box

Absolutely. The only issue being that the Marauder Champion isn’t all that fast and pretty squishy. So in a kill mission that has bonuses for leader or hero kills, he’s a prime target for assassination! And interesting thought about Darkoath is that they don’t necessarily need all that many killy/big allies because their in-faction Wilderfiend is fantastic. Some fun support from something like Skabbick, Trueblood, or Vexmor wouldn’t go wrong though! They are a very versatile base for a warband for sure

To piggyback off toast, the queen is 55 points more but way more survivable, gives you a stellar movement triple, and still gives you lots to play with. I've tried the below list and it's been great Warqueen Vex+1A Vashtiss Singri Marauders×5

@@spiegel487 yes that's actually a list I'd considered as I have all the elements awaiting painting. Have you tried out Singri?

@@MD-gy4dr yes and she is stellar. Fast and with great range. Her only real weakness is if someone can net her or get in combat and prevent disengage. All in all top 10 overall units in Warcry IMO and thank the gods she isn't a hero.

I could see this being fine too. The regular Demolishers deffo need some help

M4 is absolutely an issue but dice willing, early rushes tend to help scoot your boot enough to make up for it. Vexmor with his double is almost as fast as an elf double moving as well, so you can get some cardio in for sure haha

Buffing their middling stuff might help, but I still think the Hurler is just too much of a good investment. The other lads if reduced enough, could lead to an interesting replacement for Shatterers in a tankier list, but who knows?

@ the tower has 6 levels and is made out of some packaging cardboard that looks like stone and have suspended areas built out of chopsticks and popsicles sticks. House rules: falling tests fail on 1 and 2 and impact damage doubles on the level 5 and 6. Wish I could share a picture with you!

They are loads of fun and well worth the dabble!

Ephilim is incredibly fun and the Tzeentchiest of Tzeentch stuff for sure. I point to them whenever Bladeborn being axed is discussed because they are a prime example of a completely whacky design space found only in Bladeborn. The gold standard all Bladeborn should strive for

@wargamesontoast could there be an argument for moving this kind of whackyness into base factions, so we don't need to rely on bladeborne for the weird stuff? If all Tzeentch Daemons had access to sudden warp portal (and maybe some playable profiles 😅) would it break the game?

So.... You played a mission which hugely favoured your opponent, against a warband packed with the stuff your warband likes the least.... and you got a draw. Is that what you are saying? 😊

I would imagine it would skyrocket them into the upper tiers immediately if they gained faction-wide Sudden Warp Portal. But it would be fun to experiment with it in theory for sure
